I'm new to the Low Carb Lifestyle, so forgive me if this seems like a silly question....but what is the difference between this way (72) and the regular way? They seem the same to me. Whichever one works the fastest is the one I want to do though!

I am off to Scotland for the next two weeks. I will be at my DBF house. I have explained what I am doing. He said he is 15 stone and needs to get some off. I said great we can do two weeks induction together. He is all for this. I am so excited. SO I hope to post a loss when I get back to my scales in two weeks time. I can still check in but I only weigh on my scales. I was down another 3/4 lb today. I was so glad. I had a diet drink yesterday and I don't think the sweetner they use her in the UK agrees with me. I use the Keto sticks only for motivation. After the drink late in the evening it didn't turn. I had no carbs all day. So..that worried me. I thought great I will show a huge gain. But I didn't. But I still think I will drop them.

Hi, everyone! Today is Day 2 for me following Cheryl's plan (THANK YOU)!
I don't know why I have had such trouble this month, I started out with such good intentions...but didn't follow through. Just need to get my head in the game... For some reason I was at 147 last week, but yesterday 150. Not going to worry too much about it...just move forward. I have read through almost all the posts in this thread and they are very motivating! I hope I can stick to it, as well. ![]() |

Went out for dinner last night and man oh man did it not agree with me!
I have been eating at this local mexican restaurant for about 15 years, and when on low carb I order the quesadilla without sour cream which has beef, salsa and a little guacamole. I avoid, oc, the tortillas! So 2 weeks ago when I got home my stomach felt pretty bad, kindof achey and it was like that until the wee hours of the morning. Last night I though to try it again and the same thing happened only worse and my stomach HURT for hours! The only thing I can think of is that it was the oil they used for the beef. I didnt detect any sugar, but it was kindof greasy and since I have been eating SO well and organically, well, I guess Im not going to eat there anymore ![]() Has anyone else ever had this kind of thing happen? So back to a very clean and lean day of eating today. Bella

michigan-girl, I believe the answer to that is "no" - instead use heavy cream in your coffee. The non-dairy creamer has sugar in it and also it's made with transfats which are not healthy. I used to love the non-dairy in my coffee too and when I switched to heavy cream I needed to add a pinch of Splenda to it to make it taste the same.
Congratulations CosmicMuffin! You're doing good! And have fun in Scotland, sounds like a great trip. Nice that your BF is willing to follow Induction with you, makes a big difference when you're on the same track! Don't be surprised when his weight just melts off though, men lose really fast on this plan, faster than us women I think (usually). WatchYourElbows, I am thinking that the biggest difference in the '72 program and the later versions of Atkins is that it's bare-bones and basic. The later plans added in things like the shakes and the bars and also began subtracting fiber grams for a net carb daily total. I'm sure some of the other members here could elaborate more on that question. teescomp, which cheesecake recipe did you want from the book? There are 2 recipes in the Diet Revolution book. The one on page 240 is the one with cream cheese, and the one on page 246 is the one with cottage cheese (or pot cheese).

newbie
Hi, all
I'm new to this. I've been looking at the post for about a week now. I started doing the no/low carbs about a week 1/2 ago. I didn't realize that it was regular Atkins until I found this site. I actually started trying to lose weight about a month ago, but I just couldn't get with the program. I tried the Master Cleanse, but that lasted for about a week. I'm stationed in Germany so it's was pretty hard to keep up with that. Reality about my weight struck me when I took my PT test and was weighed a couple of weeks ago. The army is using a new "tape" system for the females and this is the first time that I have ever felled it. It really put me in a bad funk Anyhow, so far I've been doing pretty good on the Atkins '72. I ordered a book and hopefully it gets here by next week. I think I paid $6 for it. I'm actually suprised by the amount of 0 carb foods that I have found in the commisaries and stuff. My lifesaver is the fat free/0 sugar jell-o. Whenever I get a sugar craving or just need a little snack, I crab a cup. I think I overdo it on the cheese sometimes, but I only buy the kind that has 0 carbs listed on the back..I hope that it's not a misread. I finding myself not being hungry now. I drive trucks and my peers make fun of me sometimes because I'll bring a ziploc bag with some diet soda, tuna, jell-o, maybe some 0 carb beef sticks, etc. Sorry for the long post. My weight goal is 140lb. Hope I make it ![]() |

Welcome prtybrneyes, it sounds like you are doing it right! Have you lost anything since you started? I need to make some of that Jello, I forgot about it, I think it will help the boredom. I'm never hungry either, I love that about this program. Good luck!

Thank you. I've lost 5lbs since I started. You can get the jell-o premade also. I think I might start making it myself too though. Will save on money.

Hi - I am into day three and weighed myself today - no loss yet. I am wondering if it could be that I have a pretty bad cold that perhaps I am retaining fluids or something? Any insight would be appreciated.
Otherwise, I am finding following the plan pretty easy. I have started to say little daily mantras to keep my mind in it, too. I am trying something new - chicken broth for lunch today. Hopefully I'll find it enjoyable so I can add it to my menu. I don't want to get bored with my food selection. |

Hi everyone, I'm still doing "Cheryl's Plan." Of course I have a problem when I drink, but didn't do too badly at all. Unfortunately I had to go out of town as my ex BIL passed away and my family wanted me to come down. I did, fell off for the day, but managed to get back on (a little messy but on) Monday. So, right now I have 2 clean days behind me. I am trying desparately not to get on the scale, so I'm trying just measuring my waist line in the morning. I'll be happy if I can stay off the scale until Saturday...hope it doesn't lure me in and I have to jump on
![]() Cheryl, your doctor diet is making the rounds. I send it to everyone. I think it's great and quite liveable. My DH lost 3 pounds in a week - which is great for him because he does not exercise and still insists on having some type of drink every night or so. I did manage to stop him from wine, so now it's scotch! Guess this program will cost us more money ![]() I'm pretty excited Publix has Prime Rib on sale....the perfect meal for us. Take care. Everyone is soooo motivating. Thank you all for taking the time to post. Toby

I am in Scotland the next two weeks. But doing my best to keep on plan. I might have more carbs but I won't go over 20. I had cream cheese tonight. I always worry when I eat that. Hard cheese is not a problem.

Hi Toby: Glad to hear the "Cheryl plan" is making the rounds. I wish I could take credit for it. It sure is a lot harder than Atkins ..... I should say a lot more restrictive but very do-able! I liked the fact I could still go out for an evening on the town and have a few cocktails and I love steak/mushrooms/salad/broth.
Glad he switched from beer to scotch .... no carbs in that. Remember - every time you cheat you lose 3 days ..... and I am sure that one cheat is not worth 3 DAYS. My doctor told me to only weigh myself once a month at his office. He said it can really be discouraging if you have fluctuations. Keep me posted on your progress. I hope your friends are also successful. ![]()

Michigan: How badly did you mess up at the wedding? Just remember that everytime you "mess up" you lose 3 days - so that once cheat set you back. Don't get discouraged! Keep at it - and please try not to cheat...

Bella: That is sooooo true. You have to just keep your eye on the target and for me that was only the next 5# increment..... otherwise you can get discouraged. My DH was the one that suggested the smaller increments. I was also diligent in posting on the spreadsheet. You would not believe how many times I have referred back to that sheet.
You are such an inspiration to all of us - and you are tireless in trying to help others. What a great gal you are!!!! Hey - another question - in planning for the Easter dinner what do you all suggest as a menu? I know we have to cook stuff for our guests but what are you planning on consuming? |
