I have lost at least another pound this morning, although I haven't had my official weigh-in yet. I just got on the scale with my nightgown on and was at a new low. We'll see when I have my official weigh-in later. Interesting, but I weigh less after being up a couple hours, so that is when the official weigh-in is. Looks like I have a 2.5 loss for this past week, my biggest loss in months. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Good morning, everybody. Hope you're enjoying your Memorial Day.

I'm an old timer around here--dropped ~80 pounds (down to 215) about three years ago doing a combo of 72 and Kimkins. But life got in the way, and I got a bad attitude, and "comforted" myself back up to 278. Started back on March 18 and dropped pretty quickly to 264 within about 4-5 weeks on 2002 Atkins, but I've bounced around from 262-267 since early May.

SO, I'm back on the 72 wagon today. Starting weight: 263 per the scale this morning. Gotta cut back on the cream (was using too much in my coffee and in other foods) and eat really, really clean for a while. Here's how I got ready for today (for anyone who's thinking about getting started):
1. RE-READ the 1972 book!!!
2. Last night, I baked a bunch of chicken breasts and made rev rolls.
3. Bought lettuce & celery
4. Bought Newman's olive oil & vinegar dressing (1 carb per 2 T).
5. Making jello today to have on hand as a treat.

I can't stress enough how important it is to read the book--or at least Tooter's stick post above. Although I've read it 20 times (and I have the actual 72 book that I found for $3 at a used book store), I find something new that I missed EVERY time I pick it up!! What "new" thing did I find this time?? This...

"Remember, your tape measure is a better friend than your scale, not only more accurate, but better able to report on the actual fat (not just temporary water) losses this diet achieves. In checking thousands of patients' measurements, we have found that a dramatic loss of inches is invariable on this diet. This is true even at times when temporarily no loss of pounds has occurred, so long as the patient has been true to the diet. This is due to the shrinking of fat cells that occurs as they are mobilized to supply the body's energy on the anti-carbohydrate regime."

AND this...

"It's possible to slow yourself down by eating too much salad. Because the green salad is the only source of carbohydrate in your first week's diet, those who have a great metabolic resistance to losing have to be careful not to eat too much salad."

So, I measured this morning (ugh ) and have placed a measuring cup on the kitchen cabinet to remind me to MEASURE my veggies this week. I KNOW it works, but eyeballing usually gets me into trouble.

Anyhow, have a great week...I'll be checking in every day.

Shari

Hi Shari!

So glad to see you here. Please post often!

Going to run to my oldest son's baseball game, and then to a yummy BBQ at my mom's. I have a great LC plan as I am bringing LC Cabbage Picnic salad and marinated shrimp skewers for the grill.

I will check in later, would love to hear how everyone made it through the long weekend.

Hugs!

GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY AND THEIR FAMILIES!

Morning all,
Well, scale is slightly up this morning to 162.4, Tom is late but knocking, which explains my increase in appetite yesterday. I stayed with 15-20 c this week even yesterday but my protein, fat and calories were way up there. Am hoping to put a kink into that today. Was also very tired yesterday, its getting pretty busy with tourists now.
Of course instead of taking a nap, I ate, and it shows today.

So, here is to a new week, and wishing everybody great success.

Hi, all. Just popping in to post yesterday's menu. Will try to get back later in the day...

Breakfast: coffee w/cream & vanilla davinci, 2 rev rolls, bacon & mayo
Lunch: chicken, bacon & mayo on two rev rolls, 1/2 cup celery
Snack: LindaSue's cheese crackers (1 slice Deli Deluxe American cheese nuked until crunchy)
Dinner: pork tenderloin, lettuce, celery, 2 T Newman's Own Olive Oil & Vinegar dressing
Snack: SF jello

Went a tad over on the cream yesterday, but kept it in check today (according to 72 guidelines, anyway). Brought ALL my food for the day from home, so no reason to stray...

Have a great day!!

Good morning ladies.

My loss stuck this morning, which is unusual. Once I have a loss, I usually bounce up a bit. Glad I didn't.

SHinOK~good advise for us all, and welcome to our great group. My mantra through my slow loss has been measure, measure, measure. Even when I'm not losing on the scale, the inches continue to drop off. I measured yesterday and had my biggest drop in inches since I started measuring in February!

Joan~so glad you had a great time with your son. My oldest son is 14, turning 15 this summer. He is a great young man and fun to be around. Ditto that for my 17 year old DD and 12 year old DS!

bubu~we all have those higher fat days. At least you didn't cheat. You did great with TOM arriving!

Carol~congrats on your loss! It will happen, my dear. Slow but sure wins the race!

Jaimie~that cabbage salad sounds great! Care to share the recipe? I love cabbage in any form.

Bella~you look fabulous in your photo. Looks like you had a very successful party!

Dianne~hi. Hope you had a good holiday!

Meekness~I tried the weighing only once a month thing, but I'm just a failure at staying off the scale.

O.K., I must get out and spray some blackberry bushes this morning since it will be nice and warm today.

Good morning,

Everyone is doing so well, congrats!!

Im down 1 pound under my goal now...and am planning on getting to 145 which is 5 under and then seeing if that is my cushion, or if I want to be at 145 and go to 140 as my cushion. I still have my mommy belly as they say from having my son, its not too bad really. Maybe flat just isnt gunna happen!

Looks like you have a great support group here. I would love to join you all.

Congrats Bella and Cheryl. I noticed you made the Kimkins front page success stories.

I ended up eating a couple of pieces of sugar free chocolate over the holiday weekend....what a mistake. I gained a pound! Amazing what a little cheat will do to you.

Thanks Sue and Joan for checking in on me. I haven't been on plan for about 5 days and it's embarrassing to admit that to all you success stories. I don't know why I don't stick with it. I know it works, I've done it in the past. Every day I get up, start out great and blow it later in the day. I just finally received my Atkins 72 book in the mail so I'm reading it now. I was camping all weekend, so I was away from the computer. Sooooooo, here I go again! This morning I had eggs and bacon. Thanks for the support, REALLY!!

Kasey - you are so sweet! Right now my daughter thinks I'm the root of all evil, ah yes, being 17! As they say, this too shall pass.

Just a great check-in. Congrats to all you losers!

My scale has been really good to me this past week. I had stayed about the same for almost 3 weeks and then whoosh. I do think some is due to my thyroid medicine finally kicking in. I started it May 1.

Lisa - Glad to see you back. Don't beat yourself up - just take it one day at a time.

BBL.

Have a great lowcarb day!

Bella... my eating has improved since our last talk I wake up feeling lighter every morning. I'm scared to stand on the scale.. I don't want to become discouraged. I can tell my waistline is shrinking and I'm happy!

Congrats on reaching goal and continuing to lose
