Switching back to Atkins 72

I am in my 2nd week of Induction but I have been counting net carbs and following the newer Atkins program. I was really confused.. I thought that the program had changed and didn't realize that people on Atkins were following two different programs. I did Atkins about 7 years ago with great success but I was counting whole carbs.. not net carbs. I remember eating very low carbs and all the protein that I wanted with no limit. I lost 4 lbs the first week with the other program but haven't lost anything this week. The older version suits my lifestyle better and I end up eating that way anyway so I want to begin Induction again on Atkins 72. Is there a problem with switching from one way of eating to the other? Will this mess me up or hinder weight loss? Can anyone give me an overview of the Atkins 72 WOE? I live outside the US and can't get the book right now.

The very top thread under this topic (Atkins '72) has a nutshell explanation of '72 that should answer all your questions. It has a thorough list of acceptable foods, and a description of how and when to add other carbs. I personally am choosing to continue induction for a while.

I can see absolutely no problem with your changing versions of the program. Many people choose to lower their carbs during the process to achieve more effective weight loss or because they learn that they have a low critical carb level for losing, and that's all you'd be doing.

I really like 72 because it's so simple and involves fairly limited choices. For me, that lessens the chances of making a mistake!

Good luck to you!

I, too, recently went back to induction for two weeks and lost the weight that I had gained. I had started adding too many carbs to my diet, and I quickly gained 7 lbs. Just two weeks on induction took care of them. Eating the Atkins bars and other packaged products just didn't work for me. I prefer the original program of 1972 without the pre-packaged stuff.
