Dr. Robert Atkins 72' Extended Induction - Part 2
:welcome:Hello, I am Marylouise. I am a retired Cosmetologist. My goal is to regain my health, while reducing my weight. At the present time I am reading Dr. Robert Atkins 1972 Diet Revolution.
Statement of Robert C. Atkins, M.D. to the Senate Select Committee On Human Needs April 12, 1973 starts on page 299 of his book “Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution. If you do not have a copy of this book, get it. Many people may think I am a newbie to Dr. Robert Atkins diet. I am a newbie to this web site, LCF, not to Dr. Robert Atkins diet. The first time I went on Dr. Atkins diet was 1972. I lost 17 pounds the first two weeks. I thought the weight would stay gone, it did not! Many fat years later I went back on Dr. Atkins diet. The year was 2002. I lost 112 pounds. Again I thought I had it all under my control. How wrong I was. I was doing his 1972 Diet Revolution WOE. I did not take it to the finish line. Oh, how I wish I had. I regained every ounce and then some. Fast forward to today. March 1, 2011, I reached another all time high fat weight! I started on his Diet Revolution again. I lost 39 pounds from March 1 to May 15 2011. I was looking around one day in cyberspace and I happened upon the Atkins Web Site. I took a look see. I liked what I saw, so I joined Atkins Web Site. Soon I learned everyone was on his newest book that he had somehow written from his grave. The New Atkins For The New You, NANY. It may work for some, but I did not work for me. On “his” new book I lost from May 16, 2011 to July 25, 2011 a grand total of 5 pounds! A new friend came along and saved me, “Whitedov”. As her name implies she is a true dove. Whitedov took my hand and brought me here. :aprayer: I am back on Dr. Robert Atkins 1972 Diet Revolution. My feet are firmly planted. My roaming in Cyberspace days are behind me. I am moving again; to become the new me I have always wanted to be. So, my day starts today with zero carbs. I am looking for that purple everyone wants to see :) |

wow here you are! We talk alot here.
two points from the last thread. About the floppy exercise problem thininside. :)Think of it as a good thing. Some of us may not flop at all after we are done losing weight. I actually bought a smaller bra just in faith i would be losing and i did. Now for the rest of my body:annoyed: Maryl. about toxins in todays fat. I think the doc would have taken a double take on the way meat is today. Man, I like to boil then broil just to be safe. But that crispy chicken skin still happens after a little boil. But I usually try not to eat it.:D |

If it's not a high fat diet then what is it Dr.Atkins?
I wish Dr.Atkins hadn't been bullied into claiming the diet is not high fat.
If you look at it logically, it can't be anything other than high fat, to begin with at least. You are lowering your carbohydrates severely, and if you don't also lower your calories then you are replacing those calories with either protein or fat. Since he claims people aren't eating much more protein than a standard diet that means the fat has to have increased. It definately not a LOW fat diet. and it has More fat than the Standard American Diet. That just confuses the issue, in my opinion. I noticed this while looking into EFGT which focuses on percentages. It's quite easy to see when you look at it that way. What percentage of the daily diet would be considered High? Lets say you eat 2000 calories a day and you only eat 20 g of carb then thats only 80 calories out of 2000 and your daily diet would only be 4% Carbs. So you've got 96% left. If you split it in half that's 48% protein and 48% fat. Dietary recommendations for SAD is 20-30% fat and 15-20% protein. And since it's not a high protein diet. if we limit protein to 20%, that leaves fat at 76%, that's twice as much fat as recommended. So how is 76% NOT a high fat diet. I'm only saying because it has to be high fat or high carb, they are the only two fuels for the body. I think He only said it wasn't high fat to make people who are still afraid of fat feel less fearful. If you cut back on fat and add carbs it slows down the fat burning and weight loss, which is what you do when you climb the ladder. MaryL, you mentioned before that People lose faster on DADR than on DANDR, do you think this might be why, because he had to change it and declare it non-high fat in order to appease the masses of lipid-phobics? |

He added things like cream cheese to keep ppl doing the diet, without growing tired of the diet? But, in doing that you will lose much slower. Right? HIM being bully is my, to the POINT CLAIM that the 72 is the best plan to follow! I wrote that sentence in the wrong place! I have it in your post.. :-( Oh Metqa I am confused:confused: I don't know if I should cut back on fat or keep adding it.:confused::confused::confused::confused: :confused: |

Hi MaryLouise!
Sorry that I did not get a chance to talk with y'all yesterday-I am helping my friend with shower favors and I didn't get a chance to post. Ok! I am going to write a few more things but sending this asap to say hi!:hiya: |
LOVE high fat ... love bacon, sausage, ribeeyes, that is what keeps me satiated. Esp. the precooked bacon I bring to work ... we only have turkey sausage in our hospital cafeteria.

I just want to clarify one thing and I am also seeking advice from all of you! My Atkins book is all yellow and the pages are all yellow so I thought it was the same as his original but just printed in 1992. I also have white cover edition 2002 and threw that one on a shelf because this 92' is not as modern. This is what I want to do so I can get down to my goal: I want to post the 92' induction list and I would like you to tell me what I need to drop in order to follow the true Atkins. I think it will be helpful to those of us that do not have the 72' edition--what do you think??? I am losing with this list but it is going to get harder as I get closer to 150. I will post my 12 reasons to stay on plan and my weight also. Thanks a bunch!!!
