Hi Girls,
I have been MIA pretty much this weekend. Taking it easy. Congrats ML on your loss! This is really working for you!Linda B: How're you doing? This weekend I added a little bit of veggies - 1/4 cup of french cut string beans and green bell peppers at 2 different meals. I didn't weigh myself either this weekend. I think I have TOM coming because appetite/cravings have increased, belly feels bloated. Maybe it's the extra carbs I'll just eat meat and iceburg today and see what happens. |

I just found this forum!!
Quote:
I decided when my Husband and I committed to losing weight, we would follow a strict 65/5/30 (65% calories from Fat, 5% carbs, 30% protein). That is the magic formula as far as I'm concerned. I tried Fit Day and didn't like it. I actually have a comprehensive Excel spreadsheet and it has all the foods I normally eat. Also, I use calorieking.com and the USDA nutrition site to calculate the food values of EVERYTHING! It is so encouraging to read peoples' journeys on this forum. I am wishing you all success!! Let's help each other here. If you slip up, the next bite must be full fat and carb free ![]() |

![]() This thread has pretty much petered out for now. MaryLouise (original poster) is in the process of moving but she is doing well (via regular email) Yes, for the most part the original Atkins will break a stall or faciliate more weight loss than the higher carb versions of the latter books; however, the food is limited quite a bit. I am actually eating some meals to the Atkins 72 plan and some meals to the Atkins 2002-Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution known as DANDR. Constipation has been a problem from lack of veggies so I am trying to balance between the 2 plans. I've also added exercise slowly which should kick up my metabolism and tone me, hopefully. Great attitude and keep writing. I am on this thread and write on another thread as well so I'll see you if you write. I'm hoping MaryLouise comes back on after her move so we can get this thread alive and hopping again! |

I just ordered the 1972 book on Amazon but am really curious to learn what the differences are. I'm having a hard time getting pink (let alone purple) ketosticks, something in my diet must be off and am thinking of trying this zero carb thing - is that meat only to get there?

Hello Ladies. So glad I came across this thread. May I please join your group? I lost 72 pounds on Atkins back in 2006; however, gained it all back. I've decided to follow Atkins 72, as I find it to be clean and simple. I have the book and will send some time today getting familiar again with how it works.
I'm sorry, but I didn't read the entire thread. Could someone repost the 1968 food list? Thanks a bunch and I look forward to getting to know you all. Meek |

Hi Skinny! Sure you can join the group! As you can see, we don't post so often in this thread, but do pop in to post progress reports from time to time. I lost 18# on Atkins back in 2006, too. Gained it all back int he stressful time right after that when my Dad died. Mom was diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (and now dementia) since he passes and my responsibilities helping her manage her life have been stressful to say the least, as she lives 2½ hours away. Much road time; much paperwork; much stress; chronic cortisol issues. But things are settling back down and I restarted April 2009. Have lost 29# and want to lose 26 more.
I am following Atkins 1972 as spelled out in post #1 of the separate thread atop this forum. I've not seen a 1968 list of foods.

hey y'all! Jumping in-- I'm on Atkins '72-- and I've just joined a gym. Will be posting my menus and workouts-- starting today:
Breakfast: Coffee, Half and Half, Saccharine sweetener-- 2 beef franks (jumbo) with two ultra thin slices Swiss Cheese Lunch: Iced Americano w HWC/Splenda Dinner: Country-Style Ribs Tonight, I'm planning on smothering the pork with Salsa, Sour Cream and Sharp Cheddar. 3 pounds country-style pork ribs ( I used same amount of Pork Roast instead) ½ cup (120 ml) sugar-free pancake syrup 3 tablespoons (4.5 g) Splenda 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce ¼ cup (40 g) chopped onion ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon ½ teaspoon ground ginger ½ teaspoon ground allspice 3 cloves garlic, crushed ¼ teaspoon pepper teaspoon cayenne Put the ribs in a slow cooker. In a bowl, mix together the remaining ingredients. Pour the mixture over the ribs. Cover the slow cooker, set it to low, and let it cook for 9 hours. Yield: 6 servings Each with 27 g protein, 2 g carbohydrate, trace dietary fiber, 2 g usable carbs. Analysis does not include polyol sweetened in sugar-free Syrup. Carpender, Dana (2010-03-01). 1001 Low-Carb Recipes: Hundreds of Delicious Recipes from Dinner to Dessert That Let You Live Your Low-Carb Lifestyle and N (p. 441). Fair Winds Press. Kindle Edition. Have you tried or considered using cinnamon capsules to help with your blood sugar. My mother has gone back to using them and she said her blood sugar is so much better now. What a shame it would be to never be able to have veggies or fruits. |
