awww marylouise, thanks for asking about me! I'm doing good. I'm now 15 lbs down from my highest weight and already feeling better, but I want to see onederland within the next couple of months! I hope it is possible! in fact, I'd be ecstatic if I saw 219 by April 1st!!! I know I will feel really good when I am in the 190s, and it just gets better and better from there.

I am only 26 but have a lot of knee pain and trouble with the way my body moves now. I almost don't remember what it was like to be under 200 lbs. I have always been a bit heavy, but crossed the 200 threshold in 2009 and got even heavier in late 2010 when I reached my all-time highest of 238. I've been hovering around there for a long time now and I'm tired of it. I feel like getting down to goal (even just onederland) would feel so freeing... I would even do a dance if I wasn't burdened with so much extra weight!

so basically I am feeling very hopeful and happy and excited today!

earlier in the week I was laid up with gastrointestinal issues. I slept 20 hours and then had lots of problems the next day... I stayed home so I could be close to the bathroom it seems there is a stomach flu going around in my very small town. so no exercise on that day and since then I have been too busy (I am working a few 70 hr weeks in a row ) but I'm going to try and squeeze in a short walk every day at least.

after that, though, everything has been great. I've been eating lots of bacon, steak, chicken breasts, roast beef... coconut bark, oopsie rolls and butter too. lots of Linda Sue's tuna muffins! flax muffins every so often (I'm suspicious of those). on one day this week I had two salads, but since then I haven't desired salad at all. today I made a broccoli salad with raw broccoli, bacon, red onions, cheddar, mayo and vinegar, so delicious and very filling. maybe tomorrow I will make chicken breasts with cheese and a bit of mushroom.

atkins recipes make me so happy

Hi TAT! It is great to see you! I am sorry you were so sick. Did you have a gain when you were sick? I always do and I wondered if that happened to you. Onederland is a fine mission and worth every step you are taking to get there!!!
TAT we can crank up the music and dance to the beat of our happy hearts when we get to goal!!!!!!!

That's a lot of work hours. Hope you find time for TAT on the way to and from work!
I understand being a little concerned with foods that aren't whole on our WOE. I have that fear also.
Your salad sounded great! And yes eating Atkins is good and it makes our bodies VERY HAPPY!!!
I have got to try those oopsie rolls!!!!!
Please keep in touch and be safe.

Oriana This is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew you could and would do it!

Dr. A said the more we eat the more and faster we lose. I lived in the kitchen for many months when I read that!!!

Thank you for the kind words! I did not gain, I might have lost like a pound but I think that was more from sleeping forever and thus not getting a chance to eat for a day!

I hope you are doing well Marylouise!

I am doing good! Yesterday I thought I would break and cheat myself by eating carrot cake with my home made cream cheese frosting but a few came and saved me from myself.

I did read some of the info on the FF. I am already eating so much fat and meat it is not too much different than that now

I am working so hard on getting to that ladder rung!

It's so hard after eating meat eggs and cheese for a whole YEAR!

I have a pot of pork neck bones on and it smells so
Maybe I can make myself eat a green bean with them bones

~Working on that ladder rung~ :-(

I had two threads combined. We all were bouncing back and forth and I thought this would be a great thing to do! I hope ya'll like it.

I bet everyone is loving this wonderful spring day.

I am sure having second thoughts about that ladder. I do know I need to see what I can eat to continue losing, but my weight loss is soooo slow now. It took me I know at least 6 weeks to lose last 20. I am a very fast loser, most times.

I am going to look the first of the month and see what good berries are in store and then I will know if I really am ready to start my climb. Yea that sounds like a plan.

Any and all thoughts are greatly

Have any of you heard of Banting? Go look it up, it's funny and interesting.

I thought 72 allowed a small amount of hard cheese, but my book is buried somewhere. I know it did not include cream cheese but a small amount of cottage cheese in Revolutionary rolls.

it's basically a Very Low Carb Diet based on meats and fats, and little to no vegetation. There's a forum of VLC folks here who follow something similar.

Marylouise, I've learned a lot of things over the year, and have agreed with things and then changed my mind, refused ideas then accepted them, It's all a work in progress, and I think being open to new interpretations and information is the key. I used to have knockdown drag out fights with BF over an issue and a decade later he's laughing at me cause I'd slowly changed my position, based on new information, so that now we agree! BF has a policy that if he's reading an authors opinion and they have a blatant falsehood or wrong information, he doesn't trust anything else they have to say. I'm a bit more forgiving. I think a person can be right on some things and wrong on others depending on how they are wrong. if it's information they lack that is easily findable, they lose credibility on any new issue cause I assume they didn't bother to research their position. however if they have a different interpretation based on the same data, I can see it as their opinion, especially if i agree with them on other topics but still based on the data, not because of who they are.

I generally have a low opinion of Dr. Oz because of the number of times he has presented mis-information or blatant lack of research to the public. So that even when he presents something that is true, I wonder his motives and sources. I've concluded that he's a talking head and just presents what is popular or NEW. The Raspberry Ketones being one. He presented it on his show as a weight loss supplement but it's never been tested on humans, he's endorsing it, and the people who've used it at LCF have had negligible results from it. Hype.

I think it's good to revisit topics we feel sure of because we might change our minds and it's good to carefully read articles that have the purpose of convincing rather than just presenting evidence and letting us make up our minds.

And y'know what, I can't use stevia in quantity, so my diet would be devoid of any sweetness without either sugar or AS, including the natural ones, so until I see proof that it's gonna cause more harm than good, I'm gonna be skeptical cause I like my Almond Flour pound cake and Splenda Sweetened cream cheese pie with Splenda Sweetened Cherry topping Mmmmm I'm gonna try to make some of Laurens caramel syrup with Erythritol, honey, cream and some other stuff. I wanna try to make some of Laurens homemade Atkins-style protein bars for on the road.

BTW, I'm not doing 72, I'm just a busy body. sorry 'bout that!

Metqa~ YOU are NOT a busy body! You are so very helpful and kind and sweet.

This is from 8.15.2011 I felt a strong urge to repost it~

~Reading~Learning~Changing~Understanding~
I think I know why I was having so much trouble getting my weight lose restarted! Red meat!!

When I first went on Atkins this go around, in March. I ate a ton of red meat. I mean a real ton! Steak and eggs. Fried eggs, in CO. Scrambled eggs with CO. Cheese. Cheese with eggs. Cheese fried in a pan until it is brown and crunchie. That stuff will make you sit up and take notice Fried cheese is soooooo gooddddddd

I know our super markets are not a good source of red meat. The fat in that meat is toxic! I did eat it one time last week. UGH! It was horrible. Now I am replacing that fat for a healthy chain fat! CO! And Extra virgin olive oil~~

The toxin's that they feed our beef with, I could name a few~but yall know what I'm talking about. No way we can go to a good source for our red meat. It would take half of our income. This month we got red meat again. With a small change, we could afford to eat red meat again. We are getting the cheapest cut of red that is tenderized with the meat packers machine. We both can eat that and it does not matter if it is prime or thirds!

We ate all chicken last month. Did I lose last month? NO! I did not. I am back to eating red meat and real cheese and great eggs Got the train rolling again!

But make no mistake it is done. It has to be cooked done. It is probably full of bad stuff from the metal machine's~~~~
Cook it done~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have not been washing it off. I always did before. I don't really have a good reason as to why I am not washing it. Should I wash it? Maybe I should. I think maybe I should. Yes I am going to wash it. I wash a full cut of meat. I know I have heard it too. Don't wash off you meat. That's bull dulkie

I have watched a few cooking show's. I have heard more that one person say" don't wash your meat off, it will not brown correctly", bull dulkie! I'm not too proud of myself for getting lazy about washing my meat. The ground is the most important one to wash Okdokie. Me gona stop being lazy and wash my meat. I never really stopped washing my meat. It is just the tenderized cuts look like they could fall to pieces and that is the reason I don't wash it. Bad boo~boo!!

My sister stopped by for a short visit. I had several of her things packed up and as I was carrying them to her old room she said no don't put it in there. I will take it with me. My poor sister make mistake. Her car is loaded!

Her legs are swollen so badly I told her she was going to go into congested heart failure, if she does not stop long enough to rid the excess fluid!
About a year ago I asked her if I could go with her to her doctors visit. I told her I wanted to met her doctor. He looks just like Richard Dreyfuss. He really could be his double! I brought up the subject of excess fluid. He turned the chair around and put his feet up on the table. He said Nathleen, get your heart lower that your feet! He was leaning back as he said it to her. I bet he is fun to be around!! I just now left James a message on his cell phone. I sent a text to Nathleen and asked her to get James to check his messages

It frees my soul~~knowing my sister is happy and safe in her own home. She has the family she created all around her. I'm going home to mine! We all win in the end. Regaining her life was not easy. But she did it!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today.
Boy what a difference a day makes. Seems like yesterday. I think I had lost around 40 pounds when I wrote this
Ya'll may have already read it. It is on page 13
Please forgive me for posting it again.
Well, in fact Tat is correct, the fat fast was intended for individuals who tried Atkins Induction but could not lose while following the directions exactly, usually because of hormonal or other body problems.
The fat fast was not recommended for everyone because it is severely nutritionally deficient in vitamins and protein and is prescribed only for a week's time. It forces the body into ketosis quickly and jumpstarts the process so that the person can then move back into induction levels with some progress rather than giving up.
Many people have modified the Fat Fast and use it conditionally for stalls and jumpstarting their weight loss. No one prescribes fat fast anymore, it's a persons choice to use it, so people can use it anyway they choose, even for stalls.
I think TAT's comment was out of frustration that something that could be dangerous is casually recommended for simple stalls, and doesn't want to see people maybe damage themselves.
It is a low calorie, high fat, very low protein fast. you do have to be careful with having so many extremes all at once.
OTOH, people do find that it does "jumpstart" weight loss and use it at their discretion when they personally determine that induction is not working for them. so to each his own, really.
I don't think the fat fast is so dangerous. Heck, I used to water fast; talk about deficient!!
Really, any 'fast' may help break a chain of out of control eating.
It's better than the alternative, for sure and probably has some healing effect.
mock Atkins bars, covered in dark chocolate and filled with caramel bars with a nice crunch from slivered almonds:
Those are the most wonderful looking bars I have seen.
I will be making this one as soon as I can!
I am a true chocoholic. That is why I had to eat A. bars. It has been several months since I bought a box. Besides the cost being so high, I wanted to stop eating FrankenFood!
Hi Jem! How did your work weekend go? It's good to see you!
About that FF. I do eat a lot of fat. I have read a little bittie bit about it. If I increased my meat/ fat ratio I couldn't handle it!
Thanks for asking Marylouise; the weekend was a zoo, especially Saturday.
I am a hospice RN and only work weekends, on call. I run all over the county and barely keep my head above water a lot of the time.
I have only been working for this company for 2 1/2 years and am just hanging on....I will retire when I'm 62 and not a day later!!
I love hospice nursing but the pace is a killer....even doing just wknds.
I tried googling around for that recipe but didn't get the hint. I may do some type of Atkins bar though...LC bars are expensive and I do love dark chocolate.
So happy you made past the carrot cake. But if you keep making these desserts, you are just causing yourself stress w the temptation.
Linda Sue's no bake cheesecakes are easy and I am a fan of easy.
Speaking of....why not tell the hubby that you are possibly willing to test out some of Linda's recipes...kind of a truce?
Hi everyone! I had a minor slip for 10 minutes today and ate real ice cream I had been dreaming about it and it wasn't even that tasty. ?? Then, the strangest thing happened. I passed out for two hours!!!! The sugar made me totally exhausted that I just fell asleep in the middle of the day. Well, I'm back on track now! I'd rather have the awesome energy back! I feel so much better low carbing!
It's better than the alternative. I said these very same words before getting started. I was thinking and I said It's better than the alternative.
I was scared to go on this woe. I really truly was. My cup is half full now. I was empty. I am not in poor health. I am not in great or even good health.
This WOE has changed my life. And I am still scared of it. I am sitting on a sea saw. And I am in the middle. Trying to hold my balance. And feeling like I am gona fail, yet another time.
Please don't think I am feeling depressed and confused. Well the confused part is a given. I am not feeling sorry for myself. No I'm not doing that. I am only out here searchin for my life time WOE and not ever being over weight again. I am a Fairly Healthy, Happy, Normal weight, Friendly, Kind, Thinner Loving woman. I am married. I have 2 grown sons and 6 grand kids. The second born grand son got married last year. I have had a eating disorder since I was 11 or 12. I can lose weight pretty easily. I can not maintain it. I am here too learn how to find the secret code and how to keep it forever.
I can't find the Secret code to staying slim.
Knock Knock let me in and throw away the key.
I'm a ways from the weight that my body wants to be.
But I must find that Secret code.
I must locate the ingredients.
I must find the Secret code and locate the ingredients.
Or do I find the ingredients and locate the Secret code.
To not do that, is the Alternative....
I'm rambling. Turn your page.
It is so good to met you!
That sugar knocked you out. For real. You mean like a Christmas dinner kind of
Once you make up your mind you will never look at food the same way again.
That's what I feel like anyway. From what I have seen several are the same way.
I was very low carb then I was VVLC for a few months. For a year I have been 20 or lower carbs. Well looking at that I must have been VVLC more on than off since last March.
I hope you enjoy having fun while you lose weight~~~
Yes carbs rob one from having fun and feeling good!........
