Morning Gals! Off to spend the afternoon with my grandson
today but wanted to pop in and say hello.Great numbers there this morning WenB! Kim, protein shakes are part of our fill-in snack meals on CTWLC well if we want them. Otherwise we can substitute some other protein instead. Anyway, I've been doing a shake at night just about every night. I'm using the Designer Whey - which is slightly higher in sugars than Wendy Chant recommends - but I already had it and it is expensive so I'm using it even though it doesn't quite meet her requirements!! What kind are you using? Anyhoo... I'm still in the Carb Deplete week till Monday morning - and down 6 pounds for the week so far (8 since the weekend) but once I get out of this carb counting week I should be able to add a bit of milk. With water the powders make for a shake that's a little bit watery for me, but I've been pumping up the flavor with some SF Da Vinci's and that seems to help for now. The shakes really seem to satisfy that after dinner sweet tooth for me.I think my turtle has vacated the yard. I didn't see her yesterday and found a turtle sized hole dug up under the privacy fence. I haven't peeked over the fence to see if she's in between - could be I suppose, since my neighbors to that side have chain link behind my privacy fence. Heck she had it made here - don't know why she'd want to leave!!! Oh well.... if she has left I hope she makes it safe wherever she is headed and that she doesn't get run over. That would break my heart. ![]() Hi Brandi! I hope that you don't have to return the puppy. I used the crate training successfully for every inside dog I ever owned. Even one dog that I rescued who was being brought to the shelter because the owner said they could not housebreak her. The crate worked and she lived with me for more than 20 years until she died of old age!! I loved her so much and she was such a joy - she took her last breath in my arms - gosh my eyes are watering again just typing that!!! It's been a long time but from what I remember there was a very specific schedule I followed. I got the info from a book and there were a couple of different ways to do it, depending on whether you are home all day, part of the day or gone to work all day. Everybody participating has to follow it though - can't have one person doing something different. From what I recall, at least in the beginning, you have to keep the puppy in the crate even when you are home sometimes. Like I said it's a specific schedule. Anyway, if I can figure out where that book is (I think I still have it) I'll check that for you later this evening if you want. Just let me know.Well, hello to everybody else! Next week I begin to slowly add in some very limited starches. I'm gonna try not to weigh for the entire week cuz I know there will be some temporary water weight at first. Wish me luck. ![]() See ya'll later! Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!! |

Mary- sorry to hear about the turtle!! She did have it made w/your food and love. It also sounds like your having a great week on your diet- proud of ya
I checked over on that wendy chant board, man there's a lot of people!! I would love to know the name of the book. I really don't want to take her back, I just feel bad not being there all day to train her, and then I start thinking is this fair to her, if another loving family could be better? I've never trained a dog, so I get frustrated very easily, I've actually been reading up on the internet today about house training. I don't know if I want to use the puppy pads b/c I'm afraid that will confuse her, what do you think? Shes about 18 wks old. My mom said she could let her out during the day, but she doesn't think she could everyday. She did pee in her crate last night too! The smell of the poop, Oh my gosh I'm depressed about it, sorry I keep babbling!!!

Sorry I missed you gals... just back home.
Kim, I haven't heard of that brand, but then there as so many. All I ever hear about on here are Jay Robb's, but his are very expensive compared to Designer Whey and I think that D.W. tastes just fine - only I want it in some milk, and maybe a bit of banana too! ![]() Brandi, I found that book! Thanks for sending me to look for it cuz I found the field guide bird book I'd been looking for! I have so many books it's ridiculous. I say no to the pads - just go with the crate, but ya gotta get over the guilt! I know.... This one is called "How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days" by Shirlee Kalstone. Course the publication date was 1985 lol.... Like I said it has schedules depending on the age of the dog and the owner's being at work or home. Well, there's more to it than that lol... but not much really! I looked at Amazon and they have this one and there are quite a few others but you can probably find some schedules and most of the info online easy. You DO have to do a schedule and you have to be absolutely consistent every day. 3 to 6 month old puppies, three meals a day, with the owner at work all day is (you would adjust the times to your own schedule of course) 7:00 a.m. - Wake up. Go out. 7:10 to 7:30 a.m. - Free time in the kitchen 7:30 a.m. - Food and water 8:00 a.m. - Go out. Confine to crate when owner leaves for day. Leave safe toys and chewies in the crate to keep the dog enertained. 6:00 p.m. - Go out. 6:15 - 6:30 - Free period in kitchen 6:30 p.m. - Food and water. 7:00 p.m. - Go out. 7:15 p.m. - Confine. 9:00 p.m. - Food and water. 9:30 p.m. - Go out 9:40 p.m. - Free period in kitchen. 10:10 p.m. - Confine. 11:00 p.m. - Go out. Confine overnight. Continue this on the weekends too, even tho you are home!! That's just one schedule example - there are several. Last edited by marymc : 07-25-2008 at 05:29 PM. |

Kristina, the turtle was one of those large box turtles that just showed up in my yard one day, so I was giving her places to bathe, and water pools made out of pie pans, and feeding her meat, fruit and veggies, but I guess she missed the "wild" more than she wanted to stay here. I like to think that God sent her here to help me with my slug problem!

![]() Well...I did good this weekend even though we were gone. I made up tuna and chicken salad, so I had something to eat, and then I would just make sandwiches for my husband out of it. I tried about 3 stores to find pork rinds, but they were all out. Must be lots of people on Atkins right now Down another pound ![]() |
