[COLOR="Purple"]My goal this month's challenge is to drop 10 more pounds - that would take me to 30 pounds down.

If I keep it clean and keep track in fitday I will make goal!

I have lots going on in the next few months and would love to feel better - physically, mentally and emotionally - losing more weight will do that!

My sister's wedding on May 23. Another trip to San Francisco sometime in the next two weeks. My trip to Michigan in June to see my son. My surprise party for my hubby's birthday on June 14. A scuba diving trip over 4th of July. My daughter's wedding in August.

I'm in!

My goals are to
  • stay at '72 week 1 level*
  • start couch to 5k
  • start toning & yoga
*We'll probably be going to New Orleans for Memorial Day weekend, so my eating will likely be more DANDR than '72. Our anniversary is the 29th & I probably won't be l/c for dinner - we always have champagne & dessert.

Not going to make a weight goal because I've learned I can't control the evil scale

Do we report our weight in the AM?

I started this on Feb 15... our anniversary. We went out to dinner that night and had great steaks and salad and veggies. Even though dessert came with it, we didn't have it... and we didn't have our customary celebratory champagne either....we had iced tea. It was REALLY strange.

Now... we were strong that night... but I've had other nights where I've given in. Not sure why it is easier to do it some times but not others???

One of the things I am trying to get out of my brain is the "It's a celebration" or "I deserve it" thoughts. We know this WOE is so much better... I want to get where I say "I deserve to NOT have the champagne and dessert!" because it is good for me to not have it.

Not there yet, but on my way!

I'm in! This is my first week and I plan on staying on induction for awhile. I sure am enjoying being able to eat small amounts and be satisfied. This is really making me think about how sensitive I am to carbs. Anyways, down 6 in 3 days

I know myself & know I will never get there. I can't even fathom it right now but maybe someday. But honestly, I don't think I ever want to get to the point where I'd prefer to not have cake on my birthday kwim? I admire people who can do that, but I just want to get to the point where I don't obsess over it.
It's such a fine line for me. Deprivation can sometimes lead to binging & induldging can sometimes lead to binging. But sometimes not And I'm sometimes able to have a few bites of something 'forbidden', push it away & go on with life. Half the time I don't know what to do.
One of these days I'll figure it out.

Well, altho I'll be pretty much low-carbin' for the rest of my life from now on, I'll "treat" myself on occasion to some things. But for the time being, I want to lose a certain amount of weight first, and eating that Chinese food last night sort of made me mad because it wasn't "time" for that, yet.

I know that sounds kind of crazy, but just how I'm feeling today....

Yay I'm in! I want to lose 10 lbs this month. I lost 7 in april, and I've picked up exercising more so I'm betting all my money I can make it.

It will be a stressful month. I met with our attorney today, no one on the board knows this about me but now you folks will.... I'm finally getting my divorce!!!! Yes, I'm still married, and engaged! I've been separated from him for over 2 years, he's a deadbeat and has not done anything in response to my petition so it has taken forever to get my divorce. BUT May 11th, my attorney is going to try to get a default judgement for me!!!!!! Please don't judge, I rushed into marrying my daughters biological father after I gave birth to her, he conned me into it and ended up being a drug addicted abuser, so I did the best thing I could and I left him. How quickly he showed his true colors, we were only together & married a few months. 8 months later I met my now Fiance, we've been living together for a year now, he's the only man my daughter knows as her dad and he's a WONDERFUL father! Sorry for the rant, but it's been an exciting day, we're so ready to get this done finally! I will be celebrating and letting go of a lot of extra weight, and I don't just mean my fat! Although I suspect that part of the reason I've gotten so heavy is due to stress over this, and I'm finally going to let it go.

I hope this will be a great month for all of us, the weather's getting nice and there's a lot to get out to see & do. I want to make this a summer FULL of fun and memories. Best wishes to everyone in your journey this month!

Good Morning All you Dear Ladies!! I am UP 2 pounds! 195.5. What is going on with my body? I feel like screaming. I have had NO sugar, bread, anything except for the planned cheat 2 days ago with the sweet potato.(to kick start me to loose after a week long stall) My daily menu has been about 3-5 eggs a day,a wedge of lettuce w/blue cheese, meat or chicken, portabella mushrooms,sf jello/ whipped cream,coffeew/heavy cream, 2 sweetnlow,sf syrup on snow cones, This is not all in one day just a sample of what I've been eating throughout the week.Diet tea w/ aspartame, low carb peanut butter w/ whipped cream a couple of times this week.T.O.M makes me crave sweet stuff so I had something sweet everyday.(listed above) Two pounds up in one day though?? Can your thyroid make this happen? I am panicking! What should I do? Egg/meat fast? Go off plan for a week and start again? Please help... I can't believe this. I am going to write down EVERYTHING I put into my mouth starting today and measuring the lettuce(if I eat any) I eat about three times a day with one of the "sweet" choices as a snack. I drink a lot of diet tea and about 1 liter of water a day. I did eat cheese last night...

Jordan That Amazing!! How many carbs are you eating a day? How many times a day? How much water? Details, Details...Please

Peggy: Congrats on your loss!!!

Hey Wifey,

I eat less than 10 carbs a day, mostly protein. I dont eat any cheese, cream or sweeteners. I drink about 80 ozs of water a day. Also I either go to the gym daily, hop on my treadmill or walk for a couple of miles.

I started this on April 13th so 20 lbs in less than three weeks makes me smile. I have never eaten off plan.

Thank You Jordan, I am GOING TO stay under ten today. So far today I've had my coffee w/ heavycream and 2 sweetnlows.I also made an Epsom salt cocktail because my stomach hurts. This will be the last time I have ANY sweeteners! I will walk for an hour on the treadmill today. I hate feeling like this. I've just called the endo.to take the first availble appt. instead of waiting two more weeks, it's got to be my thyroid because this weight gain started as soon as my doc. changed my prescription. Atkins72 has always been the fasted and easiest plan for me to loose on.

Okay,I'm not going to dwell on the gain!!! I'm marching forward!

You go girlfriend, handle it. But you know I'm always here to give you that push.

Btw before I started Atkins I drank coffee 5 times a day, when I started I went cold turkey. Was easier cause I hate sweeteners like Splenda and Stevia, etc only used sugar before.

jordan42- that's awesome! 20 lbs!

benswifey- You're gonna get there! You know you will, it's just all the crap between now and then that can be really annoying Hope you get your medication figured out!

and thanks everybody for the support, was a little scared to share my personal life with people on here, but I like you guys felt good to talk about it!

I think after I go grocery shopping sunday I'm going to kick it into gear with the yummy dinner making. Maybe I'll start a thread for my recipes? That's the easiest thing I can think of. Maybe I'll do it...

Well anyway, Good morning everyone, hope you all have a great day! Still no sunshine here.

I dropped 1.2 pounds from yesterday.
I'm on the meat/egg fast and it's working.
Yesterday I had:
B: 2 eggs mixed in with 6 oz. of ground beef & 1 T of butter (instant meatloaf)
L: 2 scramble eggs & 1 T of butter
D: 9 oz. Pork steak
And lots of water.
I also walked 2.5 miles.
1300 calories
Cheese is allowed on this plan, but it stalls me so I don't eat it.
I was on the DANRD for 6 weeks and only lost 4 pounds. Totally frustrating until I found this site and read threads from all plans. Seems the veggies were stalling me as well.
I stay away from all sugar, flour, starch and veggies.
As soon as I hit my goal, I'll start adding small amounts of carbs in.

Congrats to all the April losers!

Yesterday:
B - 4 slices bacon, coffee
L - 6 wings, sauteed mushrooms
D - chicken cordon bleu, salad

benswifey - Don't panic! Weight fluctuations are normal & sometimes happen for no reason that we can see. One week without losing isn't a stall; more like 4 weeks of losing no pounds or inches. Are you taking your measurements? Are your clothes looser? Do you feel better? The scale is just one measurement of our progress. Let your body settle and adjust to this WOE. And please do not let your mood be determined by the number on the scale - it's a miserable feeling
Having said that, I would def cut out the peanut butter and watch the HWC. I believe 4t/day is allowed on '72.

[COLOR="Purple"]Good morning!! May Day!

Wifey - your thyroid medicine has nothing to do with it, I am sure... if anything, it is helping you because your metabolic rate is higher with the meds. For me eating/drinking that much artificial sweetener would stall me in a beat. I would say go super clean for a week and see what happens.

Pnevers - depending on the veggie they stall hubby and me as well. Except for salad, the only time we have veggies is at a restaurant - in lieu of the potato or pasta that comes with the meal. But I figure, good fresh veggies are the first place things to add once we go up a few carbs!

Jordan - I went cold turkey on coffee about 3 yrs ago. I haven't really missed it. Did you have any withdrawal symptoms?

Peggypie - You can do the 20! I did 17 in one month... had to keep it really clean!

Mamabear - 10 pounds - no ifs, ands or buts about it - we are going to do it!

I had a great time last night! The Wine & Cheese thing was easy to do because it was all cheeses, salamis, etc. And the only white wine they had was Chardonnay and I HATE that... I'm a Sauvignon Blanc & Pinot Grigio girl So I had diet coke.

The Italian restaurant was wonderful -- I had a delicious cheese and meat plate --- 4 different cheeses, prosciutto, soppresatta, kalamata olives and a few roasted walnuts.

I was designated driver so was good at the bar at the harbor. The hardest part of the night was that I didn't get home until 2am... ughhhh... and up at 6... (it's gonna be a l-o-n-g day) The best part, even with the salt from all the cheese, the scale didn't go up

Have a great day!!

[COLOR="Purple"]Oh ....... the REALLY good part??????????

I see a lot of the people at the business event only once a month..... I had several people come up to me and say "Hey! Where did you disappear to? You're shrinking!" and "Wow, mama, you are HOT!" and "Girlfriend, you have lost soooo much weight!" etc..... and when we were walking around Little Italy it was fun to see the guys looking again! (It's been awhile )

All that goes a long way in keeping me motivated!!

Hi all. I lurked in April but now I'm posting to be accoutable. I lost 10 in the first two weeks of April and I am up 5 b/c I haven't been 72-ing everyday. Super mad at myself. I lost 25 in the fall by keeping it at 20 carbs a day, took Jan-Feb off, kept it under 40 in March and found 72 in April. l've been stress eating and social eating. Looking forward to a clean May.

Those extra 3 Chinese food lbs are pretty much gone. Just hoping for a good whoosh to make up for this "drought" I've been on for the last two weeks.

B: 2 HB eggs and 3 strips of bacon

S: Pork chicarrones

L: 3 skinny pork chops w/mayo, and a big Romaine salad

D: Not sure yet - I haven't been eating dinner much lately. I mowed the lawn last night instead!

hello all...here is to a shrinking may!

b: the other half of the cytosport protein drink in tangerine
l: some iceberg lettuce, some grilled chicken cubes, about five cucumber slices, tablespoon of shredded cheese, tablespoon of ceasar dressing
s: some green olives in oil
d: going to a co-worker's for dinner...this is going to be BAD...i told them i was on a diet so don't worry about a big dessert (she is an very excellent chef)
it is going to be off plan...it just will be
i am mad at myself because if i hadn't let myself get fat in the first place i would not be having to do this all over again and i could relax and enjoy myself
i didn't weigh myself this morning, or yesterday morning because i have been bummed about the slow (no) loss
only interesting thing, i seem to be able to wear my jeans tonight instead of stretch pants! if only for a night, and they fit and are not cutting off the feeling in my feet

congrats mamabear, on getting rid of the "dead"weight!!
