new and old habits die hard
im new and finding it hard to stay on track...at only 2 and half weeks into atkins...i kinda feel pathetic typing that....all day long I find it pretty easy to stick to ...but at night...i feel my old binge tendencies returning. Since i was about 13 i have struggled with bulimia and coe.....during this short time i have been trying to follow this way of eating i have binged and purged twice...not proud of that...but maybe someone out there can relate...

Hi wittykitten. I just had to post to let you know that you are not alone. I have also struggled with ED's anorexia, bulimia & coe. At the beginning of my current weight loss journey I was coming off a 3 yr coe cycle. The only way I knew to lose weight was through another ED..of course. So, I turned to my old friend anorexia and began restricting to 200 cals a day. I lost 44 lbs in about a month/6 weeks. I then caved and began eating again, which turned into a cycle of bulimia. Well, I was so out of control I ended up in the ER with a multitude of issues including severe edema..I looked like a parade float. This is when I decided to try something new. I found LC'ing and have been b/p free for 26 days. I'm don't think that it's all LC that has kept me in line but it has helped me. I also joined support sites and post often. I think finding your triggers is key.
I am still new to this so I may not be able to offer to much advice but, I can offer my support. Feel free to contact me anytime. Take Care.

I am glad both of you are here! It is a great place to be. All I can say is that I understand....I am not ready to fess up to all that I have done, but since I started here I have tried very hard to find a new way to relate to food, and it has worked so far. Keep your spirits up and know that we are all here to help each other succeed.

This is a good thread. Thanks to ya'll who have shared a some of their stories.
![]() I've struggled with my ED since I was 13 or so. I have EDNOS. I struggled with COE for a couple of years and that's how I went from a size 6 to a size 30 in 2 years! At 290 lbs, I knew I had to do something. In Feb 2004, I started Atkins and that really curbed my out of control eating. I lost 145 lbs in 18 months which was way cool. I got off of LC and gained back up to 170 in 2006. I was scared that I was going to end up back at square 1. I started LCing and lost about 10 lbs. I was fine there until I started working at a bar. Then I kind of felt pressured to look a certain way to bring in tips. I started really restricting and using laxatives at that time. I went from a size 14 to size 6 in 2 months. Then I met my bf and of course I've gained some weight back. We ate out a lot and drank a lot in the beginning of our relationship. So...... finally I'm back to trying to lose weight by following LC. The weight is not coming off as fast as I would like but at least it is healthier. It is a vicious cycle. I think about food 24/7. I haven't had an official weigh in for several months. I'm a little scared of what the scale will say and that it will put me into a tailspin. So for now I'm staying off the blasted thing. Anyway, good luck everyone! This is a hard row to hoe but we can do it! ![]() ![]()
