May I join in over here? I am pretty much on Atkins 72 with modifications of managed calories and lower protein percentages. I am so happy that September is here, it gets cooler and I am much more comfortable . YAY!

how about TOM? that usually causes me some retention. and about 5 lbs!!!

also, IMHO, any kind of diet drink is going to be problematic. they are just filled with chemicals. otherwise - how could they be diet???? just a thought.

but hello and

Hey there! I know you from another thread but I can't remember which one it is. I participate on this thread even though I'm not doing Atkins at the moment. This was always "home base" so I stick around. I hear ya about September and cooler weather!!! I'm so PSYCHED!

She's another Connecticutite like myself. We're about an hour apart. Nope; we've never met. TX is hot, honey. You have to wait a lot longer for Fall to arrive but you get Spring a lot earlier than we do, too. It's just the price you have to pay, baby!

Don't beat yourself up. We all do insane stuff sometimes. Being human really is difficult at times. I should know!

Thanks for the invitation to come and join you all on the new thread. I guess I just forgot a new one had been started. Sometimes it takes a few days or closer to a week before someone gets around to it. Glad to be here!

I'm on day 7 of the new HCG round. I am sailing through it this time! It's just like the first round I did a year and a half ago. I'm riding this wave for as long as I can before I end it and start into the Atkins phase for a few weeks and then finally the "P4" phase which is where you dabble in carbs a bit more and see how your weight responds. I will be enjoying Thanksgiving and all the rest of the major holidays this year in P4.

I'm also going to the gym regularly! I'm into it!! Today I went and did cardio and the weight machines. I did 16 minutes on the elliptical, then 15 minutes on the rowing machine, then did two circuits around the Nautilus machines. Got home and made something to eat while Cissy (my dog) did the treadmill for almost an hour. Then I got an email from a guy who wanted to come see my vent-free propane wood stove. He came out this afternoon and bought it, plus a few other things too!

Cisco got to play with her old neighborhood pal Willie and he even came up to the door of the house and wanted to come in, like he used to do. It was so nice to be missed and greeted that way! And Cissy got to roam the neighborhood freely, just like in the old days.

I am in DESPERATE need of a shower so I need to go do that before I'm too tired to do another single thing. Then it's PJ TIME!!!

i think the hunger is normal right at first. i feel that way too.

adding fat helps with potty issues.

i don't think you are eating too much so long as you are not eating anything processed. sounds like you are doing ok. i wouldn't even count how many drumsticks if it makes you feel bad. just eat until you feel full. the amount will go down in time. as will the evil scale monster.

Hi Everybody!
been so hectic here. Had a house full of people since Saturday! Been so busy entertaining and I did not get a chance to get online. Pushed my session at the gym for a little later this morning just so that I can catch up on a bit of admin and get in touch.

Hello - everybody that popped in.. Ebeads- great to see you again.
Donna - great that you are back on track.
Right now I am not eating too well. I do not want to stress about it.
I am slowly going to cut back on the carbs and get back on board.
Have a great September: Spring is here and everything is starting to green up and the ducks who have been living on the dam have just had ducklings- too sweet.

Hope everyone is having a nice Labor Day!
I have been back on plan for 115 days without eating anything off plan or going over my carb number . The last several weeks have been frustrating. Dealing with a lot of hunger , was hoping that upping the fat would help ( I also cut down protein) and it is so odd how I am thinking more about the foods I cannot indulge in. Is there a syndrome called forbidden food ideation??? LOL I have that. I get frustrated at the slow rate of loss, compared to how it was when I was young and not disabled. How about that for crazy thinking. I know I am different now , I have all the facts in my brain, but my emotions are being a big cranky baby and that baby is trying to tell me that it is not worth the stress if I am not going to lose like a champion. At the moment I can only work with the dietary variables , I am in too much pain to walk or exercise. In a couple more weeks of saving I am going to join a local aquatic center. They have a heated pool and even submerged treadmill and exercise bike. Nice, huh? I am very hopeful that it will help me on many fronts. I just have to get over myself about displaying my saggy old self in a bathing suit. I am a bundle of concerns, eh? Anyway good to see those of you I remember from before *** wave *** and thanks for listening.

Hi Ebeads-
Great to see you again. Sorry to hear that you are in pain re exercise. Aquatic exercise is wonderful. I love to swim and it does not hurt your body. Ps - do not worry about what people think when they see you in a swim suit. This is about you and for you.

I need to sort out my eating issues. I have never been so off track before ever since I have been on LC. I finally unpacked my books so I can read again. Will read up on Dr A again and get inspiration.

Good luck on it, Lola! I would like to say differently, but pretty much everyone I know who has weight issues comes and goes in and out of food sanity. The point is get back "ON" track and just get going. I read and re-read. I love these forums because seeing what other people are saying sometimes reminds me of something I had forgotten. I think I am going to print out some reminders, too. These days it is not that I am forgetting, but I think I have to "work" to keep certain behaviors on top of my consciousness instead of just deferring to bad habits ( like grabbing comfort food when tired or upset , etc.). I also have learned more lately about thyroid and blood sugar issues so I have read a lot of more current topics on the internet. I think I am going to start a ring binder because I do need to go over and re-read and decide which things I am going to focus on.

Hi Natosha - had to start at the beginning of the thread reading up before I could respond.
Gaining during induction is not normal - my way of thinking- I am by no means an expert and I certainly do not follow Atkins 72 by the book but here goes:
Since you do not experience TOM you would not have that regular as routine increase in scale figure and then lowering immediately after TOM.
Could you post a few day's menus for us to look at?
Are you working out at the gym? Sometimes when you start doing intensive training ie- weights, then you start to pick up a few LBs but you certainly start losing centimetres at the same time. If you are losing cms then I suggest that you start keeping track of that instead of your weight.
How are your health stats? are you taking any meds that might be acting counter to eating high fat?

Also are you in induction or are you eating zero carbs?

natosha: between that much chicken and that much oil, you may be simply consuming too many calories.
Try baking the chicken instead of frying it. Or go half baked and half fried and see what happens.

Adding: If you're eating 14 drumsticks/thighs (or combination), a conservative estimate is 2lbs of chicken dark meat with skin @ almost 1900 calories then add just 6T peanut oil @ 720 cals, you can see that's over 2500 calories and that's not adding anything else in. (Also, 6T oil is a conservative estimate, it could be as much as 1T absorbed/sticking to the skin per piece, which would make it even higher).

Hi Natosha - Dottie haws some good advice.
Maybe you could also vary your food? Try a bit of fried egg, red meat..
I find that eating fatty red meat is satisfying and I need less of it to feel full.
get logged on to one of those online food diaries and log in your daily food to ensure that you are not consuming too many calories. Although Dr A did say eat until full irrespective of quantity provided that it is LC food. However, since you are not losing weight by eating meat and fat, then you should start logging your calories.
good luck.

Hi Cheryl- Sorry I just saw that you posted now- did not mean to ignore you. love ya too much.
And Cisco too. Great that you are starting working out. funny that we are both getting our exercise mojos going on at the same time- me in spring and you in fall.
Is HCG similar to the noS diet? Are you working both programmes together or have you moved to HCG?
Ps- I would love to adopt but hubby does not want to. I am giving myself until the end of this year to see if doing what comes naturally works. Thereafter i will consider my options.

Take care everybody!

No, they are nothing alike! I've left No S in the dust. It's a good way to maintain your weight but it might take 5 years to lose as much weight as I need to. No thank you! HCG is strict and requires taking either drops, pellets or shots of hcg. I do the homeopathic pellets which I love.

I hope your hubby will reconsider. I know how much you'd love another child. Would you try to get a newborn? Would you choose a boy or a girl?

It is very cool that we are both getting back into gym-mode. It's the first time in 22 years that I've really been into it and I'm so thrilled to be "back there" mentally. When I was in the National Guard, I loved doing the gym workouts. I did 20 minutes a piece on three different cardio machines, then I'd do the weight circuit. I forget which cardio machines I'd do but I think they were the stair stepper, the bike and the treadmill. I really enjoyed the rower yesterday! I'm going to do that more often.

Hoping everyone has a wonderful LC September!!! And thank you Lord for the change in seasons from intense to mild! Even though we are on opposite sides of the planet, we have that much in common.
