ok here is me. today at dhs office. Down to 143 this morn. Still a ways to go. But doing it. Let me know if you all want to see a heavy pic of me from about five yrs ago at my heaviest. I will post it. Its taken me so long to get here. I am in a size 10 petite, although the jeans I have on are 12 petites. I just have to keep at it daily. It can be done.

Hi Bella
I am still stuck between 145 then down to 142, then up to 144, then down to 143. LOL This is how it has been for some time now. My fault probably. Yesterday ate chinese.

I know better. On plan today, and riding my stationary bike all over the states.

How are you? How was your trip, and do you have pics?

The 1972 version is what I have. I also have the newer book, but the original is just so fabulous! I know this is an old thread, but it is new to me as I just joined lol I just wanted to say that I love that book, and my copy is very well worn from all the reads I have given it. I bought it years ago for a quarter at a yardsale, but after I read it, I know I would have paid so much more. I have followed it ever since. I bought the newer version out of curiosity, but I still find my original so much more impacting to me for some reason. I could read it over and over, and have.
Thanks for having this forum, I never knew there were any until recently, and I am so happy to have found you Thank you

Greetings!

I am new to LCF. I have been dieting since Jan. 1 of this year.
I have lost 81 lbs to date. I still have 42 left to lose.
I started with my own version of calorie counting. VERY low in cal,
mostly under 800. lost 46 by June. Then I found ******* and lost 35 more.
Now i want to make a change and want to do Atkins 72. I was on New Atkins about 10 yrs ago and it did not seem to work for me at the time.

SOOOOOO, any advice would be helpful. I am looking for a copy of the book, but in the meantime I'll do what I can. I do have one question.......... the post I go tmost of my info from did not mention nuts that I could see. Can buts be eaten on A72?

Thanks for any input,
Nessy

Hi Nessy and welcome!

It depends where you are on the carb ladder with Atkins 72. Perhaps you can post
a menu and we can give you some feedback?

Also why did you decide to switch? I used a modified Atkins/******* and am now on maintenance (Atkins).

Congrats on your losses!

Just a quick FYI. I have been able to find the '72 Atkins Diet books in thrift stores. Have seen many, in fact. Less than a dollar also.

72 book

Hello, I was low carbing before lost 50 lbs and gained almost all bac. I found the book on
Alibris online. I just ordered the 1972 book and will get it anyday now. I found that this thread is very inspiring. In a week I lost 4.5 lbs. Do I check the thread every day to see what's new?

Hi Everyone, I've been reading your thread, and found it really interesting, I never knew there was a difference between the two Atkins... I've only done the New Program.

I was wondering for anyone who has done both, did you notice a weight loss difference with one or the other, was one faster?

Definitely faster on the original Atkins. (72) No faux foods, total carb count and
just the basics!

Differences?

Could someone just give me a quick synopsis of the differences? I do have BOTH books and I can't pinpoint the differences, except I don't even remember any carbs (except cheese & cream >2 usually)
I know..."read the book", I'm just lazy and sometimes a real person can get right to the nitty gritty!
Thanks!
