Hello!
Hi all.
You all read so many of these "hello" posts every day I'm sure -- thank you for taking the time to read mine. ![]() My name is Elizabeth, and im 25 years old. I am not new to lowcarbing, or these forums... but like many people have lost a lot of weight and thought I could handle reintroducing sugars into my diet -- but I simply cannot control myself! 1 year ago tomorrow, my grandmother died. Of heart disease, related to her type II diabetes. This shaved literally almost 20 years off her life, and was all completely preventable. I loved my Nana very much, we were extremely close, and without going on and on about how wonderful she was, it should be known that she was just awesome. She was sassy, independent, a real firecracker. The one thing she always wanted me to do: Take care of myself, stay healthy. So here I am. Starting tomorrow, I'm doing Atkins '72. Im going to eat clean, and celebrate the 1 year anniversary of her passing with me starting to take much better care of myself. She would be very proud. Wish me luck! Good luck Ducklet,
I have lost my father 3 years ago, and my mother passed away this last April. Both illnesses related to diabetes. In May, something just snaps in me. Time to take care of myself. The sugar is in me, making me gain 7 pds over a period of 3 days if I consume any type of sugar. I'm learning to work my way around it and I'm feeling way much better now. I have removed any white stuffs from my kitchen and replaced them with healthier condiments. If I crave for sugar, I eat a piece of meat or protein, any kind. And it works!

What a beautiful way of observing the anniversary of your Grandmother's passing -- by doing exactly what she'd want you to do!
Bless you, and I won't wish you luck -- you don't need it. You've already got the right attitude to succeed! |
