Team '72 week of 7/7

Hey Gals... I hope I did the thread right.. I was waiting on someone to start so I wouldn't have to hee,hee Everyone must have had a great 4th!!!

Well I'm still hovering aroun 145ish!! Kim- If you try WW please make sure not to overdue it on the processed junk! I did and all I crave is the carbs!! But when I switched that one week I did the ww points faithfuly for 1 week and lost 4 pounds. I am trying to do it faithfuly this week. Right now all I'm thinking about is food It is nice to have what you want in moderation. I've been drinking unsweetend Icetea.. for some reason diet pop makes me stall and I feel bloated from it. I don't attend the meetings but they do help for support. I think they have a WW message board on here too. I try and make sure I stalk up on the raw vegies for snacks. Fruit never satifies me. I love eating celery. Hope you do good w/it. The only thing I miss is eating all the steak I want.. but I usually eat half and save the rest for the next day. I've been hooked on eating baby spinach salads w/steak and adding carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese and toasted sesame seed dressing!! Okay enough of me.

Landen's B-day was great, it was nice and sunny. I was a little disappointed in the grinch cake. He was all green, I was hoping she would of put a red santa coat on him. She said she had a hard time w/the grinch. I should of done nemo! O-well. I'll post a pic when I get it up loaded.

I hope you all are recovering from the food you ate this weekend

Hey Kim- forgot to mention here is link Weight Watchers Points Calculator you type in the calories -fat-fiber and it will give you the points.

Okay where is everyone at today? Have you all left me? We did get to watch a few good movies this weekend. the Jumper, vantage point, and the eye.
the eye was really good.

Shala- are you all moved in?

Hey Brandi - thanks for all the info. I'm having a hard time with it, because of my LC thinking....LOL. Every time I eat a fruit or something, I think "I can't eat this". I even went and bought some WW bread and tortillas but havn't eaten them yet. I'm not looking forward to eating bread at all. I did like some 100 calories ice cream bars that i tried - 2 points.

What kind of diet is it exactly, low cal-low fat? I wonder if it would work as WW+LC?

Kim- I don't know if you stores carry this bread, but it 100% whole grain it by Aunt Millie's it is so good, it's a point per slice, or it may be a point for 2 and it's only 9 carbs per slice.. I know I think about lc constantly when I'm doing points. and truthfuly sometimes I get so frustrated counting points b/c all we have to watch is carbs when we are low carbing it
Anyways our walmart carries awesome low carb tortillia wraps and I'll have to double check - I think it only came out to 1 point b/c of the low calories and high fiber. I'll take another look. The chocolate chip ww cookies are good too and all their icecream!! I like having popcorn as a snack, kettle corn is my favorite, it's only 3 points for the whole bag, or if you do a light butter popcorn.

Sorry to the rest of girls, we're talking ww

But like I said, if you can try and stick to the whole foods - you should be good w/the cravings.

Hi Ladies!
I have been trying to catch up on things around the house and hoping to stay off of the internet this week a bit less than I have been. I have been letting so many things at home slide and gotta get away from spending so much time at LCF!!!! It IS a bit addictive isn't it?

Thought I would stop for a minute and pop in and see what everybody was up to and say hello but it looks like things have been mighty quiet this Monday so far. I guess so many people have wandered off into other plans that there aren't many left doing '72 right now! I think that Ing and Kathy are but not sure who else, but I do know that I'm not one of them. I'm back to doing my balanced plate, for the most part.

So Meeha just wanted to say oh, and CONGRATS on that 10 pounds!!!! WOW!! but just to be fair you may want to check out this '72 challenge thread By the Book - Atkins 72 Style - July 2008 just so that you have some diet specific '72 support. We have so many who are close or who have met their goals, or are switching over to other plans, that our old '72 Team thread is kinda fading away! Not to run you off or anything, but I know you'll find some good support over at that challenge thread for sure.

Well, got to get back to work. Hope everybody has a great week (no matter what plan you're doing)!

Hi niciK!! Welcome back! I'm not doing '72 anymore - every once in awhile I do a lower carb day - probably more along the lines of DANDR though really - but I pop in still to chat with my buddies! Who appear to be MIA today so far LOL... (well, except for Brandi and Kim!) anyway, be sure to check out that challenge thread I posted just above your post, because all those folks are specifically following the '72 plan. It just recently started up I think because they wanted some "true" '72 support and I'm not sure who is left here doing '72 so the thread has been fading away lately. Nice to see you and best of luck. We've all been there on the weight loss roller coaster that's for sure, but we all just pick ourselves back up, brush ourselves off and start again. You can do it!

Hello, I'm here and still trying to stick to 72. Fell off the wagon a tiny bit over the weekend but still eating LC, just not as clean as I would have liked. I splurged on peanuts and tequila rose the other night, it was GOOD, but not 100% on plan. That's ok, I'm not beating myself up, it could have been worse, I was surrounded by chips, dips, cookies and desserts. I'm at the 14 day point and have lost 5 lbs. I think my thyroid/meds are not right, but that's another story.

Hope you ladies are doing well and I'll pop over to the other thread as well.

Nice to see ya back Nic! As you can see, we're still here.

Kelly - congrats on the 5 lbs!

Mary - Yes this site is very addictive. I've been trying to spend more time off it myself. Especially weekends since the weather is so nice.

good morning ladies. Well I was down a pound this morning. Kim did you do ww yesterday?

DH is now looking at doing contracting jobs overseas Thought it was a great idea at first, b/c of the money. We could have our house paid off in a couple of yrs, but then I was researching and found the death rate and kidnapping rates.. don't want him to do it now. Then he talked about doing work in alaska on a pipeline, said I wouldn't move there b/c its dark 6 mths out of the yr, I think? He said he would go and send the money home.
Hate trying to look for jobs. there really isn't much here in Ohio as far as jobs. I really don't want to move either. I have a good job and I would have to start all over. Okay - I'll stop the pity party

I miss all you girls.... I hope that you don't all go away. I'll check back later

Good morning!!

Brandi - I did do WW yesterday but my cravings are out of control now. All I want to do is eat junk. I look forward to the treats and I can't stop at one. I can't wrap my mind around the concept of it either. And I think I gained weight again but I'm scared to go near the scale. My body does not like me right now.

So I'm back to 72 induction today - AGAIN!

Nic - I had a bad month of June. I stayed on plan (most of the time) and gained weight. As you can see I'm starting over doing induction to kill the cravings.

I'm still here...

Morning,Brandi...way to go on the losses!Sounds like WW is working for you (ya know, it worked really well for my Sis. She's maintained her 75 lb. loss for more than a year now. Still counts her "points" but she's at the point that she pretty much has everything she eats & drinks memorized, so doesn't have to look everything up. She plans out most meals/most days to help herself stay on track...and the occasional way-off day is easily corrected by back to strict point counting.)

Wow, I can see why you'd be scared of the thought of DH working overseas (especially in the Mideast "oil" countries) ...I know a lot of people do, and the money is fabulous, but you are correct about the violence. There's a really good reason they pay so well. It'd be hard to have him working in Alaska, but that'd probably be a lot safer.

Hey, Kim...sorry WW didn't work for you. It's such a bummer to try & try and then gain weight. Been there, done that more than once!

You have hypothyroidism, right? Me too, and I gained 20 lbs. on WW last year. With no cheats, and staying strictly on points...not guessing! Weighing, measuring & tracking my points every day. I was even tracking my actual calories...eating between 1200-1400 per day. Should have been losing a minimum of 2.5 lbs. a week. Instead, I gained steadily. That was one of the things that clued us there was probably a thyroid issue! But even after getting on thyroid meds, and having tests showing things were correct, I still gained on low cal. So I think it's just a metabolism thing when you have thyroid problems, you'll have weight loss problems too. Not fair

Cathy - I know all about the problems with hypothyroidism. It's a neverending battle for me. I know I'll lose slower than most, but I hate gaining. I'm the same as you with WW. I tracked the points religiously and even was under points a couple days. Not sure on the calorie count though. For sure low cal does not work for me either. I'd be happy with 2 lbs a week, as long as it's moving down. I just get so discouraged.

I hear ya, Kim...it's really discouraging to "follow the rules" and then have terrible results. I get so tired of hearing the holier-than-thou preachers on some other threads claiming "if you did it by the book, it would work." I'm one of the most compulsive-rule-followers you'd ever meet...when I "do it by the book", I do it exactly by the book. And I find that many diet plans that work for others do not produce good results for me.

That's one thing I really like on this '72 thread...everyone has much more realistic attitudes, and the knowledge that one-size-never-fits-all. The unconditional support from the gals on this thread is worth a million $, at least

Cathy you always give great advice and support That's great about your sis maintaining her weight and keeping it off! I do like having food I want in moderation.. but I still miss doing LC b/c I can eat all the meat I want! I just get bored. It's that bad inner thoughts that come in your head saying do ww or do lc o-well. I do have to confess, I'm constantly hungry doing ww. I know I'm supposed to eat more fruits and vegies. How long have you done LC?

Hey Shala- I'd help if I could girl.. Hey maybe I could have my hubby look in OK for jobs

Hey mama Mary - You need to come to your computer and say hi

Kim- sorry to hear that ww didn't work out, but at least your jumping back on LC wagon.. you wont have all those cravings.. I wish I didn't either, wish I could just stay on one plan so you gals wouldn't have to put up w/me yo, yoing

Tommie girl - hope your doing okay!!
Alison- are you hiding on us to?

Hey Ing wherever you are

Hey, Brandi, I've basically been doing LC/Atkins since the end of December 2007. Been mostly doing Stillman's with an occasional "Atkins Cheat" day since February (cuz I lost a bunch in first couple of weeks Atkins, then totally stalled out. I blame hypothyroidism for that, cuz I've very successfully done Atkins twice before...once in the late 1970's...probably before you were born! And then again in the late 90's...lost over a 100 then & kept it off for several years...until I ran into some very stressful life happenings, and I quit smoking, hit menopause & developed the thyroid problems. Gained with each thing...so when I started in December, I was heavier than ever. Atkinds worked like a charm before...but not this time.
