Best I can tell this one is a yellow crowned night heron. Beautiful!

I seem to have quite a few couples hanging around here lately actually because I keep seeing male and females of quite a few varieties hanging around. I also have a house finch nested in one of my hanging plants right by the front door!! I can't wait till her eggs hatch! The male comes bringing her food and sings and sings till she comes out or he meets her at the front of the nest. Why don't our men do this????? Oh.. and to add to my frog and lizard collection, I now have a turtle wandering around in my backyard. Least I think he is still hanging around! I just love nature!!
How cool...We get them on their migration down to you...it was a couple weeks ago...they all land in the corn field behind our house!

Jen you look just like a girl here in Oklahoma that Tommie and i have been friends with for years!! I swear ya'll could pass for twins!!!

I guess my husband may take me out for Mothers Day. I decided not to go to my moms. My dads birthday is the 14th so we always celebrate it with Mothers Day. We for two years in a row i get up spend all morning cooking while my two younger sisters are fed breakfast in bed. Well in my opinion if my husband can't help me out the rest of the year i don't expect him to wait on me one day. Anyway my youngest sister just shows up to eat and leaves before we clean up. My DH said i wasn't gonna go over and wait on all of them that day. Plus i live like two blocks from my parents. If i don't go over or call i neve hear from them. They don't even call and check about my kids.
So i'll just keep to myself. I probably need to let it go but basically they are the only grandparents my kids have. My MIL is still alive but she is just crazy! Sorry for the B**ching. Just need to get that off my chest.

I hope everyone has a great Mother's Day!!!

Have fun Shala!!!
Terie...All *****ing welcome...I sure do my share... I get to spend all day tomorrow cooking and cleaning for "MY" Mother's Day...

My turtle has been circling the perimeter of the yard looking for an escape under the privacy fence. I hope he sticks around personally! I really don't want him to get into my neighbor's yard cuz their dogs will play catch with him!

My other neighbor just brought me another wheelbarrow load of cannas so gotta get them in the ground tomorrow or Sunday I suppose. I've been putting them around the perimeter of my yard. Guess I'll be weeding out too in a year or two!!

I never did figure out what I'm gonna do for dinner tonight. I have some frozen dinners that I use sometimes so can feed DH that with a salad and he's good to go, but even so, don't know what I will eat! Starting to get hungry too!!

Oh Tommie... well my DIL has my ex's wife - I think she looks at her like she's the real grandmother. DIL and her mom aren't too close at all. She is much closer to her grandmother - on her mother's side. For some reason my DIL thinks my son and I weren't close!!! That's cuz by the time she came around my son was at that pushing away stage. She'll see once her own son grows up and then maybe she will understand. Always say what goes around comes around. But, I don't know how I got pushed to the wayside in all this but I did - I'm like an afterthought. Truthfully, I think I'm just a bother to my DIL.
Mary...I'm sure you are NOT a bother! And yes, you're right...she will find out once Brian grows up.

My mom was a life saver when my kids were young...I had 4 in 3 years! Yeah! She would come and spend a few days at a time and organize their toy box while they napped...

I usually only made 6 at a time so I went through them in about 2 days and rarely refrigerated them. Once you do they do get spongy. I really think that adding the protein powder helped with keeping them from getting that mushy texture too.
I stored them in a ziplock with the zipper open and still bleck! I am so bummed I had such high hopes for them,,,,,,

She told my mom once that she had her kids raised...they were on their own and she wasn't baby sitting!! And she doesn't!!! Mom told her that she didn't like going a week without seeing her babies!!! STRANGE!! My MIL doesn't keep my kids either...doesn't pay them a lick of attention. She will occasionally ask the girls to go to church functions with her, but NEVER the boys. They stress her out!! She has kept them TWICE in the last year and I had to ask her both times!! Once was last year on my Birthday and we went out to eat and was gone a total of 1 hour!!! And the other was our Anniversary last year!! And again we were gone maybe 2 hours!!! My mom is the only grandma my kids have!!! Ty got an award at school and I asked her if she wanted to show her Grammy and she said "Why...she doesn't care anyway!" That hurt my feelings sooo bad!! I felt sorry for her! I mean Grandparents are suppose to swoop in and save the day~!! Sorry...I'm on my soap box again!!
My MIL is awesome with my kids they spend every friday or saturday night over night with her!!!!! Thank god.......now as MIL.........another story! No seriously, I have had my ups and downs with her, but the pros far exceed the cons.

You have to love moms!! My mom comes out from NewYork and spends every summer watching my kids so I do not have tp pay childcare. When they were small she lived out here and took care of them all the time. I cannot remember a time when my mom hasn't been there.......oh I am going to cry....I love her so much!

Hey ladies,

Time to go night. Whoo-hoo, exciting Friday evening

Jen, I too think oopsies suck when they are left over. Sorry I didn't think to warn you about that (or explain why I crammed down so many yesterday, the day I made em!).People make them for the whole week and that just doesn't make any sense to me. I have tried the storage method recommended and I wound up with a soggy, sticky, spongy mass. Yuck yuck yuck. Now if they hang out more than one day, they just stay out on the rack...If they get crisper it doesn't hurt my feelings....

You guys sound so sweet talking about all of your MD plans. What a big deal in the big families you guys have! And you still have grandmas, too! And it just occurred to me that you guys all seem to have twins!? What is up with that? Something in the water around here or what?

Momma Mary, you sound so sad. I feel that way around Father's Day. But these days are for enjoying good memories, as well as making them.

Kathy, sorry to hear about your DD's breakup. You really do just never quit being a mom, I guess.

In other news, I got the Callanetics "10 years in 10 hours" DVD in the mail today. I did some of the exercises but croaked before I got very far out of the warmup (boy, am I NOT flexible). Very interesting program. It truly is NO impact, but doing the exercises hurts like a son of a gun. It should be a good thing. I just hope that I can actually DO some of these things soon (in some where you get into a pose and then lift your leg off the floor, my leg was glued to the floor!). To Kim especially, since she asked, this really does seem like something that is hard to explain!

After that, today just really kicked my butt. I had to go to the feed mill and do the big grain load and unload. Before I could go I had to jump the truck and then that didn't even work, so I had to take the battery out and go to the hardware store and get it replaced. Then came back from the mill and had to deworm horses (which involved walking down a bunch of them in the field, because they saw the dewormer and knew "the game was afoot"). Then I had to feed them. Then I had to load up the truck with crap to take to the township "Clean Up Day" tomorrow morning. I don't know why they seem to schedule those on things like Mother's Day weekend. Anyway, didn't get indoors and cook supper until after 9, and I was tired.

Meanwhile, I had been looking forward to trying a fancy grass-fed beef burger that came with the UPS dude today. That was the project when I got inside, making burgers. But I never really care for pre-pattified burgers...they are too squished and hard, like burger pellets. Anyway, I don't know if it was the pattification, the fact that I may just really like beef that is fed grain and given hormones (a product of my lifetime, I guess), or WTH, but these things didn't taste good. They weren't the right texture, the right color, or the right flavor. They sort of sucked, and I was REALLY hungry by then, so odds are they actually sucked quite large.

So then I was so tired I was crashing on the couch and didn't feel like going to get my meter before injecting my evening insulin. I just calculated how much I should have needed for the burger (since I forgot, in my starvation, to check my blood sugar and bolus before I ate it) and shot up. Then I checked my meter and found out I was already LOW, and what I just shot was likely to put me in a coma overnight. DANG! So I had to eat Smarties, to get the quick dextrose bump to cover the insulin I just injected. DANG! I absolutely hate it when I have to eat a bunch of carbs like that, when I have done without all day (I could have actually enjoyed eaten 16 carbs worth of FRUIT or something!)! Anyway, that'll teach me to be lazy and not check first, I suppose. I am really tired of this condition and having to be an insulin junkie .

Anyway, tomorrow will be a better day! Bright and early gotta go and empty all of this crap off the truck. It is a CRAZY pile of crap...you accumulate a lot on a farm...and it looks like we are some Appalachian refugees movin' off to Beverly. (No offense to any Appalachians who actually might read this post). Anywho, we definitely get our $10 per truckload charge worth out of these days...haha.

Have a nice Saturday you all, and a nice Mother's Day to all the mommas!!!!

WOW the insulin shots sound like a drag....sorry you have to go through that.
Life on a farm sounds fantastic. Are you married to a farmer? Were you raised on farm? Shortly after my father remarried ( a ***** hahaha) I went to Wisconsin, to meet her daughter (also a *****) who lived on a farm. I actually milked a cow....which for a city girl born in New York and raised in California.......that was a big deal
I loved the animals and the beauty of it all. I remember thinking back then (I was a teenager) how bored I would be, but now at 36 I think it would be lovely.

Morin' gals! Hey, I'm actually posting on a saturday- that's b/c my mom kept the kids for me last night! I got some sleep. I got done reading the posts from yesterday, Mary I couldn't even imagine not wanting to be close to my MIL. Does your son realize that this hurts you, especially having a grandson. I would be so hurt!! You are so sweet. I also have a great mom & dad, MIL & FIL!! They help watch the kids all week for us too. They want to. So I am very lucky to Shala.

Have fun today shala.

Okay I did good all day yesterday, then I had 2 glasses of white zin For dinner we had fish and shrimp scampi.
And you know what I am up 3 pounds so 143 what the heck. Feel like such a loser right now!!!!!! Guess I should of looked on line how many carbs Zin has. I haven't drank anything in about a year and all that talking of drinks put me in the mood to have some wine. Didn't think it could be to harmless. Guess it was SO BYE BYE TO MY MINI GOAL.

okay I gotta get ready and pick up the kids, MIL & FIL are having mother's day cook out. My DH just left for INDY pole day. It' gonna be a nice sunny day here
Talk to you gals later and fun today!!
