Congrats Linda!
Are you going cold turkey? I swear the first 3 days were the worst after that it was a mind game Allan Carrs book helped prepare me and helped diffuse the stress |

Day 3! Hang in!! You can do it!!!
Allen Carr's Book was a very good read, but I don't think I ever finished it completely. Because, then I would have had to quit smoking LOL. I wasn't ready for it at the time. I used Chantix for about 3 weeks. That was enough for me. ![]() But seriously? My DAD quit smoking. My Dad is 78 years old and started smoking when he was 10. He was my inspiration, and told me about the Chantix. And he is still quit over a year now! |

Not really having much difficulty. I have been quit for almost 3 yrs, but have been picking up cigarettes for 3 or 4 cigarettes whenever I'd get upset and throwing away the rest of the pack, then doing it again after a month or so. Anyway, this last time, I smoked non stop for over a week, having a hard time putting them down. I've kept on WElbutrin for a year now, knowing I was slipping, but only taking one a day. I kicked it back up to 2 a day a couple of days before I put them down. I had a couple of rough moments yesterday, but nothing I couldn't handle. It truly feels great to have thrown them away and I'm glad I"m an ex smoker again.
Thanks for the encouragement. I am doing fine. ![]() ETA: Read the Allen Carr book. It was an inspiration to me. I must get it back out. |

Not too good.
I broke yesterday and bought a pack. Smoked 3, then threw the rest away. So irritating, but not giving up. I am on Welbutrin, but only went back up to 2 pills a day just over a week ago. I WILL make it !!! Thanks for checking on me ![]() |

Well I slipped up last night. While sitting at the bar at Chili's waiting for take-out and smelling Nick's cigarettes and drinking 2 margaritas I smoked a couple cigarettes. I think 3 or 4. I just wanted to have a couple. I don't have any desire to smoke today, but I know that giving myself permission to do it once usually leads to a full blown relapse.
I need Nick to quit smoking again. It is so much harder with him smoking. No more drinking for me for a while. I don't usually drink anyways. I don't know what I was thinking. errrr! (Mad at me)What should I do about my day count? I did go 148 days without smoking, and moving forward I won't smoke. Should I subtract one day?

I have been quit for 7 Months, 3 Weeks, 3 Days, 3 hours, 48 minutes and 57 seconds (237 days). I have saved $1,185.78 by not smoking 9,486 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Month, 2 Days, 22 hours and 30 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 11/4/2007 2:36 PM
SO how crazy is THIS?? My kids (my kids are 19, 23, & 29 by the way) have all traveled together up North to see their Grandparents. Only the 19yr old still lives at home. Anyway, so my thoughts yesterday after they left? "Hey! I can smoke while they are gone! Nobody will be here to ***** at me!" Now is that STUPID or what?? I've come through the back surgery, feeling pretty good. Gained some more weight, that's not good. But I know it's the drugs and lack of exercise. I'm working on that. Back to the Dr. on Monday and hopefully will get clearance to at least start some PT. Anyway, I got through all that and never even crossed my mind to smoke. The last couple of days have been rough though. I'm still hanging in and not smoking though! I have started asking DH when he is going to quit too. He is coughing so bad. He finally admitted, at least, that it's about time. So we'll see what he does about it.

Thanks Barb! I'll be ok. I am going to subtract one day from my count since it was one day I wasn't smoke-free.
I am so disappointed in myself. I know better than to drink. Nothing good ever happens after a 2nd drink! lol |

I am surprised that I have not had that problem with drinking.
We were at our friends house last weekend and the guys were smoking (we were outside under a covered porch) and I was . Seriously had to walk away. I was really surprised at myself. Sometimes I find myself seeking out smokers to get some 2nd hand smoke! I know! |

Glad you are doing Ok, Micki. I am also hanging in there. I'm blessed in that my hubby doesn't smoke or there would be no hope for me. I am not giving up, I will make it, for sure. Some deep breathing helps, along w/ cutting the thought short when it comes up. Got up this morning smoke free and going to bed the same way.

I haven't even thought of a cigarette all day. Nick is out of town so I don't have to see him outside smoking or catch a whiff of his cigarettes.

Hi there! I started smoking in High School and was about 1/2 pack to a pack a day until I was 32 and got pregnant. I quit cold turkey and stayed quit until my brother died in June of 2001. I then started back but only 5-6 cigarettes a day until Saturday June 21st when I smoke over a pack due to drinking heavily while playing in the pool When I woke up on Sunday the 22nd I felt like absolute CRAP!!! I decided then and there that at 41 years old with a husband and a 7yo wonderful son that smoking was just STUPID!!! So, that being said, I have not had a cigarette since Saturday the 21st around 11pm. I was using the patch, but as of today I am going completely off nicotine!!!! Yea me ![]() ![]() ![]() Is is weird to feel a little sad that I won't be smoking anymore? I realize that is stupid, but I guess that I am grieving in a way. Please tell me that I am not the only one that has felt this way ![]() Okay, now I am going to actually read this whole thread. Thanks for listening and letting me join all of you other Quitters!!!!
