Heavy Cream...What do you do with it?
A while back I saw a thread that had someone's menus posted, and everynight he would have heavy cream with Divinchi's (sp)! What does everyone do with the cream? I bought some and now I need ideas. Do you eat this as a treat or what?
TIA Angie |

OK not sure if you can do it here, but while I was low carbing last year, I would mix heavy cream with SF pudding (any flavor) whip it up and it makes a delicous mousse!!!!! I also add a bit to a can of chopped tomatoes and make a cream sauce. My mom uses it in scrambled eggs.

I have a girl that I was journaling with that used to whip it so it was stiff, put it in the freezer for a 1/2 hour and then sprinkle instant coffee on it.
I use it to make quiche. (6 eggs, 1/2 c cream, cheese to your liking, brocolli to your liking, bacon bits, the real kind, put into muffin tins and bake @ 350 until golden) |

Sounds good. Thanks for the ideas!
I have another question. Can you eat/drink too much heavy cream? It has 0 carbs in it. I've been putting a little bit in a coffee mug and putting a little bit of sugar free "Quick" in it and eating it with a spoon. I think I need to give this up! LOL! Any opinions? |

I pour some into a glass of diet root beer. It tastes just like a root beer float. Just make sure to leave plenty of room in the glass for the foam.

Heavy cream has only trace carbs, which is why Atkins says use it instead of say fat free/skim milk, which has 13 carbs in one cup! I don't remember if he says in the book why he limits it to the 4 teaspoons (for '72 at least) but Lynn is probably right, it could easily become a trigger if you overindulge. I use it right now in my coffee and to make whipped cream for my sugar free jello. It can also be used to make cream sauces (say for chicken) and creamy salad dressings. And later on for me, in many different desserts, including that delicious whipped mousse up above and other whipped delights, and even some forms of cheesecakes out there if I remember correctly.

Yum! This does sound good. I am definitely going to try that, but you also reminded me about chai iced tea ... made from fresh tea leaves not a mix or premade and sweetened ... and with just a splash of cream, instead of milk. Should be totally legal, right? I think I'll have some tonight!

I saw a recipe in the 'pumpkin' thread where someone said to microwave splenda, creamcheese, and splenda for a quick treat...
it was ok, but I tried it with cream instead and it was much more delicious. and fluffy ![]() (not sure if pumpkin is allowed in 72 but while I'm trying to follow it, as it makes much more sense to me than this DANDR stuff, I do need a mushy inoffensive treat ... eggs and cheese and meat are all such BOLD flavors!: D) |

I don't pour a whole cup into it! Maybe like three tablespoons per half can of pumpkin, which is all I can handle a day anyway.
Cream is one of those things that has never stalled me, last time I did Atkins as well. I guess I'm lucky ![]() |

If you are still looking for ideas for your cream, here are three that I do:
I used it tonight to make a "breading" for my catfish. I mix a little heavy cream into a beaten egg and then dip it kraft parmesan and fry like normal. Mmmmmm. 1 carb if you count your egg. I also buy one of those birds eye steam packs of seasoned garlic cauliflower, steam it. Then blend the cauliflower with a little heavy cream and butter. The cauliflower is hot so it melts the butter. It tastes just like butter and herb mashed potatoes. Sometimes I drop a little sour cream and cheese on it to feel like I am eating a loaded potato. I also use it to make alfredo sauce instead of milk. It is great over chicken and spaghetti squash.

I absolutely love heavy cream - whip it up with some s/f davinci syrup and it's a wonderful dessert!

![]() When I rarely have AS, I use it in Italian sodas: sugar-free syrups (like you see in coffee shops) HWC club soda If you add the HWC before the club soda, a lot of foam will form. If you don't want foam, you can add the club soda before the HWC. |

Here is recipe not mentioned. I mix about 1 tsp of sf white chocolate pudding mix with about 1/4 cup of cream. I beat it until it is whipped and then add da vinci syrup (I use almond rocca) to taste. The syrup will make it into a dipping sauce instead of whipped cream. Dip strawberries in it. This tastes just La Madeleine Strawberry Romanoff. Out of this world!

I have one of the those blenders you can put in a large cup.. I take the heavy cream and mix it with a few sliced strawberries and a bit of splenda... it's like strawberry mouse. Yum
