Had a puff or two of a non-tobacco type smoke last night and did nothing but pull faces at how foul it tasted, and then had to rush off have a shower and brush my teeth because I STANK... so I feel pretty secure that I won't be smoking (anything) anymore.
Actually I am gettign really annoyed at how stanky the house is when my fiance smokes so I may have to start hinting that he should quit. |

Yeah, or at least have him smoke outside. I always smoked outside - even when it rained. That's one rule I always MADE myself follow.
Hang in there Hummingbird......every day gets easier. I know those are just words right now, but eventually you won't be thinking about them all the time. Big deep breath. B |

3 weeks smoke free and just realised today that my "nerves" which have been really bad lately are probably nicotine withdrawal.... This is quite soothing to know as I was really on edge wondering what my spider sense was trying to tell me
Have passed the point of any desire to smoke, so just need to get through the jangling nerves and I;ll be good. Have a nicotine inhaler but haven't used it so far and seems foolish to add nictone back into the mix now. Maybe I'll go for a shoop (elliptical x trainer workout) tonight - I think I remember plenty of chemicals get stored in your adipose tissue. When you burn fat it gets released back into your bloodstream... I got plenty of adipose and a backlog of chemicals surely Time for some slow release relief.

Good idea to work out. That is the best relief for stress...that and crying. I did a lot of crying after I quit, just nerves and needing a way to release them. The emotional roller coaster lasted awhile, but it eventually evened out, thank goodness.
Congratulations on your 3 weeks, girl ![]() ![]() Last edited by lindaokc; 05-05-2009 at 05:58 PM.. |

Sugar! Don't do it!
All that will happen is you will have to go through the quit all over again!!! I don't know what's going on with you, but I'm having some really rough stuff too. And it's been really hard to ignore the cigarettes that people are smoking around me. It would be so easy to just say "can I bum a smoke?" But I don't want to go through all the misery again, and it won't make things better. Try to find some other outlet. Take a walk, have a good cry. Something, anything! you will get through this. Please hang in.........

You guys are doing great!!!
In answer to the oil pulling question- I try to do it am and pm but really when I think about it . seems like once you start you almost have a want to do it , if that makes any sense. I use one tablespoon of oil. If you do an internet search on it you will find some great info on oil pulling. Good luck to everyone . You can do it !!! Paula |

Hi Everyone! Haven't posted in a while. Congratulations to everyone! You've all been doing so well!
![]() I've fallen a few times, but very sporadically. 2 weeks ago, spent the day with my smoking buddy and went through 1 1/2 packs in 1 night Just like the old days. After that night - no desire to smoke and went through to last Saturday. I went out with my friends and got a little craving. So had one smoke with a friend. In both instances I felt totally nasty afterward. So really, no desire to go back to it. Just realized that yesterday and the day before, I hadn't even thought about having a cigarette. ![]() My weight, however, is another issue altogether. But then again, all things in good time. |

Glad you were able to pull yourself away from the cigarettes when you picked them up. Sometimes we can't do that, and that is what helps us decide to go back to smoking. Each time we pick up the cigarette, the nicodemon gets stronger. It might be a month before you are tempted again, but if you cave, he will grow. Maybe you won't notice it a awhile, but he does grow and gain strength whenever you give in to him.
Didn't mean to lecture, but be careful, as your not smoking is precious....and I know what you mean about the weight ![]() |

I don't mind you lecutring. That's why I'm here for support and to support everyone else. I do understand what you mean about the "nicodemon" who creeps back and taps you on the back. But what's different about all my last attempts to quit has been if I smoked even one cigarette - that was the end of my quitting. I would be right back at square one. Which is why I was so surprised at myself that I smoked 1 1/2 pack with my friend and it did nothing for me.I truly have no desire to go back - at least this time I feel it deep down inside. I don't want to go there any longer at this point in my life. And I smell it on people in the elevator and on the train and I'm just thinking how I smelled.Moggett: Congratulations girl on sticking to plan. So just what kind of non-tobacco did you smoke that day? ![]() Sugar: Sending you great big I am so proud of you for staying on plan. That took a heck of a lot of strength and will power. You continue to be my inspiration. |

Awww, man.....You just made my day! I'm your inspiration?.....Wow......Nobody has ever said that to me before. Wow........
Thank you so much. Still hanging in there. I'm actually drinking a cup of coffee right now - with no problems. Nice to be able to just enjoy the coffee without jonesing. For Mother's Day I got 2 books that I wanted. I started "The Diet Cure"......and I'm just STARTING to read it, but I'm gonna go ahead and recommend the book, because it talks all about amino acids and how when we eat crappy our brains are deprived of essential chemicals that drive us to have these addictions. The book is in paperback and is not all that expensive, but maybe you can ask for it at the library. I think it will be helpful for all of us.......Let's face it, the reason we came here in the first place is because of wanting to lose weight or learn a better eating plan......Personally I have a very addictive personality and smoking was just one of the ways that it manifested. Maybe we can cure this addictive thing- or help ourselves by fixing what we've wronged for years. Check it out, yo.....lol. I'm glad that I stopped smoking.....The weather is nice now and I look all around and see people riding their bikes and walking and living life......This is what we need......to be healthy and embracing life. Our quitting smoking is the first step to helping ourselves....and that's a good thing. ![]() B

Glad you are doing so well, SugarPop. You're right, of course. The joy comes in not having to think about the cigarettes or crave them or even to not have a passing thought. That takes awhile, of course, and you have to go THROUGH the tough part to get there. You've done that, and although you may have some little bumps here and there, it won't be like it was at first.
I've got the Diet Cure. I've read it but it's been so long I don't remember as much as I should, probably. It did have some good parts to it, and since we all seem to have the same addictions...... sugar, cigarettes, and some others too, I would imagine. couldn't hurt to look at it again. Thanks for the suggestion. |

Hi everyone i am new here, thought to sign up when i saw THIS treat! because first of all i totaly had to post here abviosly
then also i wanted to give some tips! ok so today is my day 23 as none smoker i want to share my experience on how i did it so far. i am not trying to advertise here(not like i am getting anything out of it anyways) i used and am still using the Commit lozenges, hey i am not sure whether those things are the reason for my mega easy quit or am i just strong??? it was easy from day 1 for me!!!! i must admit i feeled very dipresed, home sick(i am from germany) and bored my first week. i could not understand why and how the none smoker folk live such a boring life(i smoked 16 years long) but even i was depressed etc etc i still did NOT crave any want for cigarettes!!! but well all my being depressed etc etc is over since about 2 weeks i feel like i never smoked in my live also those commit "pills" well the suggest to first 6 weeks take a 'pill' every 2hrs so at least 9 pills a day, hey all i take/d was 4-5 pills and i feel great! i am also very confident this i will stay none smoker, hey am i strong or those pills work great???! like i sayd i dont want to advertise those 'pills' here but to go to walmart or whatever is close to you and get some of those wouldnt hurt to try, maybe they will work so awesome for you too? and if they do let me know your experience about it because i am just curious what did it for me?! anyways congrants to me day 23 and i feel awesome! ![]()
