I went to Fat Secrets and added the bacon. It came back with 0 carbs.
It does say no sugar or carbs on the label. But on the front it says third ingred. is sugar. This confuses me ![]() It also says it is smoked. |

Wright Bacon. I guess it must okay to eat it.
Before I found atkins site and changed all my eating. I was losing as much as 3 to 5 pounds a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ate pounds and pounds of red meat and the Wright bacon. Plus sausage and eggs. I was drinking the shakes and eating the bars. Plus eating a salad every day with EVOO and Bragg vinegar. Oh also I was eating the sauerkraut in a glass jar. They keep this kind in the cooler. Cant think of the name of it. I am not giving up. I know if it worked then it has to work now. I am hoping it is just because I was eating so many carbs on the nany!!!

Hi everyone and newbies
![]() ****** 8/7/2011: Total Calories: 1219 Fat: 90.3 g Carbs: 5.2 g Protein: 91.4 g Fat: 67% Protein: 32% Carbs: 2% B: Black coffee L: 3 eggs, 2 slices bacon D: 1 cup lettuce w/ranch dressing and 1/2 lb homemade cheeseburgers ML: One of the questions I have on the 1972 Atkins is he calls it ZERO Carbs but we know there are carbs in eggs, cheese, lettuce, cucumbers and celery. All approved for Induction. Plus, if you make his Revo Rolls - he has cottage cheese and eggs - carbs in both and he does approve these rolls for Induction. I see a bit of a contradiction. Did you or anyone else notice this? ![]() I'm still sticking with it because I am so far doing better with this version as opposed to the other versions later in date.

I know the liver did, note that I skipped the cheese last night. Nothing in the book said no organ meat, but liver does process glucose, so...
Dinner tonight was 6oz of seasame seed, onion powder and pepper crusted Ahi Tuna. 1 Cup iceberg (hubby hates the romaine) w/ 1 sliced chicken breast tender mayo dressing. 2 oz Edam cheese |

I also have fibromyalgia and this humidity has been just plain miserable. |

I would stay away from the shakes and bars. Try to eat as clean as you can. AS if you must, but stay away from the processed crap like bars and shakes. You should be able to ID your food! I'm OK with getting some protein powder and making shakes, but not buying a bottled shake. Making your own shakes allows you to know the ingredients. |

Nevermind, I looked up NANY. I don't like it. It was published many years after his death, and I think it's a bastardized version of the diet in order to push the bars and shakes. There isn't a lot of money to be made from book sales alone, KWIM? I also question the bars and the shakes in general because they are so heavily processed. Atkins preached in DANDR that you should be able to ID your food easily from farm/pasture to table-you can't do that with the bars and shakes because they are to heavily processed. I'd bet Dr. Atkins is rolling over in his grave over these new products.

For the first week he says 'biologically zero' carbs. We know there are some amount of carbs in some of the foods on the first week list, but I think the idea is that the total of those carbs which might be a few grams would be so small as to not really make much difference, or 'biologically zero'.

If you mention Atkins 1972 or DANDR on the Atkins board nowadays, you are bastardized! They are strictly pushing the New Atkins for a New You. I bought the book, read it, tossed it aside. I guess if you are coming from a high carb/low fat diet, their diet will improve those people; however, if you are already doing Dr. Atkins 1968,1972,2002 - the new one will make you gain. |

See, I crave liver sometimes. I think my body needs the vitamins in it despite the multivitamin. So, if my body craves the liver, I will eat it. It's so lovely when cooked proper. Creamy in the middle...mmmm! I don't listen to all cravings, however. Like if I'm craving a doughnut..uh..no!
Liver *processes* not *produces* glucose. I saw a negative review of the NANY book on Amazon that other people were trashing saying the poster of the review was wrong about Atkins saying to not count calories, and they cited the 72 version of the book with a very short quote. I chastised them and posted the whole section that the quote was from. You can't just pick and choose what you want from a book to make it suit you. Heck, I could edit Atkins so heavily that it would appear he said to eat sweets. ![]() Last edited by lilith79; 08-07-2011 at 08:04 PM.. |

Speaking of multi-vitamins....I'll never forget when I heard a man that emptied Port A Potties for a living. He found thousands of Centrum and other hard vitamins in it - meaning they don't break down into the system to do a lick of work. So, now I try to buy the capsules (clear w/powder) type.
What kind and brand do you all use? |

I never got to say how my GYN appointment went on Friday. It went well and she recommends I do nothing right now in the form of HRT.
She did give me options for controlling my erratic TOM's but I nixed it and said I don't want to take any prescription meds,BC pills, IUD if I don't have to. I even stopped my Lipitor a month ago and depending on Atkins to lower my cholesteral. She said I am taking very good care of myself and doesn't have a problem with Atkins. She offered me a water pill for my peri-meno water problems but said that water pills make your body dependent on them eventually. I said No, Atkins has a direutic effect anyway and she agreed. |
