Hello All.

Dh left yesterday headed to kansas with the Jeep and Boat. I guess he got just into kansas and stopped at a truck stop and was told the rains and storms were really bad so he got a room and has 5 hours left till he gets to Riley. He said the temp. change was amazing. He had to put the top on the jeep!! Guess he got a CHILL!!! ![]() He'll get a plane back by the 3rd of June and we will drive the other cars to visit relatives and then be there by 1 July. Maybe he will find us a place to live before he returns here!!! ![]() Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and remember our HEROS!! Rose ![]()

Good Morning ... Good Morning ... Good Morning!!! Am I the only one out to play this early??
Well, guess I'll have a chat with meself then!![]() All of the Memorial Day celebrations are early in the morning today and DH is sleeping in so we won't be catching any of the live ones, probably just the one on television. Had a great day yesterday tho. Had ribs on Saturday, so we grilled burgers in the afternoon Sunday and ribeyes in the evening - ate my burgers bunless to save my carbs for Mojito Pie!! It is made using both rum and mint extract, and I swear I woke up with a hangover from that pie! It was pretty good, but by the time I dug into it, I had that same problem Tommie mentioned ... it had not quite set up enuf. I don't know the secret but I'm thinking that I probably overbeat the filling. Got the recipe off of the Pillsbury site, but lowered the carbs a bit. Due to the extracts being loaded with alcohol and being uncooked, DH can't have any of it (oh darn ), so guess I have to slice it up and do the freezer thing. Well, what I don't eat today LOL.Diana, sounds like ya'll had a blast! Wish I coulda seen ya'll on the webcam - bet that was cool. Ohhhh... I bet those cinnamon rolls were marvelous!!!! Can you make me a pan??? I haven't ever made any of those - it seems to be a lot of work, so it intimidates me! I usually make mine out of a can LOL.... I have two hibiscus plants outside but I think one of them is the type that would do better in a pot inside, or at least carried in for a freeze. It died completely down to the ground last freeze, and I thought I had lost it, but I kept pouring Miracle Gro on the stub and lo and behold leaves are finally starting to come up!! It had grown bigger than me last year! The other hibiscus just sheds it's leaves each winter but comes back every year on the old wood - kinda like a hydrangea. I always thought all hibiscus plants were the same but guess not! Oh and thank you for the compliments on my grandson and my flowers. You're so sweet. Didn't get to see little bit over the weekend cuz DS was busy with his own company from out of town all weekend. Old high school friend. I am enjoying the gardening, but I know when I get back to work, it'll all go the wayside. Working full time, who has the time for all that!Kathy, how'd your baby back ribs turn out? Oh and on the lens... I bought the USM lens with image stabilization. You can buy the one without IS for much cheaper - like $200 - but unless you're gonna set up on a tripod, the zoom lens is kinda heavy and camera shake is a problem without the IS. I also suggest that you invest in a cheap UV filter and/or a hood to protect your lens. The hoods are outrageous but the filters are cheap. As far as your energy level... well, you're going through a lot of emotional stress right now, so I'm sure that's why you're dragging a bit. Glad DH is going with you today. Hope they send her to a rehab facility - that is what they are for! Yesterday was sooooo hot ya'll ... ugh. (I warned you the heat complaints were coming ) Seriously hot. Already. Sooooo I ran to WalMart to buy another fan to put on the back patio for the girls (the canine girls), finally found one of those mister systems (they are in hardware, not garden) and installed it around my patio on the gazebo. BTW, if you buy one of those mister systems, you only have to turn the hose on ever so slightly, not full blast. Ask me how I know this. Anyhoo... hoping that it will help to keep the girls cool because today again we will be in the high 80s again, but factoring in the heat index with SOUTHERN HUMIDITY and that temp is really more like oh, 97!!!! Ugh.Ya'll woulda laughed at me last night. We had some thunderstorms move in north of me. We didn't get anything but it did cool things down significantly. So I got to fooling around tying up tomato plants, watering hanging plants, laying out some straw in my garden - at 11:00 p.m.!! What the heck else are flood lights for, right? ![]() ETA: Hey Rose!! I almost missed your post! Sounds like the move is on. Are you getting excited??

Momma Mary I have all kinds of emotions going on here.
The older I get the harder the move and we have only been in El Paso for 9 months. I have enjoyed it. My DD is staying and going to UTEP. That's scary~she turned 18 and thinks shes an adult. I wonder ![]() But hey pull up those boot straps and march on live is what you make it and I hope to make the best of Kansas. ![]() I really am looking forward to a yard and a small garden as well!! ![]() Just hate the idea of all that "weather"..... It's going to be strange after not being around thunder and tornado's for 4 years!! Use to the rain and snow but not the noise and bone chilling cold!! Shala glad to hear about the move. I think you'll enjoy being close to the school and all. Good luck with the "actual" move. Tommie I know you are having a blast and resting!! Priness DI how goes it? Everyone else HELLO!!! ![]() Have a super MONDAY!! Rose ![]() Last edited by onefitgal : 05-26-2008 at 07:38 AM. |

Oh Rose... wow that was a short tour only 9 months.
Barely time to even meet anybody I bet. And I didn't think about that Kansas weather! Well, truth is no matter where you live, there is some weather event to deal with. I don't know if you saw before where I asked you... was your dad ever stationed here at Biloxi?Well, more flowers LOL... Last night when it looked like we were going to have some thunderstorms I went out and clipped some gardenias to bring in cuz the rain just destroys them. They are so fragrant, that it's the first thing you can smell when you walk in the house! ![]() |

Good afternoon everyone!Doctor did not go well on Friday. My BP was way up - first was 159/101 then 5 minutes later 145/101. She put me back on meds again. She will not send me for more blood work until we get the BP under control. That could be why I haven't been feeling so hot. I dropped of the prescription Friday and called today for the price and it's $275 for the pills. I don't know how I'll even be able to pay for them. I will probably have to use a credit card, but I really try to stay away from them. It'll probably be tomorrow before I pick them up, I'll have to discuss finances again with DH. And this is just the BP pills, I haven't taken in the prescription for my thyroid pills yet. I'll need them in about 2 weeks, and that one'll be about $75. I hate drugs!Mary - love the new pic of your grandson. He's adorable. Rose - congrats on the 133! Shala - I'm glad you decided to move closer to the school. That's quite the drive you have there now. Are the kids excited about it?? Anyways - I took today off to get some stuff done around the house but I haven't done anything yet. I think I may go to the gym for a while to de-stress. Have a great day ladies.

OMGosh Kim... sorry you're so down. I hate to hear the BP is up like that! Do they know why? I can't believe the cost of that medication!! Good grief, no way could I afford that. I thought meds in Canada were supposed to be pretty inexpensive, well compared to here anyway - if that's true how much could that possibly cost here in the States! YIKES! I take it that you don't have health care insurance then? Lord don't tell me you do and that's the portion that you have to pay! Double YIKERS!! Well, you ought to be feeling like a million bucks after a month on those suckers, eh? Geez... so sorry. Hope the gym workout helps. Is this something that you can get under control with diet/exercise and in other ways??? Sure hope so.Quote:

I'm Back! I didn't make it to the gym, but I did go bike riding for an hour.
You would not believe what happened while I was riding...someone in a car threw their drink at me! Can you believe that? I was stunned. I wish I would have got the plate number - I would have them charged with assault. How ignorant! Rant over... Mary - I could bring the pressure down with diet and exercise, and it was down last time I was there. SHe gave me **** for not coming in sooner when I started feeling bad, and told me that if I don't take the meds I would likely die. How about that for a shocker. I told her that she was the one that took me off them in the first place, then she said I should have been coming in every month. I wish she had told me that back then...so needless to say, I have to exercise minimum 1/2 hr a day and start taking these darn pills again. Blahhh! I have to research some more about blood pressure because I really didn't understand the WHY of it. Especially WHY I would likely die. Anyways, catch you all later. I may just get some work done yet...LOL |

Oh Kim.... I can't believe somebody did that!
Well, yes I can. I constantly find beer cans and beer bottles in my yard and trust me, when I'm out there, I keep my eyes open when people drive by in case I need to duck! Stupid teens around here. Too bad you didn't get their plate number, bet if they had to pay for their stupid prank they'd never do that again. How can somebody find that funny ... what a jerk!!Yeah I'm like you ... I'd have to look into it after she said that!! Well, you better take care of yourself okay? Don't make me come up there!!!! Quote:

Rose, Biloxi is my hometown, so I grew up with a lot of military friends. Yeah, well, it had changed a lot since '99, but it's changed a whole lot in the other direction thanks to Hurricane Katrina in '05.
It's coming back, but the process is very slow.Love the new picture too! Ya'll make a very lovely couple! |

good morning ladies!!!
First off just want to tell Kathy I am soooooo jealous, you have a labradoodle, I want one sooo bad, but my DH said he aint paying money for a dog! The labradoodle are expensive around here. No, seriously, I am happy you got one, sooo cute!! Okay ladies- I tried all weekend to log on the message boards from my computer and everytime it would lock up are deny me access!!! I was about ready to throw my computer out the window! It has something to do w/our firewall. But I was so upset cause I couldn't talk to ya gals. Mama Mary- Loved all your pics you post, my favorite is your cute little grandson, how adorable! Tommie I'm glad you got some cars sold! Shala- How awesome about your house and your parents, Mary is right, God sees to it!! Kim- Sorry about your blood pressure, I hope you can get it under control, you don't need to be having a stroke on us girl ![]() Well as far as my weekend, I had so much fun w/the kids! Sunday we spent the whole day outside and had a cookout w/my family at my house. Yesterday Hillary my little girl was in the memorial day parade w/her grandpa. He is the commander for the american legion, so he was proud to have her in it. As far as my diet, please don't be mad at me, but I'm taking a brake from the LC, my mind was so stressful on trying to stay w/in my carb range! I was tired of worrying about am I down a pound or am I up 3. But since I gained the 3 pounds from last week I have been at that same weight, and you know what I am actually happy b/c I'm not stressing! What I'm gonna do is try and stick w/in my point range from WW. It's kinda nice eating the little portions of what I want again. So I hope I don't let anyone down!! I'd still like to post w/ya gals, I know I'll probably end back up on the LC again, It's just stressing me out trying to get to 130-135 before vacation. As long as I can maintain and lose slowly, I happy w/that! Okay enough of me!! Tell me about your all's day yesterday

Morning Everybody!
Well, it's a new week and just about a new month - my goal is to get myself back organized THIS week and back into a pattern of planning, balanced eating, and recording by the 1st of June. My goal is directed toward the 4th of July holiday since we're having a family outing and I want to drop at least 10 pounds by then. Not that 10 pounds makes all that much difference on my body... but that's my goal. Forgot to weigh this morning (deliberate? haha... probably, just didn't think about it really) but I think I'll hold off on the scale anyway until June 1st and make it an official weigh-in starting point for the new month. I may aim to lower my carbs a bit too. I am also setting an exercise goal to walk whether it hampers the scale or not! My lower back has been troubling me (all this lifting lately) and I know that walking seems to help with that.Kim, I would check on that generic version and even that WalMart program like Kathy mentioned - not sure if Canada has that or not. Something else that I thought about too is to check with the manufacturer to see if you can get some help that way. At least here in the States, most of them have assistance programs for those who cannot afford their prescription drugs. I found a list that NY put together, and just emailed it to you - toward the bottom of it are some possible resources that might help. 873 - wow. That's the number of tornados so far this year, couple hundred more than the "average." So says ABC news anyway. It has really been bad this year and my prayers are for everyone who has lost a home or God forbid, a loved one, to these storms. Kathy - I hate that when a post goes poof!! Oh well...~On Ribs - tell me how you did your's, ribs are something that I can't seem to conquer. ~On Mom - I am thrilled to hear that she got to go home!!!! Sounds like things improved and that's wonderful. ~Yeaaaaa... on the veggie garden!!! Boo on the weather! What the heck??? A frost advisory??? Where the heck is that coming from? ~Love the puppy too! He looks precious - I've never actually seen a Labradoodle, but assume they are fairly large dogs? I want a little lap dog for inside, but with 2 cats and 2 dogs and the potential for evacuating for hurricanes, I haven't dared to. ~On the Harley.... well.... all's I can say is I AM JEALOUS!!!! ![]() Me, I'm working on plant upkeep this week. I sprayed the yard, plants and veggies in the back yesterday for bugs and after last week's trim on the tomatoes yet again, I also did another treament of Jerry Baker's blight buster on my tomatoes. Will also spray the backyard with JB's fertilizer today. The big project is on roses today. Besides the attack on my tomatoes, all that drenching rain we've gotten the last couple of months mixed with unusually cooler temperatures (only a fond memory now LOL) have really hampered my rose production. They look pitiful. Yesterday I applied some more Jerry Baker fungal spray on them and today I'm trimming and cutting them back in hopes of reviving them. I also made a concoction of banana peels blended with water in my food processor and poured that mixture on them. I've never done that before but read about burying banana peels in the roots and thought, why not just chop 'em up! We'll see if it helps. Shala, hope you're enjoying your summer! And that you are using some sun protection. ![]() Tommie, sell LOTS of cars!! ![]() Diana, have you hit onderland yet? I know that you're close. Me, I keep going in the wrong direction LOL.... Brandi, I've never done WW but I know lot's of folks have success with it and I hear you on stressing about your diet. That is the worse. I used to be totally paranoid about accidentally tasting something carby when I'd be cooking for DH and then I thought, this is crazy! So now I fear no food! I know what to keep under control and I know how to reign it back in. Anyhoo.... you BETTER keep popping in and checking in with us though you hear??!!! This thread is more about helping each other than any one WOE really.. no matter what version of diet you're doing. I haven't been doing '72 for a long time, but I still come by and even have the kahunas to start the threads! I'm thinking we should change the thread name to something else really anyway! ![]() Okay.. this post is getting too long and nobody reads them when they get this long! So... hi to Rose, hmschool, Ing, Jen, Terie, Rena and anyone else I may have missed ... let's dump some pounds in June!!! WHATEVER way we do it! Last edited by marymc : 05-27-2008 at 06:16 AM. Ya think? Well how's everybody else feel about moving out of the '72 thread and into a whole new thread? I know we're all really doing a variety of carb reduced diets, but I don't want to leave '72 without taking everybody else with us too!!! Soooooo what do ya'll think???
