I need to lose weight. Per Micki's info, I started walking about 3 days ago...but nothing...just gain.
I am fed up.
You can see how much I have been walking, and I haven't lost a pound. Not one stinkin' pound! But...I have been eating badly, and I haven't gained. I feel healthier too. So I will keep on walking.

That's a good point about the heat.
Except that first time around I started in August and the weight flew off!

I am still smoke free. I slipped up back in April for a few days. Jumped right back on the Chantix and quit easy breezy again. I would have to say that quitting the Chantix cold turkey was close to torture. I suffered debilitating anxiety and depression. Even still I would still recommend using the drug. It was a miracle that I could quit so easily, I would just warn to taper off when it comes time to quit the drug.

On an unrelated note, I have gained all my weight back and then some. I do mean to say that the events are unrelated. I did not gain the weight when I quit, I gained it 5 months later when I went completely off plan.

Even when I am not posting I have been keeping up with you all wish you the best of luck and cheering for you!

Six months, two weeks, three days, 21 hours, 48 minutes and 52 seconds. 4997 cigarettes not smoked, saving $811.96. Life saved: 2 weeks, 3 days, 8 hours, 25 minutes.

Hello all, I am new here - I lost 105lbs on Atkins in 2003. I've maintained (within 5lbs) that loss (huge for me) since then. I finally quit smoking 7/7/08 and have gained 10 lbs since then. can anyone offer some tips? Did you diet differently when you stopped smoking?

Give walking a try. A brisk 3 mile walk (45 min-1 hour)gets you away from food, helps with cravings, and makes you feel better. It should help to balance off the metabolism drop from quitting cigarettes.
Addiction to walking has replaced my cigarette addiction, scale obsession, comfort eating.
Congratulations on your quit and please realize that quitting is the best thing you can do for your health.

I just wanted to pop in and say a big thanks to some folks in this section that recommend the book "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking."

My daughter has smoked for about 8 years. She also has bipolar disorder. She has wanted to quit smoking off and on, but never been able to stay off, various stresses would throw her off track.

She almost tried the drug Chantix, but it wasn't on the formulary. She was able to get the doctor to write up and exception for her when we got the information about it causing (or increasing) psychiatric symptoms in some people. She really did not need that.

But she finally read the book, and she is now smokefree. She plans to buy copies for her smoking friends. Again, who ever recommended it (ages ago!) I and my daughter are very thankful.

Hey guys!
I have read all of your post and been keeping up with you guys! I am impressed!! You all have done what I have never been able to do to date.

Last year I got chantix, It helped me cut down but I only lasted 9 days and slipped back into the same thing!!!! I could give you a list of reasons but the result is the same I went back !
Well I just found that walgreens will sell me the chantix by the week which will help me afford it better then by the month packs. I want this so bad, dont know if I will tell my friends and family cause I dont want to fail again but all I can do is give it my best shot and see what happens. I took day one of the chantix today! So we will see what happens!!

You all rock !!! Hope one day I will say I am not smoking too!!!
Thanks Paula

Paula!! That's GREAT!!
Welcome aboard! That's great that Walgreen's will do that for you. Sure will help with the cost. Stick with it til smoking really makes you sick. That's all I did. Once I got to where I only was smoking 1 cigarette a day, I figured I could handle it on my own. Everybody's different though. You have to do what works for you.
Come on in and vent and scream or cheer. Whatever you need to do. We are here for you!!!
YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Thanks for checking in on me - Still smoke free! I decided to do a meat/egg fast and am down 3 lbs and feeling more in control. While I lost 105 lbs, I still need to loose another 40lbs to be in my weight range according to the charts. - Since I am now not smoking, I think exercising will be my next step.

Congrats, Micki Atta girl !!!

Paula, how great that you are going to try again. That is the key, just keep on trying til it takes. Many people have to try 10 or 12 times (me) before making much progress. If you want it, it will happen.

Congrats on keeping it up, Carbsmokefree. Congratulations on your weight loss too
