November Challenge--Atkins '72

Whoops!! I just realized we need a new thread--it is November!

I did not make my October goals--I only lost either 4 or 5 pounds--gotta check Fitday to see where I started. But number goals are out of my control.

More disappointingly, I didn't do a very good job with my exercise goals, so that will be where I focus in November.

Erica, Katie, Pat, Divine? What are your plans for November? Share them!

Today's food

Here's my day's menu:

B: 2 T. yogurt (I shared it with my sick kitty--he's mad for yogurt), leftover pot roast, coffee w/CO
L: chicken stew, 1 T. sour cream, cheese
D: pulled pork topped with shredded cheddar (made this for the kitty too, but he's sharing it with me)

Jessica,

October was a disaster, plain and simple. I'm hoping that November is much better. Everything that used to work, doesn't now, and I'm not sure what to do differently.

Needless to say, I am not giving up.

That's 6 carbs, 106 grams of protein, and 964 calories so far. Dinner is usually the problem.

Morning Ladies!

Okay, yesterday's menu:

Breakfast:
Chix taco salad, no crust, coffee, splenda, hwc

Snack: coffee, splenda, hwc, sf jello, pork cracklins

Dinner: leftover rib, 2 chix sausages with cheese, water, water and more water

Hunger is going away again, and my clothing is getting looser. Bloat is going away.

Today, I'm making crab cakes or crab salad--that will be dinner. For lunch I'm making chix taco salad again and taking it to work with the pork cracklins and a sf jello. Beverage is water-- and coffee.

Ciao for now. :-)

Hey there! I should really wait until I see if this will work until posting since I've been flitting around different threads lately .

My mom did the original Atkins back when it was fresh off the press and lost her weight on it (she didn't have much to lose, but it worked - took her 3 months). I've been on PP, lc/Juddd, lc/Fast 5, etc. so although I've been keeping it all lc, I've only lost a few pounds (been lc'ing off and on since last year at this time). So, I'm going to give the original a try. I already can't wait to add my yocheese back in next week - I really, really love it. Really.

Here's what I've had so far today:

B - Coffee w/sf syrups and cream
L - Chicken salad (chicken, lettuce, cheese, dressing (real mayo mixed with mustard and splenda - homemade honey mustard dressing )
S - Coffee w/sf syrups and cream, hb egg and a smidge of aforementioned homemade honey mustard dressing)
D - (planning on a burger w/cheese and mayo)

I've been immersed in the old threads since last night - interesting reading!

I don't see why hot dogs wouldn't be "legal." I know I eat them. I just account for the carbs according to what the package says. There can be a big variation among brands.

That was a lot of sodium in your day, though, with bacon, sausage and hot dogs. It might make you retain a little water. If that happens, just drink a ton of water get that salt out of your system. Might take a day or two.

And welcome to our group--hope you'll stick around and join us.

Hey!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. My husband needed to take the computer with him to work.
I figured out one of my problems is that I am so use to low-fat diets and I wasn't taking in enough fat to really keep me satisfied and from gorging on too much protein.

My goal for November is to atleast stay the same, but try to lose 2.8 lbs to reach goal. Stick with the diet during the holidays- I'll be going on Vacation soon and then Thanksgiving. Any advice about sticking to the plan when with family?

I finally broke 121lbs today to reach 120.8!! I haven't been that in 3 years!

Congratustions Jessica on 35 lbs!! You really stuck to it!
Do you have a plan, a gym membership, a time of day that works best for you, or anything else to help stick with exercising more?

This is the plan that usually works for me. Alternate days that focus on cardio vs. strength/polymetrics. If I am running I try to do it right when I wake up and then I am done for the day. If I am lifting I take a class at the gym (usually in the evening), because I will do more in a structured class than I would on my own. The time goes by really quickly too.

Yesterday's menu:
B Splenda, coffee, eggs, cheese,
L: 1 wing, chicken breast, blue cheese, broccoli, shirataki noodles
S: eggs, choc, splenda
D: Eggs, cheese, sausage, broccoli
S: Egg, choc, splenda, 10 almonds

Exercise: CRT class at the gym, extra weight training after

Menu for today: hmmmm.....
B: Splenda, coffee, eggs, cheese
L: 1 wing, chicken tenderloin, cheese, salad
S: eggs, choc, splenda
D: Will depend what time we make it to Costco- I love that place!
S: Eggs, choc, and splenda

Hi ladies! Only on day 3 but last night I finally got a "moderate" reading on the ketosis stix. I don't do them often, just every few days or so just to see what's going on. It's the first time I've been anything other than "none" or in between "none" and "trace." Haven't lost anything yet, but hopefully I'll see something come off soon.

Today's menu:

B: Coffee w/sf syrups, coconut oil, egg, cream
L: Salad w/bacon, hb egg, lettuce and my honey mustard dressing*)
D: Planning on having sausage and eggs

*-found the honey mustard dressing recipe at Vickie's Kicking the Low Carb Klutter (think that's the proper name).

Glad to see hot dogs are okay .. they are so quick!! And I lurve quick!!

Morning, Vanilla! Glad you found your way back to us. I would LOVE it if you share your honey mustard recipe!

No change for me this morning. I've been at the same weight since Sunday, so I'm hoping for a loss one of these mornings.

Hope you guys have a great low carb day!

Hey Jessica- what supplements are you taking?

Sorry I haven't been posting, I'm sharing my husband's computer and he's needed it for work.

Yesterday I did not low-carb. My husband is a wonderful man but was very concerned about my "diet" and what my plan is when I reach my goal weight in 2 lbs. Add in more carb? He was very worried because he said he could smell the ketones on my breath, which I explained losing weight is the point. I think it is very tough for a guy to understand what it is like to be woman, and I am a woman that particularly enjoys food. (I ate ALOT of brownie cheesecake strudel yesterday)

It did not feel good to not low-carb yesterday. I feel very in control of what I eat, that I'm not emotionally eating ever, and I usually feel full on low carb.

Tomorrow's Menu:
B: Coffee, splenda, 2 eggs, cheese
L: Taco Salad - Meat, lettece, spices, and cheddar cheese
S: unsweetened Choc, splenda, cinnamon and eggs ofcourse - It is great, 3 carbs, packed with protein and fat
D: Burger minus bun?
Rock-climbing
S: Another burger? Depending how hungry I am?
S: "chocolate eggs"

Vickie's recipe for Honey Mustard is super simple and quick! I"ll post it at the bottom. Oh, and when we're eating out and I need a salad dressing, I ask them to bring me a little cup thing of mayo and regular mustard, mix it up and add a package of Splenda. Oooh .. I'll have to try that and order grilled chicken tenders sometime.

Me, too (well 4 not counting Sunday since I wasn't Atkins '72'ing yet). Down to the tenth of a pound. But, considering I'm using lots of coconut oil daily and not gaining, that's a good thing!

I ended up having a "tuna melt" (tuna, mayo, cheese and zap it all till the cheese is gooey) for dinner and later had a half an avocado and a hb egg dipped in the honey mustard dressing for a snack (I was out for the evening between the two).

I'm pretty routine, so my menu's the same:

B: Coffee w/splenda, sf syrups, hwc, coconut oil
L: Bacon salad (bacon, lettuce, hb egg, cheese, honey mustard dressing)
S: 2 hb eggs dipped in dressing
D: The tuna melt sounds like a winner again or maybe a burger w/cheese (had my 2 cups of lettuce for lunch).
S: Something, not sure what (I need a little something awhile after dinner). Maybe diet soda with a little cream in it.

Okay, here's the dressing recipe.

Honey Mustard Dressing
(Vickie at Kickin' Carb Clutter)

1/2 c. mayo
1 T spicy brown mustard
2 tsp. Splenda

Mix it all up and there ya go!

I do that exact same thing with tuna! I like sharp cheddar to kinda zip the flavor up!

Your honey mustard sounds perfect, and I'm going to whip some up today! I actually have some xylitol-based sugar free honey, and I think I'll use that instead of Splenda. Yum--can't wait! And I'm with you--sounds perfect for chicken tenders!

I won't be back till late tonight, girls. Stay on plan and have a great low carb day!

I can't wait to make that honey mustard dressing too!

The chocolate eggs would not actually be allowed during induction, but I love chocolate and I just make sure to keep my carb under 20 still.

I hard boil eggs and take out the yolk- it just doesn't seem pretty with the yellow in it.
I sprinkle cinnamon over the eggs.
I microwave half a square of unsweetened bakers chocolate at 30 sec. intervals.
Then I add a packet of splenda.
Sometimes I add 2 walnuts crushed up.

I don't want to mess anyone's diet up though because this isn't allowed during induction. It works for me though, I want a diet that I can be on for life, and I am still losing!

Hey y'all...

Yesterday I had the most amazing menu...

Breakfast: Coffee, Cream Splenda with nutmeg and cinnamon

Lunch: Crockpot pork roast

Snack: Crab Cakes and homemade sauce, diet Hansen's ginger ale...

Dinner: Crockpot pork roast

Snack: More Crab Cakes, pork rinds with melted butter and cinnamon, water.

Heaven.

I have a friend of mine who did Atkins, and dropped 70lbs. She dropped it due to stress, and the inability to resist certain "taboo" foods. Currently she's living on sweets, breads, etc,. I think of this, and wonder-- when you can legally have crab cakes--how can you feel deprived?

Why is it that eating foods that are not only crappy, but actively bad for you is a "comfort"?

My friend has gained back all the weight she lost, and then some. Makes me sad to see her--and she seems to have given up. But she doesn't have the support of this board, and in particular, this group of Ladies. I think that would have helped her.

So, thank you, Diet Buddies!

Off to get some more canned crab for more crab cakes!

You have the chutzpah to stick with it! That, in itself, is a blessing!

Y'know, it's just weird-- I was going to write this gushing report of my menu, and then I realized how lucky I was --not only to be on a diet that I enjoy so much, but also that we all have each other as backup for when it gets hard. in other words...

WE ROCK!!!
