72' experts needed!!: perfect first week...put on inches!
hey there!
This is my first run of atkins induction. The only copy I have is my dads old 1972 book, so i have started this one. I am 5 foot 2, 148 pounds I do not want to weigh myself because i know ill get obsessed, so ive been measuring instead. AFTER one week HERES MY MENU (its a very consistant one): Breakfast: 4 boiled eggs w. olive oil Lunch: 2 steaks, HEAPS on butter, w. oregano and 1 runny egg (yum!) w/ lettuce and cucumber Snack: can tuna w. olive oil Dinner: 1/2 charcoal chicken (skin peeled off as seasoning has carbs) w/ lettuce and cucumber I never go above 2 carbs a day-( the organic eggs i get have 0.15 carbs per egg...) NO COFFEE, just decafinated twice a day Ideas would be so much appreciated!!!! Im FREAKING OUT |

I'm doing '72. I just don't lose any more on DANDR (although I used to do pretty well with it, in years past). I think I need an ultra-low carb intake to lose, and I like the ease and simplicity of '72. The fewer options, the fewer opportunities to screw up, right?
![]() I weigh every single day of my life. Every time I stop for a few weeks, I gain 10 pounds. I dare not skip a day. But it's true that weighing can cause distress and frustration, because everybody on earth bounces up and down from day to day. I just don't let it get to me. It sounds to me like your eating plan is right on track. The losses will come.

I think it does get harder, but I'm not sure the reason. Is it that your body is more resistant, or is it that you get more complacent about "carb creep" and are less cautious and let in things that don't belong on induction sooner than you did the first time you did it. After all, the first time you do it, you are consulting with that book every day and really trying to do it exactly by the book. After that, you think you know it all, but you actually forget things.
Also, naturally you are older each time you start it, and there is absolutely NO DOUBT that your metabolism slows each year unless you do something to keep it up. So maybe it's not that the diet--maybe it's other things. At any rate, I hope you will really take advantage of what some people call your "One Golden Chance," your glorious first time, and get all the way to goal and just have to think about maintenance from now on! Just work it--it does work, if you work it! |

What is your goal weight? People who have a LOT of weight to lose will lose much more during induction than people who need to lose less. Also, maybe try tracking your calories for a day or two (it's pretty easy if you use fitday.com) and see if they're maybe really high. Perhaps that could be slowing you down.
Also, some people lose steadily, but most people lose in lurches--no loss for a while, then a sudden "whoosie." Maybe you'll have one of those tomorrow! |
