This looks like a good thred. I quit smoking for about 3 wks. Both my husband and I took the Chantix. I took it for about 1 week (the starter kit) and my husband is still on it and not getting any results. This kind of makes it hard on me since I smell the stuff all day and makes me want one. I've cheated a couple of times. Has anyone tried the Chantix and patch? Maybe this would work on him.
Juanita PS. have been on Atkins and have not gained any weight. |

I learned that the other day on Oprah. (thank you Dr.Oz ) Dr Oz said to a woman in the audience that she should withold sex until he quits. lol I used Chantix too. It made me forget to smoke after about 3-4 days. I was leaving my house without cigarettes, and not going back for them. Like, I'll smoke when I get home. Amazing for me. I was a chain smoker. 2 packs a day. Anyways, I quit on day 9 or 10. I was determined and ready. My live-in BF had already quit one month earlier. That helped alot. Have you tried quitnet.com yet? It's a whole community of quitters. Maybe I'll see you there? Good luck to you. Stay strong. If you are really determined not to smoke, you won't let your DH's smoking influence you.

Juanita - The Chantix is designed to STOP you from enjoying or getting any satisfaction from nicotine (in any form, cigs, gum, patch ect..) Spending that much money on a pill that makes you not like Nicotine and then the extra money to supply nicotine via a patch (or gum or cig) is counterproductive. Maybe by reading up on what exactly Chantix is and how it works might make this journey a bit easier on you. Also I do highly recommend the book by Allen Carr.

crappy day 40!
I have been having a bad day. Bad mood. Crabby, irritated, miserable and even at times wishing I still smoke, but I DON'T SMOKE.
I was out yesterday and I had to walk past a group of outside smokers at the courthouse. It smelled so foul and nasty. I don't know it it's the Chantix that is making it smell so bad or what, but ewwww! Maybe that is what set me off on this craving or whatever it is. I know I don't want to smoke, so calling it a craving doesn't seem right. So I am hoping for a better day tomorrow. No matter what, I will go to bed tonight a non-smoker. |

Good job Micki!
![]() Hang in there. It will pass. I still have those moments. I came home today and I could smell smoke in the house. DH said he was NOT smoking in the house but on the back porch. I could still smell it in the house and it was gross. That was a good thing. I never smelled it before in the house. And I smoked in the house. Poor DS, what I/we put him through. Tomorrow will be better! ![]() |

Today is better.
I guess it could have been PMS. I don't have periods anymore, so I can't say for sure. I hate to call it craving, because I am not craving smoking, not really. I will not smoke again. |

hang in there
Hang in there and keep up the attitude . I quit several years ago and it was hard for a few months . My head had the hardest time and emotions . It is a hard and wonderful thing to do . I loved the saying ( non smoker ) . When I would want to smoke I would laugh and say oh I am a nonsmoker . I am a thousand times grateful I did not give in and start the cycle all over again . My house is clean , clothes , mouth , I have fresh air lol . Sandy

I have a year and a month without smoking and I STILL have days where I feel as if I am missing "something".... then I realise that it is a cigarette in my hand that I am missing!
![]() I've read back where someone posted that Dr. Oz (whoever that is) on Oprah stated that someone's chance of quitting dropped down to 5% if their SO didn't quit. That sounds kind of rediculous to me. I quit... and have kept my quit.... and my DH still smokes. I feel, if you REALLY are adamant about quitting, then no one can lessen your chances of quitting. If you fail at your attempt to quit and say it is b/c your SO didn't quit... then you weren't serious about quitting in the first place IMO. SERIOUS quitters won't let anyone or anything 'make' them smoke. They just.... don't.... smoke. KUTGW everyone! ~Deila

Hey guys - I just finished day 1 of my quit on Chantix. The other 2x I quit on Chantix were very easy; this time it has been really hard (been taking it for 3 weeks this time - before I quit after 3-4 days). I plan to stay on the Chantix for six months this time - I quit after a month or two the last two times, and I think it was too soon.
Congrats to all who are fighting the good fight! |

I have been lurking for awhile and thought I would finally pop in. I have been a smoker for 15 years and I won't lie, I love being a smoker. That being said, I used to love Doritos and Pop-Tarts before this WOE!! So, I do understand that what I love is not always good for me
I started induction on March 1 and have done pretty well. I thought I would wait to quit once I had lost more weight or even reached my goal. The more I thought about it, I knew that I was just looking for an excuse not to quit right away and I knew that I was better off quitting while I'm still on induction and motivated about getting healthy. ALL that being said... I smoked a cigarette at 5 am (I always smoke as SOON as I wake up ) felt disgusted by it and decided that today is THE day.I plan to post often as I am terrified about taking this head on. You guys seem like a good group and I hope you can offer advice, support, encouragement-- ANYTHING, 'cause I will need it ALL. Take Care--

Well... I'm almost through with the day and did not touch a cig! On a normal day I would have smoked about 10 by now. I had several errands to run with kids in car-- not a situation I would normally smoke in anyway. I probably thought about a cig several times an hour, but it's been okay. My eating was squeeky clean too!! I think I picked a good time to quit
Yay me! |

![]() I will be here for you! I am only 2 months ahead of you and i used to think I loved to smoke too. That's funny! I'm not sure what I loved about it the most, probably just feeding the addiction constantly. Never having to crave or be cranky. Other than that, I don't miss the smell, the cough, the mess in my house, the stink in my car, the expense, the stuff coming out of my lungs every morning, the fear of dying young of lung cancer, heart disease, empysema; almost setting my bed, car, couch, cloths, self on fire; the sleepless nights waking up to smoke every 2-3 hours. Yes, I loved to smoke too, right. ![]() Wait until you are clean for a couple weeks, and you walk past a group of people smoking outside. Look at the misery on their faces while they stand outside in the rain or cold or heat. Then come back about ten minutes later. You can still smell them, and boy do they stink. ![]() Remember that 20 minutes of brisk walking every day will equal the metabolism change from quitting, so get out and walk if you can. You're lucky to be quitting in April. I quit in February, and I walked every day, no matter what. There were some pretty cold mornings in February. But I haven't gained any weight this time, so there goes my favorite excuse to start smoking again. I guess I'm stuck being a non-smoker, and an opinionated one at that. (B I T C H on wheels lol) |
