Made it through. It has been 14 days since I was a smoker!!!!

Drank a ton of water yesterday, and now I am coughing up a bunch of crap . I am hopeful that all the water loosened it all up and it will keep coming until it is all gone.

Friday at work I did the spirometer. Doc had me do it on myself, thought it wasn't working properly. Well my results were a mild obstruction. He said that was probably right considering how many years I smoked and was suprised it wasn't much worse, even with the exercise I am currently doing. That really scared me. Here I am 41 years old and I have lung disease. Even if it is totally reversable at this point, it is a very scare prospect.

Restarted induction yesterday and did very well. I actually do feel better this morning. Think maybe some of my blah feeling was all the carbs I ate on Friday. Would think I would learn that, huh?

Thanks for all the support and everyone keep up the great work. This is one monster that all of us will never have to fear alone again.

you will...the worst thing that will mess with your head is the water retention. Nocotine is a diuretic..so you may swell a bit.
Hang in there..it is NOT REAL GAIN but retention..and it was almost enough to drive me to smoke. THank God i did not.

Aim OMG you dont know how bad I needed to hear that! My rings have been way to big since I lost weight. I dropped them off to be resized last week, the day after I quit smoking. I tried the resizer on a few times just to make sure I had the perfect fit, but when I picked them up today and they were sooooo snug I about cried.

Wheew! Here's to having faith that its just water retention!

You girls, especially you younger ones. Get quit and stay there!!
I just got bone density test results that were not good. Arg. Stupid things we do to our body that effect everything!

At least I am already quit, so I won't have to deal with that stress at the appointment with the Doc next week. Haven't had a drink since New Year's Eve either, but THAT I am thinking about!

11 MONTHS SMOKE FREE TODAY

I am SO GLAD I no longer smoke. It was a disgusting, nasty, rank, horrible habit I am thankful not to have. One less albatross around my neck.

You guys... kutgw with not smoking! I wanna celebrate everybody's anniversaries with them!

Barb ~ It's gonna be HARD to have a drink and not smoke. Perhaps you'd be better off leaving the alcohol alone for now.

Wow Deila! Way to go! That is an amazing accomplishment!
I laid off the alcohol. I was drinking and not smoking before, but I am seriously inducting so I don't want to blow that. No drinks since New Years Eve.
I settled for a Xanax!

Paula how long have you been on the Chantix?

Aim Thank you so much for the input on the water. I did good today. I drink a lot of water normally but to get that much I really had to push it today.

Day 8 here and I am feeling fine. I hate to jinx myself but between the Chantix, the book and the CD - this has been almost easy. I was telling everyone that I gained 4 lbs but when I went back and looked at the dates, I had gained the 4 lbs BEFORE I quit. (Oh how it pained me to change my signature stats to a higher number today.)

I smoked for 21 years, hard core - between a pack and 2 packs a day.The week leading up to my quit day my anxiety was at 9 - I was dying. After the first day I quit, poof anxiety was gone. The thought of quitting was a whole lot scarier than the realty of quitting. Go figure!

The Chantix is causing me a bit of nausea. I was going to get all down about that, but I figured a few minutes of nausea twice a day for a little while sure beats the 3 days of nausea I might experience after chemotherapy if I ended up with cancer. New out look and poof nausea not such a big deal anymore.

this morning i was at 205.

I have been experimenting also. I found my best bet in avoiding the nausea is drinking a ton of water when I take them. I even tried drinking the water and not eating - it worked just as well. Wheeee - I think I have found what is going to work for me.

I am so sorry about the weight gain. I went on an all out carb binge last night. I was starved and there was nothing in the house to eat other than prepackaged junk food. My 19 year old daughter decided that since I quit smoking, and her dad is out of town, now would be a good time to wage all out war with me. Oh what fun it's been. ::Snark:: After an hour or so of war I just didn't have the energy to go to the store, so I ate what was here.

I am sure I will have a gain - oh well, I did mange to not smoke and not choke her all at the same time. No one is perfect

Snarky kids suck

But... I am totally proud of you that you didn't end last night in chains... either the chains of addiction...... OR handcuffs!!

You guys are just doing such an AWESOME job and I am very proud of you! So what if you had a carb binge! So what if you're gaining back a little weight.

Think of the benefits of your quit! Being able to breathe better when you exercise so you can exercise longer and lose weight faster! Being able to REALLY taste your food, so you'll make healthier choices which, in turn, will help you with your weight!

KUTGW!

Day 21 of being a non-smoker

SonyaK - glad you did neither - like having you around.

PrettyPaula - hang in there. I yo-yoed with my weight the first 2 weeks of quitting. This last week I have lost 7 pounds on induction. I think it takes some time for your body to realize that you are not going to go back to the way things were.

aim in Fla - I can't wait for a year either. But I am gonna cherish every moment smoke-free until then.

sweetpeas - congratulations on your milestone. That is a most wonderful accomplishment. You are an inspiration to all of us.
