alcoholic now exercise addict

I am a recovering alcoholic. 6 years ago i quit drinking for the first time & took up exercise. I went on lc diet & lost 180 lbs. Now i cant quit exercising. Today i ran 15 miles. Yester day i ran 14 & biked 20. Its like that every day. My regular doc sent me to a phyciatrist. She said i had ocd. She gave me meds., luvox,that made me feel like crap.So i decided to live with it. After reading on the internet it all stems from a eating disorder. Anybody else addicted to exercise out there;

Wow Gailca, congrats on your tremendous weight loss. You should be really proud of yourself. And congrats on quitting drinking. I'm not an exercise addict myself, and your workouts really are extreme. Can you get some couselling to help? to you....

I use to have mad OCD symptoms...mine was counting/touching things...so I totally sympathize.

I don't know if this will help, but you might want to see an Allergist, not a regular MD. I took my son to one when the school kept wanting to put him on Meds for ADHD.

We found that it was the foods he was eating causing his ADHD symptoms!! He is sensitive to Synthetic Dyes (which are in next to everything on the store shelf...) as well as Corn Syrup (which is also in next to everything in our food)

When we changed our diet (I had too as well since I didn't want to cook two seperate meals every meal) I noticed my OCD symptoms became less and less until the wonderful day I realized I had gone a whole day WITHOUT ANY SYMPTOMS!!

I suggest googling Feingold Diet , its what saved me an my son from our OCD and ADHD symptoms...most Dr's have never heard of it, but its been around for YEARS!!

(((hugs)))
Christine
