Hang in there. The craving will pass. At this point it's more a memory than a craving. Try to keep front and center the reason you quit. That is the most important!!

The nicodemon is making a last ditch effort to get you back. Don't let him. It's a trap and he's a liar. He'll tell you how much you enjoyed them. It's not true. He's a liar.

Tough it out for a little while tonight and after a good nights sleep you will be so relieved you didn't cave.

Glad I found this thread!

I really really REALLY want to quit-for my health AND for the money I'm spending on these stupid things!

BUT, my problem is I enjoy smoking! Crazy I know, but when I think about quitting I almost get teary-eyed. I get sad almost as if I would be losing a good friend. Does that make any sense?

Other times I make myself wanna barf thinking those stupid thoughts!

I don't know how I'm gonna do it. I think I'm just gonna have to go cold turkey, but I know that when I've tried to quit before, I got extremely moody (that's saying it nicely LOL).

Anyway, I'll just keep reading this thread and hoping that one day (soon I hope) I'll be able to kick this nasty habit!

Thanks for reading!

Not crazy at all Flickerlane. We have all been there! I did actually cry many times. And then I was PO'd because I was quitting and I didn't even WANT to in the first place! (I was doing it to be supportive of my DH, who has STILL not quit!)
You will get there. Just keep checking in with us!!

Flickerlane, I'd suggest you get the book by Allen Carr called "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" I can't tell you how many people it has helped and it will change that desire for cigarettes into repulsion. Very, very life changing book. You can do this and one of the first steps I'd take if I were you is to get that book.
Carbkinky, you certainly have my prayers and best wishes also. You will do great on the Chantix, I'm sure.

Ohhh, carbkinky, sorry to say, yes I did gain the pounds. I just restarted my stats!
But on top of quitting smoking I had back surgery and steroids and menopause to boot! I'm struggling, but at least I'm not smoking!

SugarPop here...........Still hanging in there.

Just want you guys to know that an online friend of mine quit about 3 weeks after me......In a moment of weakness she recently smoked a whole pack in one day - She actually got the flu or something just days later (must have supressed her immune system)......anyway, just glad she's back on track.......and you know what helped? I told her about the nicodemon just like linda told me. She said it helped her to visualize it like a comic book character.

Hang in there everybody......Remember how your hair stinks when you step into the shower? Remember how you were afraid to talk to people or hug them cuz you didn't want them smelling your breath? Remember how your clothes stink and even your leather purse absorbs the stench? Remember how it was when you weren't a slave to the nicotine? Remember when your teeth were white?

You are doing great, just like Barb said. You know, that lady that smoked the whole pack is still so far ahead of the game. I've had a few whooops along the way also, but getting right back off of them is the key and the nicodemons pull is weakened by the length of time she hasn't been smoking, so it will be easier to walk away. Glad she was able to put them back down.
Great visuals, Sugar Pop. I'm excited for you, Carbkinky. You're going to love being a non smoker, girl.

This morning is the worst!!!! I am the type of person who can roll out of bed and light one up. If I can get through this morning, I'll be okay. I knew it would be bad. Why did I ever start in the first place. This stinks! Somebody should have smacked me back then! I can do it! I am stronger than cigs. Thanks guys for the warm welcome.

You'll get through it April. The cravings will pass after a few moments whether you pick up the cigarette or not and it will be awhile before another craving hits. Hang in there, girl.

Ahhh 2 week mark!!! WOOHOO!!!!
The fight is not over but the battle is getting easier!!
( thank goodness)
And all the kids are still living!

Although I know that some people that I have had contact with the past 2 weeks may not think I am the nicest person in the world, I dont know maybe it was the way my head would snap in a 360 spin, my eyes would glow green and awful things would come spewing out of my mouth!! OOPS ! Sorry ha ha

To the lady sitting in her car in the grocery store parking lot , smoking her lil cig. You dont know how bad I wanted to flick it out of your hand and tell you if I couldnt have one neither could you!!! I really did think of doing this, good thing I caught myself before I did!!! ha ha

April!! You can do it. I know now that you can. The first days are going to be hard, Not even going to lie. You will have every emtion flying through you but you know what , in the end it is all worth it!! Good Luck and we are all here for you !!!
