What do you think?
Hi Everyone, First wanted to tell you all how wonderful these boards are!! I’ve seen awesome inspirations!! I have been about preparing myself to start Atkins. I was reading the DANDR but it got a bit overwhelming
so I decided to K.I.S.S. ( keep it simple silly, to be more PC…lol) and go with Atkins ’72. I just got my book today and will be reading it cover to cover but in the meantime I would appreciate any and all criticisms, advice, suggestions or ideas you guys may have when I post my menus!!! This is what today looks like for me. Breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 slices bacon (7am) Snack: 2 large leaves of romaine lettuce (for wraps) (11:00am) 2 slices bacon, 1 tbsp mayo Lunch: 4 oz tilapia (broiled with ½ tbsp tbsp of olive oil) (2:00pm) Small salad (2 oz each of lettuce and cucumbers, .5 oz shredded cheese, ½ tbsp each of red wine vinegar and olive oil) Dinner (planned 6:00pm): Turkey-Dark meat w/ skin (4 oz) Small salad (2 oz each of lettuce and cucumbers, .5 oz shredded cheese, ½ tbsp each of red wine vinegar and olive oil) Totals: 1113 calories/ 76.3g fat (20.6 sat. fat)/10.1 total carbs (net carbs 6.9)/ 3.2g fiber/ 4.7g sugar/ 95.g protein!!! So any suggestions, creative criticisms? Do my fats, carbs and proteins look to high? I was trying to go as low as possible on the carbs because I am carb sensitive but I don’t think I can absolutely live without some veggies. Any ideas there? Thanks Everyone!!!!!!!!!!! |

I think you are VERY smart to go with '72! I've done DANDR before, but '72 is far easier and more effective for a carb-sensitive person like me (and you!)
One thing--I don't think you have enough calories there. Too few calories will slow your metabolism, and you do not want that. How about trying to add some fat? More olive oil on your salad, and cook those eggs in a generous amount of butter, maybe a bit more cheese or some crumbled bacon on the salad. (Some days when I haven't had enough fat/calories, I eat a tablespoon or two of heavy cream at the end of the day.) A higher fat % equals better losses, in my experience. Good luck! I think you'll do well.

Thanks Verbqueen,
![]() Thank you so much for that! I truly appreciate the help. I am struggling with that changing the whole mind set issue of adding the extra fat and calories. I am learning the difference between the foods with good and bad fats. Tomorrow I will incorporate your suggestions and see how it looks! |

You just have to experiment and see what works for you. There are those who say that dairy products stall them, so be cautious! (FWIW, they don't seem to bother me at all.)

Sorry! That's just an internet acronym-stands for "For What It's Worth." You might also see "YMMV," which stands for "Your Mileage May Vary," meaning this worked for me, but it might not work for you.
Also, there's KWIM, Know What I Mean? WTG, Way to Go, and lots of other ones. Just ask if you see something you can't figure out! |
