Ok girls, I took the first step to getting me some more carbs...I went to the store and bought an apple...a pink lady apple, it was so sweet! I ate it with PB and that was my dinner...well actually it was breafast, lunch and dinner, since I haven't eaten today...IT WAS GOOD! I think I am going to do like Tommie said and write down everything I eat...I have done that before...if it doesn't grow in the ground or on a tree or moo, cluck, or oink, then i'm not eating it!

hello everyone!!! I don't even know where to begin...I feel so outta the loop I have been gone so darn long! Let me reintroduce myself! lol....crazy, insane type a personality over achieving trying to do too much stressed out....lets see what did I miss guys??? lol
I wrapped up all of my grad school stuff on sunday...took Monday off to go to the Dr office...and then cleaned house for a while! lol....how sad is it that I cherish my time to clean house right now! Pathetic huh? I gotta get a life! lol! I don't know what I am doing food wise...I haven't been eating much at all lately....especially in the past week....coffee or tea for breakfast, then a turkey sandwich on RR (mayo)rolls and dinner is either a chicken sausage link or a hard boiled egg or two....if that...the past couple of days I haven't had dinner at all....plus (and this is why I went to the DR - partly) nothing is staying down. Stress...itsa killer! I am down to 215...and I bet by the end of the week i am down a few more lbs....but I know I can't keep this up forever...I have to get back into a routine of normal eating...which means I need a normal life...what ever the heck that is! Ok, I am going to run and relax for a bit...I'm so glad I'm back guys! I have missed all of you terribly!!!!! |

That's a good way to look at it Shala! Bet that apple was tasty ... I haven't eaten any apples yet.

Diana had a doctor's appointment?? I missed something... is everything okay?? I totally forgot to mention ya'll that I did the treadmill again today! So I decided to set myself a goal to try to get in 30 minutes of walking 5 days a week. Should work out to be 6 to 7 miles a week. I know healthwise that I need to at least walk even if I don't do anything else for exercise. Let's see how it goes! ![]()

Now, Shala & Mary are talking about apples--see what you started Tommie & Brandi! ...I swear I'm gonna have nightmares about apple goodies chasing me tonight...apple strudel, spicy applesauce, caramel apples, apple pie, apple spice cake....I could go on, ya know!!!
I will not fall off the 'apple wagon' now. Too close to my vacation goal, ladies-just 2.5 lbs. in 2.5 weeks.WTG, Mary on the treadmill...from one fellow I-hate-exerciser to another...awesome, 2 days in a row turns into 3 days, and so on. Pretty soon, you'll just be doing it every day because you don't want to break the string. And it helps, that's for sure. And Kim, enjoy the extra $$$ (and WTG catching the mistakes...that'll make 'em sit up & take notice of you. Probably be more $$$ in your future, too.) Goin' to bed now, gals (and dream of apple goodies ) Night, all.

Good Morning my lovely ladies!! Got on the scale this morning and surprisingly it wasn't up, I had dropped a pound
142 now. Man, my period has me all wacked out this week!! My hormones are up and down. I went on to everyday health which has a calorie, carb,sugar.....counter. I am going to start logging everything I put in my mouth. So far this morning I had bacon and some coffee. I like seeing the progress on a chart. Not so much worried about calories now, but I do want to take in what I need for energy, which is now 1423 calories. I can burn any extra off by exercising!! Theresa hang in there- And yes stress can take a toll on your body, so please try and take care of yourself! You may have already mentioned this but are you finally done w/grad school? You said you wrapped everything up on Sunday, so does this mean you are finally done for good? Cathy hope you didn't have any apple nightmares last night ![]() Thanks again for your support yesterday girls ya

Morning ladies... about to make my grocery list and head to the store. Have ya'll noticed that the cost of groceries has gone up a lot? We seem to be getting much less in the cart, for much more money. A fallout from the gas prices I'm sure. CONGRESS needs to get off their behinds and do something about this gas situation because otherwise these prices are gonna hit $5 a gallon soon.
Everything Bush has sent to them they have rejected! These people need to do their jobs!!!!!!!Cathy LOL... hope you didn't have dreams of being chased by apple turnovers!!! I had some kind of dream about food the other night. Couldn't remember it exactly when I woke up but knew it was about food.Yeaaa Brandi on that pound!!! ![]() I agree ... writing it down makes you more accountable about what goes in your mouth. I use a computer program that I have on my laptop and some people use the online version of FitDay, BUT you can use an old fashioned pocket notebook and it works too. You would be surprised about what you eat unconsiously and then totally forget you ate it!! Sometimes I will leave things off myself - just forgetting to log a pat of butter, or my salad dressing! Whether you're counting calories or not, it all adds up. I also do think that it is important to get the minimum calories your body needs just to function and I'm afraid that on low carb many of us don't do that. When you consistently go under those necessary calories I am convinced that the body goes into starvation mode thinking it is not going to be getting any more food and so it holds on to everything storing it as fat to feed off of!! I am convinced that is why we either gain or stay the same - not eating enough. Well, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! ![]() Quote:

Morning Mary, I agree w/ya on the grocries!! I was thinking of you last night and your garden. Probably cheaper doing a garden, heck throw in some cows, pigs, chickens and we'll be set. We all will probably have to back to farming!!
Don't see how people are getting by these days. We barely make it pay check to pay check. I even thought about putting my son in cloth diapers, because they are about 30.00 a box!! I finally broke him of the bottle, be a week tomorrow!! Last night was his 2nd night sleeping all the way thru the night I'm finally gettin some sleep. Well have fun at the store! |

Jen, doing great. I am about at one full month of doing my balanced eating now and I lost a total of 8 pounds. Slow, but steady and hoping
that it continues. Even if it is only a pound or two I'll take it, so long as it keeps up! ![]() Brandi, I know!!! We are on a very fixed income right now and I'm not having any luck with finding work down here so I totally relate to the paycheck to paycheck thing. I have spent a lot out of our savings and I am praying that neither of us gets sick! Thank goodness our only debt right now is our mortgage and I'm working on getting rid of that too. I hear ya on the baby stuff ... my grandson is only 8 months old and DIL said that it's costing them about $50 a week just for formula and diapers, and that's not counting the baby food or cereal. Oh lordy... I wish I had some land and some farm animals... I dunno tho... I love animals so much that I could never have one slaughtered! I'm not sure that having your own garden is cheaper unless you do it large scale and then sell some - the plants aren't real expensive, but fighting the bugs can be. I'm hoping that Jerry Baker's formulas help! I sprayed everything down yesterday afternoon with one of his forumulas that is supposed to help so we'll see!Quote:

Oh yeah, I forgot about Jerry Baker, you'll have to keep us posted. And I am glad the formula days are gone!!! I nursed w/both mine but still subbed w/formula! It's even harder getting a job these days. I am lucky to have a job, even though I still wish I were part time. Did you use to have a job?

Cathy....Sorry about those APPLE dreams!! I chuckled out loud over that one!!
![]() Well my cake turned out pretty good!! Well that was after we cooked the second cake because the first one stuck to the pan!! I left my DD cooking while I went to ball practice with the twins. I don't guess she greased the pan!! So at 8:30 last night, I got the second cake done and stuck it in the freezer on a peice of card board lined with aluminum foil so it would cool fast!! Finally got it done about 9:30. I just iced it white with cream cheese icing then piped some purple trim around the bottom (our school colors!) and piped a baseball on top with "Happy Birthday Coach Phil" on the top. Pretty basic. Not my best work either!! But it was short notice and I wasn't in the cake making mood!! I'm still not sure how my child got the chore of making this!!! I figure her teacher asked her because she knows that Ty cooks....Who knows!! ![]() And yes....I ate cake!! What else was I gonna do with the one that stuck to the pan??? EAR MUFFS CATHY!! ![]() Dang.....I want all of you guys planting GARDENS to remember me when you start getting veg's!! YOU HEAR ME??? Just ship em my direction!! I'm still kicking myself for not Planting something!! I just live on a rocky hill and I don't have a good garden spot!! But with 4 kids, you would think that I could have gotten them to help me keep it weeded and worked!! Okay...Food prices!! This is a subject that really makes me mad!! I am a bargain shopper deluxe!! I'm a coupon QUEEN!! Well I'm gonna have to become a MAGICIAN too I guess, Because even clipping my coupons and bargain shopping, its still costing me a fortune to feed the family!! Here are a couple of things I've been doing to try and PREPARE for what I know is gonna happen!!! PRICES SOARING!!! 1. I watch the newspaper adds...when something is on sale, I buy in BULK!! For instance...Van Camp Pork n Beans...I pay 79 cents a can. Last week they were on sale 3 for 1.00. I bought a case!! Summer is coming and baked beans are cheap for cook outs!! And the expiration date was 2010~! 2. Frozen chicken breast....I caught the Tyson Chicken Tenders on sale for 3.99 per 3lb bag!! I bought 3 bags and put them in my freezer that use to remain practically empty!!! These are great for any recipe!! Soups...grilling...casseroles...etc!! 3. Sausage....caught it on sale for 99 cents....Bought like 6 sticks and put them in the freezer!! 4. Canned veg's....Wow...you use to be able to catch these 4 for 1.00. Lately the cheapest is 2 for 1.00!!! I buy mine at the Dollor General store unless the grocery store run them on sale!! I don't really care about the brand...I can add butter and spice to make them taste better!! Or I buy the frozen when on sale and stock up my freezer!! 5. Frozen convenience foods!! I watch the adds and when hot pockets and pizza's are on sale, I stock up!! These are great for my kids to heat on their own after school!! Like the local grocery store had small pizza's on sale 2 for 1.00 and I bought 20!!! 6. Not to mention POP!! I mean Holy CRAP!! We go threw pop like you wouldn't believe!! When its on sale, I buy 10 cases!!! Times are tough girls!! Shop wisely!!! I paid 2.69 for a carton of eggs!! What the heck???

Once we getta little extra money I'm gonna buy a little freezer to put in the garage to stock up on meat! How long is meat good for in the freezer? Is it 6 mths - 1 yr? We buy boxed lunches for the kids, hate doing it, but it's cheap and easy. Wish I could come up w/different ideas for their lunches. The grandparents have them through the week while I work. 2.69 for eggs!! I forgot to buy some last week, so I don't know how much they are here. Next we'll here of people robbing chicken farms for the eggs

Brandi, yeah, I'm a paralegal, with over 20 years of legal experience! Hurricane Katrina took my last job away ... I was working for one of the casinos local corporate offices. We had just been bought out by a major Las Vegas player when Katrina hit - which was a good thing in a way because I was under a retention agreement and ended up getting severance pay. Most people who lost their jobs didn't have that.
Anyway, I guess once the two casinos here got destroyed the parent company wasn't sure what they wanted to do. So, a lot of us lost our jobs. I have applied for so many jobs I've lost count and I don't hear a word back from them. I can't imagine what is going on except that I made really great money working in a corporate law department those last 12 years and law firms pay a lot less. Plus I'm RP certified and one of only 8 paralegals in the state who are. That could scare alot of employers off I suppose. Then of course I'm overqualified to get a job as a secretary or even a cashier at WalMart. I guess I need to open my own business. ![]() Quote:
