The main time I am having a problem is evenings from 4:00 to 6:00. My evening meal sometimes is a 2 hr. feast (if you know what I mean). I do pretty well during the day until that time; I am changing my actions this evening (hopefully) - had a little snack and more water to drink and am fine now. Will do some walking now and keep myself busy. I think it is out of boredom this time of day because my day is winding down. Your little note of encouragement really did save me from repeating my "feast" this evening. Seems like maybe I have a new start. I am thankful I haven't gained this week, but I certainly haven't loss anything either. I just need to get here more often and let you girls keep my out of trouble. Are you bored yet? Just kidding. Thank you so much and hope all have a wonderful evening, Hope |

I pasted this here. It is Gary Taubes words
So we do a randomized-controlled trial. Take as many people as we can afford, randomize them into two groups — one that eats a lot of red meat and bacon, one that eats a lot of vegetables and whole grains and pulses-and very little red meat and bacon — and see what happens. These experiments have effectively been done. They’re the trials that compare Atkins-like diets to other more conventional weight loss diets — AHA Step 1 diets, Mediterranean diets, Zone diets, Ornish diets, etc. These conventional weight loss diets tend to restrict meat consumption to different extents because they restrict fat and/or saturated fat consumption and meat has a lot of fat and saturated fat in it. Ornish’s diet is the extreme example. And when these experiments have been done, the meat-rich, bacon-rich Atkins diet almost invariably comes out ahead, not just in weight loss but also in heart disease and diabetes risk factors. I discuss this in detail in chapter 18 of Why We Get Fat, ”The Nature of a Healthy Diet.” The Stanford A TO Z Study is a good example of these experiments. Over the course of the experiment — two years in this case — the subjects randomized to the Atkins-like meat- and bacon-heavy diet were healthier. That’s what we want to know.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He posted that March 14th. I am getting more interested in his writings. Some of what I read today is making me wonder if all this news going around about the red slime in meat is so ppl will back off of it and start eating the grains cows eat, instead of eating the cows. Sure making me wonder. I must find his writings and read every word. I am not saying I need more proof to this WOE. I am saying I want to see all the OZIES proved wrong. And the ADA, to me, this blows them out of the water. Last edited by marylouise; 03-23-2012 at 07:35 PM.. Reason: added words~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
![]() Unfortunately, I despise the taste of celery! I know it's far more healthy and probably a lot more much-needed fiber, but I literally have to spit it out if I get ambushed with a chunk. Carefully minced up as part of a sauce base is fine, and my homemade won ton filling I use a bit minced up, but if any tastable chunks get by... ![]() Yup, Granny Smith apple, but I used about 3/4 of it, peeled, and this batch made five servings. If the whole (edible portion) apple is 17.5 grams, that's about 2 carbs per serving for the amount I used. Water chestnuts add more crunch with about one more carb for what I used, the green onions are 2 x .7 net carbs, so one fifth of that would be one third of a carb. Mayo reads zero carbs as do boneless, skinless chicken breast strips and fresh ground pepper. Caloriecount.com actually rated the recipe an A-minus in overall health! ![]() Last edited by MargeGunderson; 03-23-2012 at 09:42 PM.. |
Well I am sure it is a healthy dish, but the natural sugar in apples can and will stall or slow down weight loss. On A we wait until the carb ladder with the scary animals all around us to start adding things like berries and other fruit. It is just what I have read. Remember the black pepper. ![]() |
![]() Have a good weekend at work. I don't know what you do but anything has to be better than sitting at home all weekend, as I most times do! My husband went to help his brother and I am sitting here with our two dogs in the bus feeling kind of down.....Don't get sunshine in here. We do have full spectrum lights in here though. I hope they are helping me to not get to sad in here. I was hoping to get out tomorrow and fish with my grand son and his new wife, but those plans were put on hold. My husband wants a carrot cake. I read Dr. Mercola. Can't post a link he has adds on his web site.
Dr. Mercola is as close to Dr. Atkins as I have had the pleasure to find. Taubes of course, as I am finding out, is another great source too! Dr. Mercola has been on the OZ show. Him and Mercola disagree on the best WOE for health. Oz is a loves of grain and Mercola is a lover of meat. I said once Oz can grase{spell check} on grains and I will eat the cow that eat the same grains! Don't take offense to this please. I am sure Oz has helped tons of ppl lose weight, I recond??? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dr. Mercola's words this morning.... The foods eaten by most Westerners today bear little resemblance to the foods our hunter-gatherer ancestors ate. And our lifestyles are equally non-reflective of our roots. Our bodies evolved to weather the cycles of feast and famine; to accumulate body fat easily in order to make it through times when food was scarce. But the famine never comes now, so all we have is the feast. And feast upon feast upon feast adds up to a LOT of extra body fat. The documentary points out that 68 percent of U.S. adults are now overweight or obese. Hunter-gatherers consumed foods with high nutrition and low calories. Today, most Americans are getting the converse—high calories and low nutrition. Many are overfed, yet starving to death. Their bodies are accumulating fat and pollutants from intentional AND unintentional contaminants in our food supply, causing their biological systems to shut down and be vulnerable to a variety of chronic diseases. Adding to the caloric excess is an exercise deficit. As a culture, we've gotten away from farms and moved to cities, adopting an indoor lifestyle that expends far fewer calories. Instead of walking, we ride in cars. Instead of running from tigers, we chase cursors around a screen. We have completely lost touch with where our food comes from and what goes into creating it. Our very relationship with food has changed, and not for the better. Last edited by marylouise; 03-24-2012 at 07:23 AM.. Reason: correct text~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
