help me please

I have been off lcf for a year almost and I have a 30 pound weight gain to show for it.

I turn to food for everything, I am depressed, and becoming a seriously morbidly obese health risk.

Please anyone have a thought how to begin again, I am pretty sure, my weight problems are a combo of etiologies. ie emotional eating, candida overgrowth, laziness, depression, history of abuse. And honestly I just dont know where to turn from here.

Anyone, Im losing hope and fading fast! No insurance so cant go to counseling or doctor, etc.
I will listen and try anything.....just need some support

I definitely feel a pull to alcohol when I'm depressed. I have to set very firm limits for myself. What I eat doesnt affect desire of a drink though.

Make a huge change! Change your life in a positive way somehow. Do a 60-mile breast cancer walk, or take a class you've always wanted to, or move somewhere new, or try that new hairstyle you want to try but you're afraid to. Get your passport and a plane ticket to somewhere you want to go.

If money is an issue, then just get a cheap journal or sketch book and some pens and GET OUT OF THE HOUSE RIGHT NOW and find a place you've never been to sit and watch people or watch the sky change color and write and draw - even if it's just in your own back yard.

It sounds to me like you're bored. You need more joy in your life and it's not at the bottom of a box of Cap'n Crunch.

GO FIND YOUR HAPPINESS!

Am I wrong? Maybe. But I know that I have been where you are and I have felt like that and I have wanted to give up, too.

For too many years I waited "to get thin" before I felt I deserved happiness. You deserve happiness now and the way you earn it is by looking for it. It's out there. Your happiness does not look like mine. I hope you find it.

Jillo has some awesome ideas!!! I recently took a yoga class for 8 weeks at the local community college- it was so cheap and SOOOO worthwhile. Something about a daily walk as well as reading in the sun somewhere both make me happy, too. There are lots of little things you can do. One step at a time! Wish you well!

You posted in the addiction section, so I'm assuming you feel you're addicted to food. One of the most succesful ways to deal with addictions is a 12 step program. Either overeaters anonymous or Food addicts anonymous work thru the same principle, although FAA is more detailed such as no sugar or flour. Carbs are allowed. I really suggest you give it a try its free (you can give a dollar donation at the meeting to pay for the rent)
You got nothing to lose by trying. Look them up in your area, call and hook up to someone.

I read a book recently called When Food is Love by Geneen Roth. It has a lot of insight to why we use food to fill the emptiness in our lives. The author has gone through it herslf and the book is writen in a story telling style. So it's not telling you what to do it helps you to figure out what to do for yourself.

I've been coping with this for much of my life as well.

You have GOT to start a system of finding REWARDS and COPING MECHANISMS that are healthy and acceptable in your life. It's hard, I KNOW! I have no time and no money. Food is cheap and accessable, quick and anywhere.

What could be a reward for you? [ie: for me in my crazy life, a cup of tea, being able to paint or read a book is actually a reward]

What are healthy coping mechanisms? [ie: for me, walking, even a shower actually helps me to cope]

my therapist had me get a workbook [got off amazon: Amazon.com: The Relaxation & Stress Reduction Workbook (New...Amazon.com: The Relaxation & Stress Reduction Workbook (New... ]

You know, it all seems really dorky. But the truth is that if you are desparate enough to really want to get better, its just fricking great to have something to try to work towards.

This would be a quick basic idea of what my therapist has been having me work toward... I wish you so much luck! I really believe that we can be successful!!!!
