Any TV addicts here?
I am struggling to cut out the TV watching hours so I can do more during the day. My life is very sedentary because of it. The only time I lost weight without trying was when we had no cable for about 3 months.
It is truly an addiction - I like having the TV on to keep me "company" at all times when I am at home, and I'm finding it impossible to turn it off. Any ideas? |

No help here. I am an addict also. I start off my day at 7am with Beverly Hillbillies, turn to reruns of Summerland at 8, Fraiser at 9, then don't watch anything until noon when All My Children comes on. At lpm I turn to As the World Turns, Guiding Light, Dr. Phil, Oprah and then the news comes on. At 6 reruns of Two and a Half Men come on and then I switch over to the nightly Prime Time Shows until 10. At 10 we get double shot of Seinfeld and then All about Jim and Fraiser that run until lam then I turn over to the N channel for What I like About You and Sabrina. After an hour of Sabrina I normally fall asleep. My whole day is full of television.

Koo, I love Frasier! I watch the reruns every day. I start at 5 am with Morning Joe on MSNBC and take it from there. Thankfully I work so I don't get a chance to watch TV between 7 am and 4 pm. I record stuff on the DVR all the time though. But the rest of the time, it's all TV all the time.
It's always been weird to me how some people don't watch TV at all. I aspire to be like these people. I want to go out and have fun, not be plugged in in front of the tube all the time. One of my decisions this year is to learn how to downsize my TV watching to 2 hours per day.

I actually gave away my tv set a couple of years ago, because I'd lose so much time in front of it. Now I'm afraid I've tranferred my addiction to the computer/internet.

I was watching WAY too much TV asa result of unemployment at one point... then we moved house and have ZERO reception... problem solved. I jonesed hard for about 3 weeks but now it doesn't even occur to me to watch TV. It is hleped by my good friends also having no TV... so at least they don't only try to talk TV shows.

OMG, TV bears so much responsibility in our obesity epidemic, but then so do we for not turning it off.
I at one time elected to turn it off except for favorite shows - I would check the internet guide to select what I would watch. That lasted less than 2 weeks and I had a sick day and - you guessed it - back to old habits. HOWEVER, my BFF has started only allowing herself to watch TV if she's riding her stationary bike. Brilliant. Something we hate to get something we love - and it's harder to eat and peddle!

Hi Guys,
I put my treadmill in front of the tv. Now I walk during I love Lucy :-) But, yes, tv on all the time. We just recently got direct tv. It was actually frustrating because I use to have every channel memorized and what was on each channel. Now I have to rememorize what shows are on what channels. Still don't have it down yet, So I'm definitely a tv addict. |

I did the Nielson's ratings thing week before last. It is a pain in the butt to have to log it all but at least they picked someone who watches a lot of television.

I just got my Neilsen booklet - yes, we watch a lot of tv - Dh and I watch in different rooms. He loves to have something on - radio or tv. I agree - I am always on the laptop though - i guess i'm reading blogs or writing,..something more stimulating? But, still...I should read my stack of library books!
