Thanks Cheryl!

I really want to do this right...I have been frustrated and making excuses for months now. I've gotten to a point where I'm scared I can't lose weight. I've done some serious yo-yo dieting and bingeing these last years and I really wnt to straighten myself out.

Did you tend to lower your fat at all? Today, mine came around 65% which is traditional Atkins. Is this plan basically more strict about veggies...only 2 small salads a day. But can I still use olive oil to cook with? How about salad dressing? I don't use an excessive amount but I'd like to have it with each salad.

I'm planning to only have 1 ounce of cheese a day if that! Also, cream every other day or even less, only 1 tbsp. Sound alright?

I know you've done this with extreme success..I just don't want to be overdoing anything.

Sorry to have so many questions!

I don't use that ****** - whatever that is. I don't watch fats.... I eat "natural cheese" with wax around it. You might love fontinella cheese - if you like sharp cheese. Excellent on salads. It is strict on veggies. I just basically follow what's on that sheet. I must admit though I haven't been strict since the cruise and do want to drop the last 10#. I know I can get to 125# again - just a matter of following it to the T.

Sure you can use olive oil. I basically use sour cream/blue cheese for dressing or Good Seasonings. What I miss most is Catsup but have learned to eat my ballpark franks with mustard (the yellow kind).

So don't worry - eat as much as you want. Remember - you will feel like crap for the first three days. Keep plenty of headache pills around.

By the way - don't worry about your past yo/yo dieting. You WILL lose the weight! Also keep in the back of your mind - if you do cheat you lost 3 days. I weighed once a month at the doctor's office. He didn't want me on the scale every day.

Have you tried today's lc and this older version?

I'm wondering which is 'better' for losing weight quickly. I'm already starting to lose my drive to stick with lc...weekends are the living end for me. and I have only lost 1 lb in the last week

Hi Sherie: Yes I've always followed either my doc's diet or Atkins (more liberal). No I didn't exercise except for walking - about 2 miles a day split (1 mile each time).

It wasnt too bad! I had anticipated a day or so of intestinal upset aka
"download" But truth is that only happened once and it was mild.
My energy was up within about 2-3 days and has remained up the whole time.
In fact, I have to moniter myself so I dont do too much! My hunger is down too; this morning I had 3 ounces of cooked chicken from last night's dinner plus once slice of natural chedder which is just 1 gram of carbs. And Im not hungry! Now Im going to the gym....

All in all, it's been FABULOSO!!

I am really "up". I used to say that when I did Atkins in 1977 that I lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks so how could I stop?? Now it looks like that could happen again

Thanks for all your support, and everyone else too. it really is great!

And you are going to the gym? I'm glad you weren't down to long with the induction flu. Isn't it wonderful having all that energy. What's even better is not needing that much sleep. I hit the floor running when I do this version.

Do you eat cream cheese? The rolls, in the "72" Atkins book is made with cottage cheese, do you make these, I was going to try them with cream cheese, plus there is a cheese cake muffin people talk about did you ever have these.

I have been low carb. since 12-1-06, I'm a really slow losser only 15 lbs down so far. I can go for 2 weeks and not loss anything not even inches. My stickes are Med. pink never dark purple and I eat only 5 carbs or less a day.

Today: 1 fried egg, steak, 2 HB eggs, 2 slices lean ham, can of tuna in water 1 TBS. mayo, 2 pork chops, alot of water, can diet soda.

I don't do green

No I don't eat cottage cheese or cream cheese. Only natural cheese (with wax around it).

Looking at what you are eating - I can't believe you aren't losing faster. Unless you are retaining fluid.... How much cottage cheese and cream cheese are you eating?

Cheryl,
I was thinking about that just this morning when I had a couple friends sleep over - I practically lept out of bed at 8:30 and they both pulled the covers over their heads, made some cranky comments, and went back to sleep. I don't even "need" coffee anymore.

I have a question- today was day 10 and by about 4pm I was exhausted!
I havent eaten anything but strict induction since day 1, so I wonder if my body ran out of fuel and is switching over to burning fat? Anybody else have this happen? I have had alot of energy so this was very different.

Thanks
Bella

I know what you mean - isn't it fun? I remember last June - I was out walking at 4AM. I took a flash light - and because no one was out I could put on old clothes, not fix my hair or put make-up on. It was GREAT! Then I would come home - have coffee - jump in the shower. I was ready for the day by 6AM.... wondering what to do next!

The only time your body will run out of fuel is when you have no more fat... tee hee. You started ketosis by day 3 - and you started burning fat when all that sugar was not available because you weren't eating it anymore. You were detoxed by then unless you cheated and I know you haven't. Maybe it was just one of those days ..... are you remembering to take your vitamins/mineral capsule?

I'm so proud of you that you've stayed on plan. Are your clothes, rings, shoes getting any looser?

myself a little respite as Ive worked out 4 days this week

Bella: WAY TO GO MY FRIEND! I am sooooo happy for you. What an inspiration you are - I just am clapping with excitement.

Please make sure you are taking a vitamin with minerals. You are eliminating food groups that have minerals during this period. I use to take Myadec(sp?) - brown capsule - one per day.

Keep up the tremendous job you are doing....

Hi ladies!

I was hoping I couldp post a quick menu and see what you think. TOday is day 3 for me...I haven't made it to day 3 in months and months and months. I am so excited! I did decide to increase my calories a bit b/c I've had that deep deep hunger today. I started exercizing last night and I think I need a bit more food to make a difference.

Well, enough rambling. Here it is!

B: 2 eggs, 2 slices of nitrate free/low sodium bacon
S: tea w/ 1 tbsp of cream
L: salad w/ blue cheese 2 tbsp and grilled chicken
S: 3/4 ounce of cheddar cheese, 1 egg w/ 2 tsp of mayo (I was really hungry here!
D: 5 oz. steak grilled w/ 1 tbsp of olive oil, small salad w/ olive oil/vinegar dressing

Today my cals were 1500. I'm at 74% fat, 25% protein and 5% carbs

Thoughts? I know the fat might be a bit heavy though I'm worried about having too much protein...that doesn't work well with my body at all!

Any response would be so wonderful!!!

Jenn: Your menu looks perfect. Remember that with exercise - it increases insulin and insulin increases appetite.

Bella: Why don't you just take a great multi-vitamin/mineral capsule or is there a reason you are taking all individual pills? Please educate me - I need all the help I can get .... tee hee.

Again, girls, you are both doing so well and I am so proud of you!

I don't eat cottage cheese, I have made one or two cream cheese jello cakes, from Linda's Low Carb. site. I would only have one serving a day that was like 3 carbs. Have not made that in the last 2 weeks.

Put yes I retain water, today my ankles are swollen to the point you can see my my sock inprint, sometimes my shoes can be to tight.

If I have bacon it's the low sodium kind. Do you eat bacon, or process meats like sauasge, hot dogs...

Carol: Are you drinking enough liquids. A lot of times a sign of water retention is that your body is trying to hold on to liquids because it is dehydrated. I'll try to find the article regarding that.

I eat Ballpark franks - only 2 a day is allowed. I also eat Genoa Salami. I'm not much of a lunch meat eater.

Please Carol - don't despair. Try to get rid of the water retention. Have you tried SF Nestea ice tea - that sure makes me run to the bathroom. Also are you constipated? I am sure once you get this problem solved - you will definitely see a drop on the scale.

Ok - now it makes sense..... I can see why you want to finish what you have. Why not get a good multi-v/mineral this weekend and then you can supplement what you have left with this 1 good vitamin. It is important that you get some minerals.

Have a great weekend and I am encouraged to know that I won't have to worry about you this weekend. I know you are going to keep on track....

Cheryl thank you for your thoughts on my menu...I"m so worried that I'm not getting things right. I so badly want to start losing weight!

Can I ask you another quick question? About when did you start to notice a difference in clothing? I"m just wondering when I should start paying attention to how my clothes feel and if I'm losing any inches. If things aren't happening when they should, I want to know when to start changing things if necessary.

Ideas?

Bella, congrats on such a tremendous loss this last week! May I ask, how are you clothes fitting? have you already noticed a change in your body? Way to go!
