Bella (not stalking you, really) don't know if you were replying to Juicy or to me or both, but truly I am at a loss. The most carbs I could have had in the past 2 days is 10 each day.

The whole point of induction is to start the weight loss. I know it works as I have done it before. So, since I should be well on my way to weight loss, I am right now.

I guess I'll see what happens over the long weekend.

Hi Fifi,

Yes, I was responding to your post

Are you tracking your calories? I know the original plan says you
dont have to, but the later book says too many can stall you.

Hey, Bella. Thanks! I have only been guesstimating since I am really not eating very much. I would say I was at 1000 calories yesterday, for instance. Fitday would be a better way to go - you're right.

Over this weekend I will track everything in a little diary (I'm not online at home yet because I just moved). I will also stay away from the scale until Tuesday, and then have my big reveal after the alarm clock goes off Tuesday morning. LOL

Fingers crossed!!!!

Have a wonderful long-weekend everyone!! Happy low-carbing!!

Fifi: I just know the weight is going to start falling off. Drink a lot of liquids (legal). In my case - I DO NOT eat if I'm not hungry. I know the doc told me to eat 5-6 small mini-protein meals per day - but OMG there is no way I could do that. I'm just not hungry.

Please make a pledge you will stay on this through memorial day weekend and post your weight on Tuesday. Also check fitday to see if there are any hidden carbs in what you are eating. It HAS to come off --- you are doing everything right...

Hey Bella - love the new top ..... don't forget to take pic of you wearing it.

Well got on the scale this morning and gained .5# I hate those digital scales So now am 142.8# instead of 142.3#. I knew that would happen - a person can't lose every day .....

Will be making a taco salad for memorial day - as it's too hot down here to eat a heavy meal. I was going to BBQ - but figured the salad is legal and lighter.

So hang in there everyone ..... and enjoy your first day of the 3 day weekend.

Bella: How appropriate - 60# for a 60th birthday! I'm soooo proud of you and I'll bet your DH is as well! Now what special outfit are you wearing to celebrate his birthday? Don't forget your camera.

Hi everyone

This thread is so inspiring.

Congratulations Bella on 60lbs down what an achievement

I have been reading the thread with interest and realise I am pretty much doing this plan. I started about a week and a half ago and have so far lost
8lbs.

My goal is to lose 30lbs in total so I am already 25% of the way there

I really want to try and lose 22lbs in the next 5 weeks more if its humanly possible.

My food sounds very boring compared to everyone else but it works for me and I am a pretty plain eater.

My days food is usually

b - 2 boiled eggs
l - meat/chicken & half cup or so of veggies like cabbage, green beans, caulifloer
d - same as lunch
If i feel like it I will have a sugar free jello

Does this seem ok ? I also drink loads of green tea and water - about 3 - 4 litres a day.

Welcome Nomiii: Your menu looks great ..... you tend to be like me, I'm a pretty boring eater. I will make up a beef roast and eat on that all week with just one/half cup of some veggie or a small salad. I'm not a breakfast eater and will just grab some meat for lunch. sometimes I wil make up some deviled eggs and grab one or two halves along with some pre-cooked bacon cold.

If you keep at it - I don't see why you can't lose those extra pounds in the next five weeks.

Keep us posted on your progress and have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Of course I have had a heck of a time deciding what to wear! I bought this delicious Eileen Fisher India Sky (blue) Linen shirt, its long and has an Eastern feel to it. But I also bought (see below) the cutest Chicos top in a black and white pattern that is so bold I cant believe I am wearing it! It crosses the front and ties! I realized I always chose clothes to hide my weight.... So, I decided to wear the cute top and a pair of sleek black pants with my also new Aravon Monica sandals.
Have you seen them in Yoga journal? They have them at the boulder running company online and they are SO cute too!

Anyway, Im having just too much fun!

Bella:

I absolutely love some of the clothes at Chicos...... Sooooo appropriate and smart looking - especially for my age. I've never seen the sandals you are referring to.

I hope you have a wonderful celebration. You deserve it and I'm sure your DH is so happy to parade you in front of all your friends.... Just enjoy!

HELLO LADIES,
I have decided to do Atkins 72 after reading of Bella's success. I hope you guys dont mind if I join. I reinducted on April 10, 2007. For the last 2-3 weeks the scale has been yo-yoing from 244 to 241. I am sooo frustrated. I am working out for 30 mins- 1 hr per day. I am seriously giving Atkins 72 14 days. I will post my menu everyday and I would appreciate your suggestions,.

Good morning everyone

I am in Australia by the way

Someone please tell me I am crazy - got up on the scales today and they were up half a pound.
I know I probably shouldnt weight daily but I just can't help myself.
I shouldn't let this get to me - there is no way I have gained weight.

Mixed things up this morning cooked up a lamb chop for breakfast - just didnt want eggs this morning. Now onto my 3rd cup of green tea.

Have a great day everyone.

NOTE* This is from the book, Bantam edition / September 1972 paperback...

Not sixty grams of carbohydrate on this diet but zero grams

Salads: Two small green salads a day (each less than one cupful, loosely packed) made only of leafy greens, celery, or cucumbers and radishes. Dressings with vinegar, oil, salt, dry spices, herbs, grated cheese, or anchovies. Or else a sour pickle in place of a salad. Plus… green olives.

Im confused here, it says zero grams of carbs but shouldnt these greens count as carbs?

Bella,
Wow, you look beautiful and everyone is stunning together. I pray you had a wonderful time...it sure looked like you did!

Butt3rfly,
I have just finished reading '72 for the first time...will go back and read it again...sure I missed a ton...plus the print/font is very small...so a difficult read if you are over 40 and not ready to admit to needing glasses

Anyhow...they way he explains the small amount of salad away as 0 carbs is:
he mentions that compared to where everyone was coming from food wise, the small amount of carbs paired with the fiber was a "virtual" 0. I may be totally reading into that, as I have already read his newer books explaining the "net" carb idea. I don't blame you for being confused...it is not clear to me yet.

Hugs and Welcome!

GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY AND THEIR FAMILIES!

Hi Everyone,Cheryl,I was wondering if you are aiming for a weight that is too low.For your height.I know how hard it is to get to a certain weight you can't maintain or ever get to again. Two summers ago I got to 119lbs,lbs ,could not maintain it or ever get there again.I decided that I could maintain 130 to 135 and still have a life. And still feel pretty good about it.I am 5.4 inches and 44 years old and have been doing atkins for 8 years. Your 72 version has really put me back on track and help me loose 10 pounds.Post a new picture,I am sure you look great.
