Certainly! Oh and I have a vent. DH complains over and over again about how we need to watch spending $$ on 'extras' because we need to save for him to go to school in August. And yet, he can find the $$ to buy cigarettes! Makes me wanna strangle him!!!
I tell him at LEAST buy the nasty, cheap-o brand. Save $ AND maybe he won't smoke as much. Nope. Gotta have them Marlboros! UGH! ~Deila Today I am 76 days clean! |

A few yrs back I signed myself up for college regardless of my husbands tantrums... for the exact same reason. We could afford his new Xbox and new Playstation and all of the new $50 games for them. We could afford his cigarettes. We could afford anything he wanted. I have always spent my money on house items. Food, clothes. Things like that. If you look around our house, say if we were to "seperate" our belongings... I'd take the groceries, ALL OF OUR CLOTHES as I buy his clothers, The sofa set, the kitchen table, the coffee table, the cleaning supplies, and the drapes and sheets. Mr. Threw-a-tantrum pants would be living in an apartment with a TV, a couple of video game systems, some music CD's, and a cellphone to call pizza delivery with... he'd have to sleep on the floor naked though because his clothes and sheets, etc.. were bought by me. He threw a tantrum that I signed up for college despite the fact that he didn't agree. But came back down off of it. I really had him by the because he had all of those video game systems.I JUST GRADUATED COLLEGE!!! YAY ![]()

Even though I'm struggling big time with the weight (which I was before quitting anyway...) I will NEVER regret giving up cigarettes. I'm sure I will get this weight thing figured out eventually. Exercise will sure help. (duh - ya think???) Best wishes to all for a smoke free rest of 2007. DG |

![]() Diela, you can probably appreciate this as a Q-ster. In the 40+ club we have a definition for NITWIT - Not In Touch With Inner Tweener. Tweeners have LOTS of fun celebrating the relevant milestones. We force Elders into massive partying and silliness. Sure takes your mind off of smoking cigarettes!!! Congratulations on your quits! Hey y'all! How is everyone doing?
I got my prescription for chantix yesterday! I had the dates mixed up and had to wait an extra week. Took my first dose this morning! YAY! On a side note, my best friend quit after taking chantix for a week and three days and has been smoke free for almost 2 weeks now! I am totally excited!!!!!!! |

WOW it sounds like so many of us are kickin' it. I'm really excited to see so many people who are utilizing Chantrix successfully. Hey - if that helps more people get off nicotine, the BLESS CHANTRIX!!
Me?? Celebrated 100 days yesterday and went to the "lodge" at www.Quitnet.com for those of you who follow that. I am THRILLED to be an ex-smokers. (I am less thrilled with the size of my a$$ right now, but I'll take it, to be free of nicotine!!) Congratulations everyone on your great quits!!!!! DG Day 101 Nicotine Free! |

Congratulations to all who have quit!!!
June 10th will be 5 months for me. And it will be 5 months since I've lost an ounce of weight ![]() I haven't gained any either so that's a plus but I'm hoping the scales will start to move again soon. I am within 10 lbs of my goal weight so I know it gets harder at that point anyway. I feel so much better since I quit. ![]() |

Rese I absolutely LOVE your avi! Makes me think you're up to something sneaky!!!!
![]() And to all of us who have quit, WHAHOOOZIE!!!! I am SO PROUD of everyone here! I'd like to get some help if I could. My DH is still smoking much to my chagrin (cha·grin /ʃəˈgrɪn/ –noun 1. a feeling of vexation, marked by disappointment or humiliation. –verb (used with object) ). He talks a good game about quitting, even went so far as to quit for a WHOLE 18 HOURS once! He is always asking me for help. First he only bought them one pack at a time so he didn't have a 'bunch' sitting around. Right, more $$$. Then we bought a carton and I was to ration them out so he could only have 1 pack every 3 days. That worked well until I found him buying packs behind my back. Then I said that cigarettes were no longer coming out of our household money, that if he wanted cigarettes he better find a way to earn the $30 on the side to get them. RIGHT. Now we are at, for every $ that goes towards ciggies, then I get the amount matched for anything ~I~ want. I don't see that lasting very long ![]() I guess I'd be OK with him smoking if he would just STOP 3ITCHING ABOUT IT! Either quit... or shuddup and smoke. Sorry, this turned out more like a rant. So, any ideas on what I should do? TIA ~Deila

Hi Resseranno (sp). Congratulations on your quit..AND on NOT gaining any weight!!!! I want YOUR body!!!!
![]() LOL Blugg! I can't WAIT 'til the day when I have to stop and think about how long exactly I've been quit. GOOD FOR YOU!!!! (**wishing it will happen to me somewhere around 14 months )***Deila, Mr. Doggy quit smoking around 2 years before I finally bit the bullet. At first he was cool in terms of "hey, this is my choice, you are entitled to make your own choice..." etc. But after about a year, he was REALLY getting sick of my stench, and smoking in the house, and smoking at all, etc. etc. He started applying pressure bit by bit until the choice to quit was a far more pleasant option than the choice to keep smoking. I was mad as hell at the time, and miserable MISERABLE during that year, but I'm so glad he did that....my life and our life is so much better now. One of the FIRST things Mr. Doggy did was stop buying my cigarettes. Our monies are all joint - so it wasn't about "who pays." But if I was out of cigarettes, I had to go get them. If he called me on the cell phone from the gas station and I asked him to buy me a pack, he would not. I don't know what your "house" smoking rules are...does he still smoke in the house? Or in "your" car? Mr. Doggy knew better than to dramatically say "no smoking in OUR house!" It IS our house and that would have never flown with me. He was smart. He started *****ing non stop about the stench, and started getting me to agree to fewer and fewer places where smoking was allowed. He took his time with this...like I said, it took him a year to wear me down. Slow and steady won the race for him...and for me. Anyway, hope this little bit helps. And if you have specific questions, I will be happy to ask Mr. Doggy for his direct input. He helped another friend of mine devise a strategy where now her husband is finally "trying" to quit. Will help if I can!!! And contratultions to all quitters. Now I just wanna be a quitter AND a loser!! DG Day 102 |

Deila,
Are you an x-smoker? I don't know of anything that would make your DH quit. All the *****ing just makes matters worse. I know, My best friend needs to quit so bad - but her DH stays on her as-----. I have told him to back off, when she wants to quit, she will ---- and not before. You just can't quit for any one except yourself. I would not let him smoke in my house --- my DH gave up smoking in the house 20 years ago. Good Luck --- Chantix is the miracle drug ---- |

Well, to answer both Doggy and Sweetpea (my nickname growing up
HE is the one who pressed the issue about ME quitting by bringing it up to my doctor how I was talking about quitting so my doctor put me on the patch. He then said he would quit after I went thru the 2 week '3itch' period so we wouldn't be a$$es at the same time. The two weeks turned into two months and then he made the 18 hour attempt to quit. He made an appointment to go to a Smoking Cessation class (which he cancelled), used my leftover patches (for less than half a day), chews gum constantly and is ALWAYS saying stuff about quitting. He just doesn't give it a try and basically says I have more willpower than he does. BULL DOODLES! Like I said, I would get off his booty if he would just either QUIT or SHUT IT about quitting. He gets 10 days of leave time (that's vacation for all you non-military types) starting the 15th and he said just today about how he 'might quit' during that time. I dunno what he's going to do when my mother comes to visit. She has asthma and is EXTREMELY sensitive to cigarette smoke, which means every time he smokes he's gonna have to change his clothes and wash up to get the smell off him. Who knows what I'm to do. It is just frustrating and, as my gramma says, "Either p!ss or get off the pot!"~Deila |
