Keep up the good work! You will be so thankful you did this. For me I quit cold turkey. I will be honest -the first 3 months were hard...but after that I finally got through a day without thinking about it. It is so freeing....it is amazing. You will feel so much better and not be tied to an addcition. You can do this! Good luck- you are doing great.

Way to go Cindy!

Congrats! You can do it--it's not really that hard. You will feel an emptiness for a short while and it seems like hunger, but it's not hunger, it's the loss of your best friends the cigs. Don't feed it donuts, just recognize it, nod to it, and sip water or very watered down fruit juice from a straw. Coffee or tea or whatever works too, but probably not sugary things. The point is to recognize it's not hunger, it's sadness for your ciggy friends, and it goes away soon. Believe me, you won't miss them, and you'll be glad (and have more money!).

I will attest to what catsup said about more money. I have one of those nifty SilkQuit meters that works in the background and it says that, in the 16 years since I quit smoking I have saved $22,000. That's based on $5/pack.

I am so happy to report that it has been 18 days since I quit cold turkey....I feel great.
22catsup....I do feel empty at times and I have been feeding it...thanks for the advice. That's a lot of money saved RyeBaby Ive just saved over $100....I don't know how I did it to afford those nasty things. I smoked a pack a day....about $5.75 per pack.....that was a priority back then though...as long as I had my money for my cigs.....how dumb right??? The other day I was able to buy something I had wanted to for awhile...and it felt great not having to think .....I have to save money for my cigarettes....its liberating... I no longer constantly think about if im going to have enough money for cigarettes. Now I have extra money....I don't know what to do with so I treated myself with no guilt....its wonderful..... Thank you everyone for your kind words of encouragement....it really really helps.....
Cynthia

Congrats on 32 days smoke free. that's fantastic. I know all about the weight gain that happens. I gained 30 lbs in 2 yrs. I'm sure some of your 12 lbs is water weight. You're doing great. KUTGW.
