New here from Canada
I just began Atkins 72. I will give you some historyabout myself: I did Atkins a few times before and I would quit each time because I would begin gaining. Probably too many cals in for my energy output. I lost 16 pounds this summer following balanced eating, exercising 2 times per day, and stopping eating by 6 pm. It was about 100 carbs a day, plenty of fat and protein, and no frankenfoods. I want to get down about 15 or 20 more. I have been working out for a while, but yesterday I just started into my hard core exercise program It consists of weights, core exercise, and 3 miles of interval running or 3 miles of intervals on the stairmaster. Yes I am sore today.
My carb cravings were for some reason getting crazy in August and September. Also, I was struggling through the 2 months to get my weight to drop below 140. I am 5'2" and 120-125 is ideal for me. I mean in terms of the size I want to be. I am not looking for a size 2 or anything like that. Just a bit less curvey. I am a middle school teacher who is taking a year off after giving my life totally to my job for 18 years. I loved it most of the time. But I am cherishing each minute I have off. I'd love to get to know you folks here and look forward to being a regular poster. |

Hi Chrissy!
I am not a regular to this part of the Lowcarbfriends site, but I have been reading this board for several days. I saw that no one had responded to your message and felt like welcoming you. Don't take it personally that no one has responded. From what I've observed, "the regulars" frequent the "50 in 50" challenge thread and don't respond much on the other threads. Check out the above challenge and maybe join there. ---Also, I was wondering...you said that you before were on Atkins and were at 100 carbs per day. That is a lot of carbs. Was that later in your WOE (maintenance)? It seems too high of a carb amount for any other of Atkin's levels. Finally, I wanted to tell you congrats on your sabbatical. Enjoy it! I am a fourth grade teacher. I took off three years, (2001 - 2004), but am now back at it. I love teaching, but the break was good for my DDs and myself. (My youngest dd was in preschool at the time.) Hope things go well for you!

Thanks so much for the welcome chrissy, yoyo and deli!!
To clarify, I was on Atkins a year ago. I neglected to say that. This summer is when I was doing the balanced eating of keeping my carbs no higher than one hundred carbs a day. Happy Sunday! |
