This is CRAZY I am craving cigarettes!

I saw a movie last night and someone was smoking cigarettes in the film.

Now all night and this morning I have been craving them..

I just had to go to the bank and I almost caved and bought a pack!

I have never had a craving brought on by a visual cue..
I have had them in the past from smelling smoke but never just seeing someone on TV smoking!

I can't believe this..
it's been almost 8 months..
WTH!

OMG Anges!

thank you.
I am so sorry your hubbie still smokes.. but it's such an amazing accomplishment that you quit!

It's so frustrating! I can understand craving them from smell.. but just seeing someone smoke on TV! that is scary to me.

I did have a problem right in the beginning when I drank cocktails, really wanting a cig.. but it eventually got much easier.. especially because no one around is smoking in the establishments anymore.

thanks for the "don't cave it" push!

I echo that "don't cave in" message! It is so worth it to be free of the expense, the smell, and having to "step outside" while the party goes on inside without you.

I had the same thing happen to me when I was watching Mad Men- everyone on that show smokes! I really wanted some, and when stress hit later in the week, I was really 1 foot from getting in my car and going to the store.

But, I stopped it! I ran on my treadmill instead until I was too exhausted and sweaty to want cigs anymore.

Stay strong! Cigarettes are a BAD addiction.

Thank you,

Naz.. it's true.. I can't believe how bad an addiction if 8 months later I am just seeing someone on TV smoke and wanting one.

It's strange, I could almost smell them.

I am doing better.. made some lunch.. and got out my cinnamon sticks (used them to help me quit - I just "puff" on them, the rolled up sticks have a hole in the middle) and I am feeling better..

Thank you everyone!

Cary~

I have been smoke free for almost 4 years. I still have cravings at the oddest times. I know if I light up just one it is over for me. Do not cave in and have that first one. The first one always leads to a 2nd and a 3rd. Been there done that many times before I got it right.

I asked my DB the other night if me watching Mad Men bothers him because of the amount of smoking they do. (He quit cold turkey a year and a half ago.) He said no and it doesn't matter the craving will always be there even if you haven't smoked in years. You just stop thinking about it and move on!

That is so strange Cary! You know, I wonder if L-Glutamine might help with your cravings. It is said that cigarettes are 90% sugar. (Julia Ross)

If you are interested in trying it, 500mg. 3x daily

a family friend who hasnt smoked for 10 years used to always come by me when i was a smoker just to smell the smoke... she said she always still craves and just enjoys the smell...

thats one thing i have come to terms with... that i might always have the craving... but i will not cave in... no matter what happens...
