Back to Adkins

My failure last time with Adkins was because of alcohol. I didn't lose weight even though I followed the plan but......
I have between 2-3 stiff drinks a night between 4 pm and 7 pm. I don't drink any other time but I know I have a true problem. So, tomorrow I start the program again and I know I have to eliminate all ETCH out of my diet.
It started 10 years ago...just to relax after work. Then, it was to help me sleep at night due to insomnia. I just need to stop!!!
I'm hoping this board will help me.

good luck radian....take it one step at a time. Even if you go down to one drink at a time. I do not drink during the week but have been known to drink 3 or 4 glasses of wine on Saturday night and I would wake up sunday feeling yucky and then I would crave, crave, crave sweet. The alchohol really messed with my blood suguar. I now limit myself to just 2 glasses of red wine on Saturday night and it has really helped. If I can help you through your journey let me know. I am new to all this but this low carb thing is the way to go I believe. Just two weeks and I have not binged on food or my Saturday night wine. Kinda of strange but with the low carb thing I have really reduced my cravings! Best of luck to you!

One day at a time, patience, and you will succeed. I tend towards baby-steps approach. Try gradually taking out one drink and replace it with a good lc snack...Alcohol is like sugar to some of us, and we get into a circle of feeling low and using the alcohol or sugar treat to bring back our energy. As you do lc faithfully, you might notice that the need for alcohol will decrease as the wholesome food feeds your body's needs.:) It's worth the try.:welcome:

it can be done. I used to drink WAY too much wine, mostly very late at night. I just lost the taste for it and now I don't drink alcohol more than a few times a year. good luck *hug*

I used to drink wine regularly, but after years of being low carb (and cutting waaaay back on drinking) my body doesn't process alcohol very well anymore. It's weird but it sure makes staying away from alcohol easier because one glass of wine has me feeling headachy and nauseous. My body handles sugar the same way - I get a hangover from sugar!
