My ****** stats for yesterday:

Cal 1040
Fat 63
Carbs 9
Protein 104

High in carbs because I ate steamed brocoli instead of salad.
I thought the best choice at the time.

I'd like to lower calories. . .but it is tough!

I am sooooo proud of you! You are definitely on a "roll" and I don't mean that literally.

Now get ready for planning Easter. I remember last year I made up two large easter baskets and didn't have one piece of candy. I was sooooo proud of myself. So it can be done.

You are such an inspiration. I can hardly wait for some progress pics. I sure hope you are taking them as you are traveling through this weightloss.

I have a question for you ladies. I've been doing Atkins 72 for several weeks but because of constipation, have been taking psillium husks every day (1 tablespoon with lots of water) and am wondering if that could be slowing down my loss? Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

Hi Sue,
Im using MoM at night, 1/2 dose and it works. I have heard that adding fiber can slow your loss down, and also it didnt really work for me anyway!

I lost 20 in 4 weeks on Atkins 72 plan. You could look at the induction
list at the top of this thread and use it for your plan.

Good luck!

I use MoM (Milk of Magnesia) if I'm 'plugged up'. If I don't have MoM, upping my magnesium to 500mg also helps.

Psyllium, or any kind of fiber therapy tends to make me bloat/gain.

Be VERY careful of the magnesium. I was upping magnesium and it led to really low blood pressure - pounding in my chest, etc. The druggist told me that they use mega doses of magnesium for heart attack patients to lower the blood pressure while having an attack. He told me that I could have died from taking that much. As soon as I stopped - eventually all the horrible symtpoms disappeared. I won't touch that stuff anymore. It sure scared me!
Just be careful.....

Wow - Bella - down 30# Good for you my friend.

No I was talking about Magnesium supplements. Angie66 was saying that if she didn't have any MOM she was going to up her magnesium. Maybe she meant some other kind of magnesium.

You have to forgive me - I'm having memory problems

Hi Gang..just my input. Diet tea, epsom salts. Cant take either. I thought I was going to pass out last week. I had a cup of diet tea. OH MY WORD. It was horrible. I was fine the next day. I figured it was my B/P also. Now epsom salts I had tried them a few months ago. Does the same thing. MOM. Not sure. I was wondering if there was sugar in that??? Anyone know? Thanks.

Hi Sheila

I buy the caplets which are sugar free. They are each 500mg of magnesia
and 2 at bedtime do the trick for me the next morning

I know we are all different. . .and for me the very LC diet causes the opposite bathroom issues. . .(which I guess is better, but I gotta stay close to the bathroom!) This has been true for me back on protein fasts and very low carb diets over the past 26 years for me. . .

I'm best when I use a lot of fiber--flax, oat fiber, but then depending on which,--like oatmeal, I get hungry. . .So no easy answers. And slow or no weight loss either.

Thanks for the warning, Cheryl! I didn't know that magnesium could cause dangerously low blood pressure. I usually take it balanced with potassium and calcium and haven't had any problems...yet. Any ideas on how much magnesium equals a 'safe' dosage? Or better yet, how much is too much?

I know I was taking three a day - and I'm sure they were higher mg. If you are only taking one per day - I'm sure that's fine - especially if you have no symtoms of over doing it. Because of my experience - I three the entire bottle away. I thought I was dying - racing heart, pounding in my chest, very very low BP .... and I even had to sit on the toilet seat to put my make-up on. It was horrible.

Hey great news on the weight loss. By Summer you will look HOT !

Oh boy did I do a doozy on atkins 72. I'll share just incase it helps anyone else. I started the basically no carb on march 2(lost 5 lbs). I was getting alot of muscle pain, tingling fingers , my heart beat was funky and felt exhausted. I went in to see the dr today. I was very low on potasium and vit b. It seems the meds I'm on block some b absorption and the very beginning of atkins 72 is very low on potassium. Remedy is bumping carbs up to about 30 ,potassium and getting shots of b.

I have no clue if this could happen to anyone else but I wanted to share just incase.

Kinda scared me!

Sounds like using MoM is the safest bet where a constipation remedy is concerned. Thankfully, I only need something like that about once a month. As long as I keep my water intake high and get at least one salad a day, everything is 'smooth going'.

Where magnesium and such are concerned, I'll continue with my current dosages of minerals since I haven't had any problems. Since starting with this woe and supplementation, I feel better than I have in months!

okay gang, I am up three pounds since last week, no change in diet... go figure...

philips mom..ok, the lady sold my husband philips magnesium tablets. 500 mg in each? or srv? but i took two, and it took three days to work on me. I eat salads and i drink water, but NOTHING seems to move me like i should move .
I dont think that philips mom is same as the plain magnes. tablets. Not real sure though and I do not want to take too many. Until I know for sure. LOl. I do not want to repeat that yucky feeling.

I take 3-4 of the tabltes if I am blocked up- that should work! And yes, they are 500mg each. Usually I take 2 at bedtime.

Sheila, do you drink coffee? Two large mugs of strong-ish coffee every day keeps me regular. I drink regular, so I don't know if decaf would do the same thing or not. The first time I did Atkins a few years ago, I didn't drink coffee and usually only *went* about every three days. It didn't bother me then, because it was such a nice turnaround from the opposite problem I'd had for years while eating junk. But now I seem to have found a balance that keeps me just right in that area.

Hope you find something that helps!
