Doing well so far...zero carbs

Hello all.... I have been doing awesome...I think. I started 72 on Wednesday July 8th and I am reporting moderate ketosis levels. I never reached purple the time before when I was on the new version. I am down 16 pounds on my 9thday. Prob all water but still nice to see. I eat roughly three meals a day.... here is an example:

Breakfast: Sausage patty - 0 carbs
Egg patties- yes I found frozen circular egg patties- 1 carb however
Slice of American Cheese- says 0 carbs

Lunch: Hamburger Patty- thats it!

Dinner: Chicken Breast, hamburger patty or some steak- thats it.

I have never been a veggie eater which even makes salad difficult... I am taking a mulivitamin every morning to hopefully at least give my system nutrients it needs.

Am I doing this all wrong and how long can I stay on the 72 induction??
Also, with this diet you always here from others that people fall over dead from this lifestyle of fatty foods. I guess I will have to wait and see...ha... JK.

There is a group of people, myself included, who follow a zero carb diet all the time. I just eat meat and drink water and have perfect health. But, I would eat real cheese , not processed cheese. Stick to all real foods. I eat a lot more than you, I eat about 3 pounds of hamburger a day, so one burger at lunch? Not enough for me, I have 4 giant burgers.

I wish I could do zero carb because when I eat to much protein my legs and feet swell and I get joint pain. You are doing great 16 pounds in 9 days.

How does this work?

I only eat 7 - 10 grams of carbs a day and that comes from mayo, eggs and a fraction comes from lettuce and cucumbers.

If you all are doing 0 carbs.. do you still eat high fat? I find that if I'm eating a lot of protein that I need more fat.

What about fiber? Is there a problem in that area if you have no veggies?

wow, egg patties? I've never heard of that before.
Do you mean like a circular egg like on an egg mcmuffin? I can make those at home. I have a Back to Basics TEM500 Egg-and-Muffin 2-Slice Toaster and Egg Poacher and I absolutely LOVE it.
Also, can I get the name brand of the cheese slice for zero carbs? Mine are all 2g carbs.
Thanks.

Congratulations on the loss.

I always make sure I buy the highest fat ground beef, same with my steaks. Fat is very necessary for me.

Thanks, I was actually wondering about that.. I tend to buy lean ground beef or ground steak because that's the way I've always shopped but I wondered if it would be better to buy the fattier meats.

Really? Even on a regular Atkins diet plan, you need to be eating the higher fat meats, if you eat chicken, make sure it is chicken thighs with the skin. When I finish cooking my burgers, the pan is a pool of grease. I ate this way even when I followed Atkins 72.

If you are looking for sliced cheese singles Kraft makes one called SELECT that is less than 1 gram per slice. It is processed but you can definitely taste the difference my whole family prefers this brand.

I only recently returned to the Atkins WOE.. I did it back in 2000 but I've not read the book again so I really had forgotten all that about the fat and I don't think I really understood the importance of "fat" even back then. I've ordered the Atkins 72 book and I've been reading a lot of post on many sites about VLC and ZC plans so I think I understand about the "fats" now. I actually prefer the leg and thigh but I've been eating breast.. it's not wonder that I've been having to work to get in the fat that I need. Thanks so much... I'm in week 2 of doing low carbs so I'm wanting to get all the info.

I buy the highest fat content hamburger I can find. I always did, even when I wasn't low-carbing. Lean ground beef makes terrible, dry hamburger patties or meat loaf!

It doesn't matter if it's processed. We're not picky around here.

Thanks!! I'll look for it. I only have one american place and I can shop & they are very limited and I mean very limited on certain stuff.

wow, my meatloaf is always moist and I buy 93% fat free something like that.

Maybe it's because I add eggs and milk.

It's good and my family eats it up.

Of course if you add egg and milk it will not be as dry. I also used to eat turkey burgers and not think they were dry. But, once you switch to the highest fat ground beef, the lean stuff tastes like crap, lol.
When I visit my dad in NYC I have to buy frozen burgers cause the ground beef they sell is the extra lean stuff and I cannot eat it.

I've always eaten it w/ egg and milk. Never knew anyone to eat it w/o.

Anyway, can't stomach the "fat" stuff it tears up my insides and I'm hurtin' for days! Never going back to greasy, greasy fried foods again. Especially, fast food.

When I make meat loaf for my family I add egg, tomato paste, lots of stuff. But, I am much more strict in my diet and I like my hamburger plain and greasy!

You know... I believe in the "high fat, low carb" WOE... I've researced it and I'm doing it so I know it works.... but still, sometimes, when I read the way everyone eats... I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. I guess it will take some time for my brain to let go of the idea that "fat" is bad.

I told my hubby that when we shop I need to buy the fattier beef and start cooking my chicken with the skin on... he thinks I'm crazy... that's ok though.

It took me a while to fully believe that eating high fat meat was ok. I was really scared. I did it gradually. Now, I would not touch a chicken breast, yuck! But after decades on believing low fat, it is hard to change.
My husband also thinks I am nuts, but for so many, many reasons.

Well, you look AWESOME!! I know your husband can't argue with that so your WOE works for you.. no doubt. I'm not sure if I could ever get to the level you are as for as eating but I am gradually increasing fats.... but still holding on to a couple of eggs a day... other than that, for the past two days, I've ate only beef and bacon and a couple of oz of cheese. I actually ran out of lettuce and cucumbers and live so far from the market that I had no choice but after reading how you and some others eat.. I thought well, maybe it won't hurt to skip the daily salad.

Could you sub Heavy Whipping Cream or Half and Half for the milk?

Today, I went grocery shopping and they only had Kraft regular/low fat singles but I looked at all 12 different kinds we had and found some hot pepper jack cheese slices organic, I think for <1g of slice so that's much better than 2g.

I don't really count carbs, but I don't think I'm eating very many. I have all meat and eggs plus one very small salad (mostly dark green lettuce) a day with dinner. I also eat a small amount of cheddar cheese. Sometimes I have tuna on a slice of tomato broiled, so I guess the small salad and tomato slice would have carbs, but that's all.

That sounds like a small amount of carbs. I may emulate your example.

With just seafood? Shrimp and shellfish has some carbs and fish is pretty low fat. You could try fish fried in coconut oil or butter, maybe...

There is no such thing as zero carb shrimp, lol. But, the carb count is very low, so I would not worry about it.
