welcome itsmejessica! It's tough when the stuff is in the house, that's for sure. I keep thinking that if I have a few days under my belt I'll continue being AF, but I can't get that first day in.. DH isn't willing to ditch the red wine (I like white) and I can't force him! We've been staying away from hard stuff, and that is hard in itself.. oh well... like Scarlett O'hara said in Gone With The Wind, there's always tomorrow.. I'll deal with it tomorrow..

Anyway, I get it - when it's the middle of winter (I also live in a cold area), we have a tendency to have SAD and just want to eat and drink the blues away... sigh...

And, a happy Monday to everyone else. A new week can be a fresh start if we want it to be! Personally, I stuck with smaller amounts of homemade wine coolers all last week and didn't give in at several occasions when I wanted hard drinks so badly. Today I am going to attempt drinking stevia sweetened lemonade or some fruity drink that Michelle mentioned last week. Although I am trying to eat as clean as I can, I have to pick the worse of two evils. And, I know cutting the booze is better for me. I am REALLY going to give it a go with the lemonade. I am not getting a buzz off the wine anyway, so why have it? It's just a habit that is uncomfortable to break. I have two outside social events this week where I can have some wine, and I'd really like to wait until then.

Have a super day friends!!

Thanks dipgal Yeah, lots of stuff going on and little time with a family and job. I'm used to it though. Your wine coolers sound really refreshing. I don't really drink wine, but I might have to try your recipe some time.

Hope you ladies are having nicer weather than us. It was a high of 4 yesterday with something crazy like -25 below during the night, and only 10 today. I grew up in the cold and snow in northern MN, but it's always hard in January when you are stuck in the house or office 24/7. It makes a person want to drink hot toddies (my basterdized recipe using russian tea mix and lots of whiskey-decidedly not LC)

Making crack-slaw with pork instead of hamburger right now. Hope it tastes okay! Signing out. Have a good evening everyone

Thanks 2f2f and dipgal. I didn't drink last night. So I'm happy about that. I think its good to just to make an effort for me. I could drink my white wine everyday but as long as i try not to that I'm helping myself.
Dipgal, yeah it is harder when stuffs in the house but I can't use that as an excuse I just run to the store to get eggs or whatever and that wine section starts calling me. That and some cheese.
Made last night and thatgood. I'm glad you all have this thread. Good luck to you all too.

First of all - Snowdancer - what the heck is crack-slaw? Sounds interesting. Well day 3 AF for me, which has been my maximum number of days - it appears I tend to beer on Wednesdays and Saturdays

I'm going to concentrate real hard on not thinking about beer tonight
And hopefuly I can have a 4 day in a roll streak

Well, hope everyone has a HAPPY HUMPDAY! I know this is hard but we can do it.

Well, I'm not trying very hard to be AF... So, I am going to use this as my moderation accountability thread for now. Beating myself up for not being AF (or even trying too hard) will only be counterproductive. I am doing very well with eating and I am definitely sticking with moderation on the wine. If I add consistent exercise to my routine I just know I could lose a pound or two a week with what I am doing. I am feeling better mentally and even my aches and pains (knees and back) seem a little better..

Tonight I have dinner out with the girls, so 1 or 2 glasses of wine will certainly be in order.

Good going 2f2f and itsmejessica and Michelle!!!!!!!

Have a good Wednesday! I AM going to the fitness center... I WANT to go the fitness center..

Judy - You are drinking less than you were so I think that is superb! Have fun on your girls night out tonight! And I agree - glasses of wine are definitely in order!

Hola!
I have to say that reading these posts has really helped. I do need to stop drinking at least for a little while. I have also noticed that I'm good up until I start drinking. Today is my bday and I was planning on doing good(on Stillmans) but as soon as my BF got home and he started with his beer, my wine was calling me. I had one glass which led to 3 and now bday candy!!! I am throwing out whatever isn't gone by tomorrow (my BF and his family are doing a little bday cake/get together thing for me) come Friday this mess I've gotten myself into needs to stop!
My thoughts are with you all

So happy for all of you who are doing so good! I have been not so good this week and basically my little loss of a .2 here and there was sabotaged by drinking Monday and again last night. Up 2 lbs today! Very frustrated with myself. I get sucked in with the snow outside and feeling as though that is a drinking event. Aiming for a AF day today!

Hi everyone!

Ainsley here...glad to see a new thread up and running for those of us that love our booze I wanted to offer some support to you guys. I gave up alcohol for 3 weeks when I was preparing to go away to Hawaii back in October and lost 10 pounds without any effort! (other than following my usual low carb plan)

I am currently doing whole30 which is a strict paleo plan (no dairy, grains, or alcohol) I am on day 4 and forgot how awesome it feels to not drink. I am not an alcoholic by any stretch but I definitely enjoyed my nightly 2 glasses of red wine and of course a few extra's on the weekend. Best part of not drinking for me is way better sleep! No waking at 2 am, no hangovers, clear mind, and overall so much more productive. I have 26 days left on the whole30 program. I know I will have my temptations but I am committed.
I will pop in here to see you guys to check in and offer support too

Hugs, Ainsley xo

Back on day 2 for me again. I ended up drinking Tuesday night. I felt like crap all day yesterday but managed to pour out the rest of the vodka I had. I was like, it's not enough to even do anything so why even waste a day? I feel better this morning.

You guys just don't know how greatful I am for this thread. It makes me feel so much better and I haven't been beating myself up as much when I do slip.

Congratulations to all that have made it atleast 1 day AF, and those who have slowed down, and to those that are trying. Atleast we are all making an effort.

I would like to report that I am now 4 days AF! That is my longest streak!

Alright, I need some input from my fellow drinking friends. I am up another 1.5 today. So that is 3 lbs since Monday. Keep in mind this is a fresh start lowcarbing for me just started on jan 2nd. I have been following atkins induction basically except I have drank about 3-4 days a week. I figure that is slowing my weight loss but seriously??? I only drank Monday and Wednesday this week, I stuck to diet soda and zero carb booze. I didn't not go over board but yes 3-4 drinks those days.i have only lost 5 lbs total which was go e in the first few days but now I'm up so its like nothing. Any thoughts? Is this because I have damaged my body lowcarbing and going off I the past? Also I starting using xylitol, but very little trying to introduce it so maybe a teaspoon a day in coffee. I'm confused if I should reduce fat, increase fat, add some carbs? I know it's just a few lbs but I feel like its these same stupid lbs that I constantly go up and down.

Leaving- it has nothing to do with your food. It's from the alcohol. Even though it was 0 carb, some peoples bodies treat alcohol just like carbs. Not to mention the water weight. You must be like me. If I drink my week is lost. If you stop the booze I bet you will see losses.

Michelle you are probably right. I use to drink 6 or more beers a night. As of today I'm Day 5 AF! Last Friday I weighed 248.5, this morning 245.5.

Ok so back to day 3 for me. I need to put $3 in my jar! I felt so bad yesterday. All I wanted to do was drink. I've been sick and exhausted and just haven't gave a darn. But I didn't. I feel pretty good today.....so far Hopefully I can get through the weekend. Lots of coffee will help with that. I need to go buy some good stuff.

Great job Monica! I'm so proud.

Weekends are the hardest! For me it's like an event. I didn't stop at the package store, but I haven't completely decided not to drink. I know Michelle is probably right if I want results I need to stop. But why is it so damn hard???? I'm thinking to myself well I guess I'll just go to bed then. That us ridiculous I know but that is how. My mind works! I have three days off my goal is to have at least 2 AF. I know it's not enough but baby steps. Thanks for the advice and Monica on your jan 18 goal!

Judy-

I've been hearing about crack-slaw on this forum for years, and never tried it till a few months ago. Turns out its the most awesome, easy recipe, especially good for nights you don't feel like cooking all night. It's basically a lb of hamburger browned, set aside, saute a bag of coleslaw in your favorite oil, season with your favorite flavors, and dig in. It's called crack slaw, cause it's like crack. Once you start eating, it's hard to stop.

Rivera-

Your rescue chihuahua is so cute! I've wanted one for years, but now with a 17 month old, not good timing.

Michelle-HANG IN THERE!

It's Friday, and yes, I'm drinking vodka crystal light. It was the longest week ever. So sick of work. Hoping to win the lottery tomorrow so I can give my 1 day notice. Sigh.....

The sh@t hit the fan last night

Okay, problems abound here... long story short dh and I want out for a fun day at the casino yesterday where we get free drinks. We stuck to wine and had 5 in 5 hours... next thing I know the paramedics are called because dh couldn't get up from the toilet... $110 cab ride home, EMT's, local police and emergency room visit showed nothing wrong. I did a bunch of research today and think it may be alcoholic peripheral neuropathy. I'll be making a neurologist appt for him if he'll let me. I think this is the wake up call of all wake up calls.. He has been in bed all day so we haven't talked but this is a downward spiral that he can't get out of.

As I've said before, my dependency is emotional but I MUST stop so that I can support him... Gotta go, but needed to do a quick vent.

Judy, I hope things get better I'm sorry. Must of been truly scary.
Monica, thanks for the encouragement. Weekends are very hard for me too.I drank Fri and sun,but not to much . But I did drink. New week/day. I did not eat pizza my 19 yr old daughter and her boyfriend came in last night with a big cheesy pepperoni pizza and asked if I wanted a slice. I said no. I made some pepp crisps and ate a chunk of cheese and finished my wine. So that was good.

Thanks everyone.. he seems to be okay..just sore from all the emergency respondents tugging and pulling at him. He doesn't want to see a neurologists. One more incident and I will force him.

I was sick yesterday with a tummy issue and did not eat or drink all day. Tomorrow is a huge day for me- I am doing two two hour presentations about online marketing to local businesses..and to calm my nerves and fall asleep I am having some wine. Excuse for sure! Tomorrow I'll drink to celebrate that it's over. Ugh.

I drank Friday and Sunday so it seems I'm continuing my every other day plan. It's better than where I was at with drinking mostly everyday and not even remembering a day that I didn't drink. Basically I feel like crap after drinking so that helps me get though one day but clearly I have a short memory. New week

I drank a little on Friday, and a whole lot on Saturday Darn weekends!

Nothing Sunday or Yesterday so that is 2 days AF for me.

I do want to report that I have been 100% on food plan since 1/2, so at least that is good news!

Happy Tuesday everyone!
