Sure! I'd love to step up to the challenge. It can't hurt huh? Perhaps this will keep me motivated to not slip up, but to keep going strong. Thanks for the wonderful challenge and prompt.

Hi,
lowcarbkasey, Count me in, I really want to drop this weight fast!!! Sick of this... Today my weight is 265.5, if I could get down to 215.5 by Halloween, WOW!!!! Lets Go.. heywoodwalker,MOMofMICKEY and gurlradiant: This sounds like an excellent challange and would be great to have a group on the same plan... Don't know if it is possible, but I guess it also depends on your starting weight and how much you need to lose... I feel I could get rid of 50 pounds fast if I am strict... In the past I lost 60 pounds in three months but was not extremely strict...Today, so far, I had: B 2 rev rolls (black coffee) L tuna on a rev roll (black coffee) for dinner I plan on having a grilled hamburger with mayo and one slice of onion. Wooo, lets go.............. ![]()

So far I've had...
B 2 lg eggs, scram in butter/olive oil mix. Snk 1 (franken food) Atkins strawberry shake (b4 I commited to the 50 in 50, won't do anymore of those until the 50 is gone!) Lunch will be turkey slices wrapped in green leaf lettuce with mustard. Dinner is to be hamburgers with cheese, no bread. I do still have to get another snack when I am out for my last break. Possibly cheese or tuna. ![]() |

If you really want to loose that kind of weight, go for the Meat and Egg way of eating. Cut out everything but meat and eggs but be sure to eat fats. Don't just do lean meat. The more fat you eat, the more weight you'll loose. I've been doing it for a week now and feel fantastic. Just drink water and take a good mulitvitiman. Don't restrict calories or you'll go into fasting mode but as always, don't eat when you aren't hungry. You'll see the best ketosis of your life and pounds should melt off. Remember, fats are important. You can't live on just straight protein or you'll get sick. However, you can live indefinatly on meat and fats. I was turned on to this in another forum from a member who's done this diet for 47 years.
This may be just too hard for some because most people like veggies. However, I've never had much a taste for them and don't miss them at all. I believe you CAN loose 50 in 50 BUT, you're going to have to find a level of dedication that you may have never had to call upon before, even in the strictest Atkins induction phase. I've lost 30 in 30 days before just doing induction the first time I did Atkins. (72 plan) so I know 50 would have been achievable had I not added back the carbs which are not needed. Good luck. I may have to through in my hat on this challenge as well. |

ive done 32 in 30 before but then started upping my carb intake a bit so weight loss slowed.
right now im at 36lbs in 55 days but ive been doing about 20-30 carbs a day the whole time (yes even from the beginning) ive been thinking about dropping carbs further to see if i lose faster. and oh yeah i hate veggies! |

Veggies are overrated. I can get more vitimans and minerals from a good supliment than a salad bar full of veggies. I am probably super carb sensitive or something but I feel tons better without carbs. "Good" or "Bad". You may think me crazy, but remember, most people though we were crazy for not eating bread...

Chunky, how is the "elimination" situation? Do you use a fiber suppliment(sp?) or do you eliminate every so many days? I am nervous about that, not enough to keep me from loosin the weight right now, but to eat meat and eggs alone for long periods..... my concern would be the need to clean out my digestive tract.

I'm not sure if 50 in 50 is possibly for those who are closer to goal.... but as long as you don't get discouraged if your losses are a bit slower, what great motivation!!!
A few suggestions that I have for those who don't lose a lb. a day on induction: -cut out dairy -no sweeteners -drink green tea (the real stuff, not arizona in a bottle junk!) -exercise If I lost 30 in 50 I'd be ecstatic. Heck, 25 in 50 would be amazing. But I'm going to renew my dedication today, knowing that there are 50 days until halloween. Good luck everyone!

Hi, Thank you for that link, I will surely go thru that.... I am, for the most part, just doing meat and eggs right now. However, I added mayo to my tuna, is that a no? and does that include cutting out butter? No black coffee or tea? Tonight for dinner I made chop meat in a pan with a teaspoon of onion and a teaspoon of celery and some chili powder.. No good?
chunkymunkey, what do you mean "through in my hat "? Does that mean you are in or out? Sorry, I'm a little slow Also, when does everyone weigh in the mornings or at night.... I am lighter in the a.m.... I guess thats the best time... Good luck everyone, we can do this... ![]() |

THIS IS GREAT!!
Oh me goodness! I'm so glad so many people want to join in! I'm gonna really need the support, and I'm here for all of you to. Yes, I think a meat and eggs with extra fat plan is in order for this 50/50 plan, but I'm up for that.
Let me tell you a bit of my story... I've always been bigger. I was the girl who had to get a bra at eight and didn't like all the attention I got from early development. At age 12 I was a size 12/14. Then at age 14 I was in a horrible car wreck with my mom and lost my memory short term and was put to bed with aches and pains. On top of that we were moving so I was depressed, eatting was my crutch. BY 17 I was size 20. Also at 17 I dated a man who "made me feel good about myself", a year later I was pregnant. Only to find out another year or so later that my then husband wasn't only making me feel good about myself but was making lots of other people feel good too, if you know what I mean. He was also great at making fun of my weight and belittling me. After having the courage to leave when I was 20, I had already eatten and stressed my way to size 28. Here I am, 23 and a half, all that's behind me. I have a great new husband who respects, loves, and supports me and two beautiful children. I've healed on the inside, but the outside is trying to creep bigger than a 28. I need help with the outside! I'm ready to make the commitment. I've stopped emotionally eatting, but it's only stopped the weight being put on, I need to take what's still there off!!! And I honestly believe low carbing is the best. When I first left my exhusband I started the plan and lost a good bit in a short time, but it's not enough to give me a full life with my kids. We all have our reasons for putting on the lbs. A stressful way of life and just life in general was mine. But don't we owe it to ourselves to really give this a try? I mean REALLY make a change in our lives and help others make that change to? Let's remember THIS 9/11 for one where we appreciate life, appreciate ourselves, and make ourselves the best we can be!! We can people! We can do this!!!! Thank you for your replys and goodluck on your journey! I'll be there every step of the way!!! Look for my new threads, each day I'll try to post a "50/50 day..." kinda thing!! ![]() Last edited by lowcarbkasey : 09-11-2006 at 09:29 PM. |

Count me in. Today was the start of my weightloss challenge for myself. I wanted to lose 26lbs in 26 days as I graduate from grad school on October 7th so this would be awesome. So joining w/ you all would be great to have people to keep me accountable.
I dont have a prob w/ meat and eggs but how do you get in the fat. I cant see to get enough. Also do any of you fry your food? And do you use condiments w/ your meat (lc ketchup, mayo, ranch dressing)? I want to make sure I'm doing this right.

Hey Slimwithin26!
Some condiments are ok like mayo and mustard. Just stay away from the "light" or "fat free". there's hidden carbs in those. As for ketchup, it has a little too much sugar, but you can buy low carb brands that taste close to the same. Ranch dressing is my personal favorite, only hidden valley will do for me. And at only 1 carb per tbls, it's a winner. Best of luck to you and thanks for joining the team!!!! ![]() |

Hi LowcarbKasey,
What a story and you are only 23... You have been through alot, but it seems you have overcome all of the hurdles that were bringing you down... Congrats on meeting the right man , that makes a difference, nothing worse then someone putting you down... I finally met the right man when I was 36 and got married and had my daughter when I was 40! she is now 18 months old and the best thing in my life... and my husband, of course ![]() Yes, we owe it to ourselves and our children to be happy and healthy!!! Lets go, full steam ahead, we can do this!!!!! This is a great thread and I am so glad you started this!!! I already added this challange to my signature... God Bless.. Count me in too!, This is just what I need. I would love to lose 50 in 50, but I won't turn my back on 30 or 40 either.
Will the challenge stay on the '72 board or move to the challenge board? I want to know where to find you guys .Today will be day 1 for me, haven't eaten or exercised yet so this is a clean slate. Lets see my weight today is.....got to go weigh in.....232.6....oh my, up a couple, but I did eat late last night (large salad and salty sausage) and have had a few cups of coffee...50 pounds would take me to say 183 to be even....I'll take it! Are we all pretty much following Atkins '72 then? I agree with the earlier post of added fat, cuts down on the appetite. Not a huge fan of veggies myself, but I do feel that 2-3 cups of veg are a necessary part of making things move along.

Kasey-- what a story!! I'm sorry for all the pain you had to go through. I'm glad you've found a great man who will treat you right! I'm also 23 and I know how it feels when you're supposed to be young and thin and just aren't... I'm here for you if you need to talk ever!!
Today I was 185.6. Also 2nd day of TOM, so I'm not sure if my loss yesterday was from water or me eating on plan but I'm going to the gym today if it kills me!!Good luck everyone! |

I am going to post this link to an extremely interesting and somewhat radical thread about the way some believe we should be eating. I happen to agree with TheBear, who started the thread, on this WOE. You may not but at worst, you'll come out with a lot of interesting information to process. Remember, this thread may seem very radical to you but that's what people say about LC diets in general. I started reading this thread and could not stop. I believe that I have found my LC WOE. I can tell you that after only a week on this WOE, I feels TONS better than when I eat veggies, my skin is clearing of some small bumps I've had on my upper arms and my hair feels softer. I sleep less but get more rest at night. I have found that I'm actually a lot more regular after eliminating veggies, upping my fat intake and drinking adequate amounts of water. I say adequate because I don't believe in shoving water down your throat unless you are thirsty. It's a good idea, of course, to drink water regularly but if your belly is full and tight and you’re not thirsty, don't torture yourself. Your body will tell you when it's thirsty, just don't ignore it when it does. On those days when I need some extra help with elimination, I'll take a couple of tablespoons of a high quality coconut oil. (Don't get crap, buy the good stuff) Also, I have a product called Colon Cleanse that I take every couple of days and on occasion, will take a stool softener. The Colon Cleanse will keep your tract flushed out without pain. The stool softener hasn't been needed after eliminating the bulk (fiber) from my diet and getting plenty of fat. I also eliminate less because there is less "waste" material created by this WOE. However, I'm not getting backed up or cramping like I was on just regular Atkins. There are also many of good suggestions for regularity listed in the link above. I would love to explain all of the wonderful information I found there but there is just too much to cover. I encourage you to read that thread. If you aren't getting great results from you LC WOE, and you don't care for veggies, this may be perfect for you. Remember to read with an open mind. Like I said, not eating veggies may be viewed as ludicrous by some, but so is not eating bread, pasta, sugar.... you get my drift. Last edited by chunkymunkey : 09-12-2006 at 08:41 AM. |

Oh, and weight in the mornings before you eat or drink anything. That's the closest you get to your fasting weight. Getting the fat is not hard. Eat the skin on chicken and eat lots of eggs cooked in butter. Add sausage to the eggs. The mayo suggested by another poster is a great way as well. Make some deviled eggs and keep those handy for snacks or meals. I eat a few pork rinds when I need crunchy food. When you fry food, use olive oil. I'll tell you my favorite thing to do. Take some chicken strips, roll them in egg and then in ground up pork rinds. Fry those in olive oil and you'll have what tastes like breaded chicken strips.... mmmmmmmmmmmmm...... chicken stips............. Just don't get carried away and dip them in gravy..... Whatever you do though, don't try and incorporate this with a "low fat" diet. And keep in mind, you don't have to have TONS of fat for this to work. Just don't try and live on lean meats like white meat chicken and turkey only. Get some juicy cows in there too... Last edited by chunkymunkey : 09-12-2006 at 08:52 AM. |

Hi Chunkymonkey,
"Oh, and weight in the mornings before you eat or drink anything. That's the closest you get to your fasting weight. As for me, I do it in the morning AFTER; a BM, clipping my nails, blowing my nose, cutting my hair, shaving my face and back, spitting a few times, and exhailng..." Yea, glad you are joining, you have passed on some excellent information... I am also on board with the meat and eggs also... I am only adding mayo, butter and oil... I have black coffee, but that makes me feel crappy so far, I think I will downgrade to decaf... Today I had bacon and eggs and a rev roll with black coffee.... For lunch, not sure, maybe tuna and mayo on a rev roll and dinner burgers and mayo... Fortunetly for me, I do not have any facial or back hair to eliminate, but I will be spitting and blowing my nose... I'll have my husband do all the back shaving.... Good Day everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
