Chapter 2, page 29
The Atkins diet contains, in its most liberal, lifetime maintenance form, most vegetables, nuts and seeds, some grains and starches to the extent that your metabolism allows, and occasional fruits. It also contains a sumptuous variety of delicious protein foods and some high-fat foods like butter and cream that you'll find stricken from nearly every current diet.

This isn't because this is a high fat diet. It isn't that, although heaven knows I've often had the accusation thrown in my face. At the moment, virtually everything is laid to the discredit of dietary fat, and yet its advantages for a dieter seem never to be mentioned. Fat satiates the appetite. Fat stops carbohydrate craving. And fat, in the absence of carbohydrate, accelerates the burning of stored fat. The wise dieter can use fat to their advantage.

Still the Atkins diet is not a high-fat diet, partly because some of the largest sources of fat in the modern diet are the junk foods and convenience foods I would never allow you to eat. On the Atkins diet you will be eating a larger quantity of meat, fish, fowl, eggs and butter than you consumed before you went on it, but you'll probably be eating less fat overall.

He also said that the improved health will come from excluding the typically gargantuan modern consumption of junk carbohydrates!

In chapter 3 he is going to explain hyperinsulinism!

I am going to Fat Secrets and gather as my info as I can on what I was eating that had me in such a fast burning mode.

I think I did great staying ON plan for 4 days ... while on vacation. Was easy actually. Know some of my choices were high in sodium, but .. I maintained and am happy with that. WEEK 1 COMPLETE!

Way to Go

Staying on plan while traveling...that deserves a high five....where is the high five smilie??

Frances, I'm gonna need a much more supportive bra If I'm gonna be jumping up and down.

That's another reason I can add to my 12. Being able to find a bra that fits.

This morning the scale was down .4 from yesterday

Loving that it was more than .2 loss, maybe it was that mile. That did inspire me to walk another one today. I think I may even walk another mile tonight and add some weights...one can dream, can't one?
Oh YES one can dream and that dream can and sometimes does come true!!
Your food choices were excellent!! One thing I remember more than anything is once I started burning fat is to continue the same thing over and over!

I grew tired of it and money got short. I was forced to change the way I was eating. I bought chicken and turkey. Guess what happened! All weight loss stopped! You made the memory come back to me! I am so upset with myself for not keeping better food logs and notes. I do have some but not all.

I can for sure understand that! I did finally find that perfect bra and the things that helped me the most was to stop wishing I was a 38 and go for the real size. My sister and I both are well endowed. By getting my true size I was able to drop a cup size. Seems like it was the 18 hour bra. With a wide band.

Yeah, I don't think the fried chicken wings were doing me any favors. I can't imagine why. I only put butter, garlic and carb free sauce on them. I am very perplexed.

I found out about this web site from the forum I was on. The forum I was on slowed me to a crawl losing weight. You will see I tried adding veggies to my diet. You will see my weight loss just sitting there.
This may not help you see what I was eating that caused me to lose so fast. But this will jar my memory into putting the pieces back together in my head....

Once I do remember everything I will share it with everyone.

Thats what I mean. When I stopped eating beef I almost stopped losing weight. I can remember this well! I told my DH I had to have beef. I started eating it again but it was the horrible round steak! I pounded the heck out of it.

I have dentures and it makes chewing that cow hide pretty hard!

If you look you will see I was trying to add veggies. I was even weighing my meat! After I went to that other forum I tried doing it their way. I am so so so thankful whitedov brought me here. And I brought Lindaboca with me.

You will also see I was swimming my tail off!

Some would ask me if this was true and my reply was as true as true can get. I don't tell false truths. If someone cant handle true words dont ask me...

That all sounds good. I do like it grilled. Or pan fried with butter.
I could have mixed my Bragg with mother and EVOO. I didn't think about that at the time.....

Bring on the Cow! I wonder why the beef would help speed the loss and chicken would slow it down. Weird.

My DH bought some more chicken wings and pork ribs last night. So we got em and will eat em. I'm gonna use a food journal to track my eating and weight loss. So if it turns out to be the chicken, it will be baned from the house

I think I will be reading the DANDR a little faster. It seems to me that from what I have read so far he did make some improvements in his plan. I will always know in my heart that he made these changes to stop the bad rap LC had!

Knowing he said his WOE is not high fat helps me know adding fat is not always a useful tool!

I have seen ppl say to eat the fat off of the steak. Even Dr. Atkins did say to leave his bacon flopping and he did not leave fat from steak on his plate. But I bet he would say today to forgo the fat from steak and add a healthy fat in place of the fat laden toxins.
What do ya'll think???

Thin I did eat chicken and I still do. But red meat did speed up my weight loss.
Can you get the DANDR or the DADR book?

I CAN NOT WAIT TO GET INTO CHAPTER 3 OF THE DANDR! BUT I will still be doing most eating from his 72'book.

I am cutting back on the CO for 5 days see if it helps me get restarted! I consumed a lot while I was swimming last summer. I will be adding 3 tablespoons for 5 days. This is to replace the animal fat I do not consume.

OH I do still at pork neck bones! I think they help me lose....

I think it takes longer for beef to get out and that fact alone tells me I am still running on fat, burning fat and using my body fat stores up~

I would be very careful in which sauce I use. The bragg with mother and the EVOO can probably do the job. Look for hidden sugar
