I have also read this everywhere, and I am just starting this diet as well..From what I can gather is a person that goes off this diet, doesnt keep any of the new eating habits and starts eating all the carbs again, which would result in gain. anyone can correct me if I am wrong, like I said I have been reading, but may understand it differently. A person after induction is suppose to start adding carbs each level.. Once your at your goal weight , you go the next level, and if you start gaining, you go back one level and stay there. It sounds like it is a lot of determination and willpower, plus just realizing what you can eat and what you cant. If I am wrong, please correct me.. But I do hope this helps. |

I was 183# last March 2006 - at age 60. I then got down to 126# by September 2006. All this took place last year. I have been fluctuating every since - this maintenance is very difficult. So you can do this - age has nothing to do with losing weight! If I can do it - anyone can!

As long as you keep the coke diet - you should have no problem. Now maybe with some people alcohol stalls them - but not with me. I don't drink every day - just maybe one or two on the weekend. Tonight we are going out for dinner so I'll have one brandy/coke. |

Good morning everyone, well I am on day 6 of induction and as of yesterday am in deep ketosis according to the stix.. I wasnt beige once.. So I must be doing something right, even though I know I over indulged on cheese yesterday and that dang bacon.. Looks like none of it hurt me.I am still doing my workouts, so I hope that speeds up the process.. and drinking lots of water!!! I went out yesterday and it was amazing.. First thing someone said to me.. are you losing weight?? I must have lost it in my face or something, cuz everything still fits exactly the same. Anyhow.. Hope to see what happens the next week...

Great news - especially on the dark purple sticks...... Don't you feel energized? I always needed far less sleep when I was on my WOE strictly.... You just can't believe it.
Keep up the good work and before you know it - you will really start noticing the loss in relation to your clothes. Hey your shoes will even get too big! |

the one thing i am noticing that I would like to know if it is normal.. I feel kinda naseous..(sp). I forced myself to eat 2 eggs this morning just to have something.. but i feel kinda yucky ev en after eating. And personally if I get a taste of something that doesnt taste or feel just right i hav e a hard time eating it..lol.. so some of my egg went to the trash. but I ate pretty much all of it. What do you do if you feel that way?

That means you are definitely in Ketosis. Enjoy!!!! What I do is not eat much. In fact my DH has to force me to eat. Maybe eggs are doing that to you. I just know that I have no appetite and that is very normal. Find something that doesn't turn your stomach...... |

Hi All!
I just stated Atkins again and I have a question: what kind of dressing are you using on the '72 plan? And olives? Thanks! Bella |

Good morning! Well I am one week down on induction, so I imagine I will need to start reading what to eat after induction... or what I can add.. How long can you stay on induction? Or does it do any good? I started this diet weighing 174 and this morning was 168... I imagine mostly water.. plus i am doing my exercises still, so i imagine the weight of the muscle is going to start flexuating the scale a bit. i will just have to put the scale away and not look at it..lol. Anyhow induction hasnt been too bad. My sticks are constantly purple now, so I must be in full ketosis. I even started cutting my coffee intake back. I was at at three cups in the morning, now I am down to 1 cup in the morning a nd dont have to have the cream or sugar.. I consider the cream a treat if I have it. Im finding it harder to make sure i am eating enough carbs lately.. so the cream helps.. but I have at least two salads to kinda help out.. Anyhow thanks everyone for the support and advice!! I couldnt ha ve made it this first week without all of you.. Im so easily discouraged, that if I cant talk to anyone I wouldve likely given up!! Again Thank you!!!

Congratulations
You can stay on induction as long as you want..... the longer you stay on it the faster you will lose! The lower you keep your carbs - the faster you will see results. Good luck to you and keep posting. Remember - keep off the scale if you can. Go by how your clothes are fitting. As long as those sticks are purple -you are doing great. ![]() |

I kept my carbs below 20 a day..... basically Dr. A's '72 - just meat/eggs/2C of lettuce day, etc.

I did NOT climb the carb ladder. The doc wanted me to stay on induction until I got to goal.

Cheryl,
You are such an inspiration! (I'm not sure why it took me so long to jump in, I've been lurking.) I have 52 pounds to lose by my birthday and so this weekend I am going to start Atkins 72 and stay on Induction until I reach my goal, and then add in the 5 grams per week with vegetables. |

Wow, thanks for your posts! I think I will add in some vegies this week such as brocolli every other day. Did you not eat anything unless it was on the first week induction list?

I did have about 20 cashews at night for something crunchy. I also made the cheese crackers in the microwave. Let's just say I got very inventive. |

Oh yes - by your birthday you can certainly get down to your goal weight. Hey I just noticed we are the same height! Good luck and any more questions - just let me know. You'll be surprised as how much your appetite will decrease and the weight will just fall off of you.

So Cheryl.....Thanks for answering questions! I wondered how many carbs do you think you ate during your weight loss? Right now I am in week 2 of induction Atkins 72, being very strict and sticking to the plan. Next week I would like to add a veggie such as spinach or broccoli to my evening meal.
What do you think? Bella |

I ate mostly protein - so very very little carbs - well below 20. You could add some spinach in and for the next three days check to see if it was detremental to your loss. It might now show up on the scale for three days though. On the other hand - you might be able to tolerate it just fine.

Thanks much....I think I will wait until week 3 and then test out the spinach. I did look at Trader Joe's frozen and it was 2 carbs per cup, 2 fiber. So that sounds pretty yummy !

Hi all!
I've been looking in to Atkins 72 lately. I am trying to figure out the best plan I can do that is still healthy and will allow me to exercise relatively vigorously. I don't want to keep my calories too low so I'm hoping this version of Atkins will still work for me! What do you think of this menu: Cheryl, I would love you advice since you lost such significant weight following this plan. B: 1 hard boiled egg (having a VERY hard time with eggs, almost lost it when I ate this, any thoughts on what to do about that?) S: 3/4 ounce of cheddar L: 1 chicken leg w/skin, small salad w/ 1.5 tbsp of blue cheese dressing S: 3 chunks of chicken breast with 1/4 tbsp of mayo (I was sooo hungry and couldn't find another legal snack) D: 5 oz. of flank steak, lean w/ 1 tbsp of olive oil, small salad w/ vinegar dressing Thoughts? This is my first day so I really want to make this work!

Jenn: It sure looks good to me.... don't worry about calories. I know what you mean about eggs ---- I have a difficult time as well. How about making an omlet and putting in some ham/cheese/very small amount of onion? Also you could make some deviled eggs and put in a small amount of mayo/dab of french dressing/horseradish.
Otherwise - you are doing well! Don't forget your multi-vitamin/minerals ..... VERY IMPORTANT! |
