Is there anyone in Al-Anon?

I don't know If I'm out of line here or not by bringing this subject up on this message board or not. But I'm going to go ahead because it never hurts to ask. Right?

The anonymity rule in Al-Anon in my area is that I have a right to say that I am in Al-Anon but I do not have a right to say that you are in Al-Anon.

I am a grateful member of Al-Anon. Anyone else that would like to break their own anonymity may do so it is up to you.

I would like to start a thread on here for support for Al-Anon members doing it the Low carb way. Particularly Atkins. I have tried this thing a few times but I keep falling off the wagon. Mainly because I know that I'm not incorporating my program into it. I need to apply it to all aspects of my life including the getting healthy and fit part. It would be really nice to have that something extra that I feel like I have been missing.

Please guys tell me what you think. PM me if you like I don't mind.

Thanks. ODAAT

Hello! I am currently attending al-anon meetings with my husband. Today I venture out and go all by myself. Sounds scary..............but not anymore scary than what will happen if I don't quit drinking.

I have been drinking for years, I didn't even quit when I lost all of my weight and stayed on track with the food. I guess I drank out of habbit. Every little thing that went wrong sent me to the store to buy another six pack. I know it isn't the answer to the problems but sometimes it was nice to feel numb. It is like people eat to make themselves feel better.......I drink.

I'm not ashamed to it admit anymore. Everyone around can see me free falling and I just can't seem to stop. I think I just found a parachute and I have to pull the cord to save my life.

I have met a great group of people there just like me and they have several people who want to be my sponsor. No one judges you, because they have all been there..done that too....or they wouldn't be there.

I have suffered alot of loss over the past couple of years and everytime I just grab that damn beer and drink until I feel numb....I cannot do that anymore.

Anyone wanting to email me feel free to anytime, just be sure to put a subject so I don't delete it.

mztags90@yahoo.com
thanks

I have attended Al-Anon to deal with my DD's alcoholism. It has helped me detach with love from her and God is working miracles. I also attend a 12 step program for carb sensitive folks and follow the Cambridge Greysheet. I attend meetings on the phone for both programs. GSA has been a great support while I lost the rest of my weight. Melodie Beattie's books have also helped start the day off on a positive note.

I just wanted to say thanks for the positive reinforcement. I know we are not alone out there with our addiction or addictions. Addictions seem to come hand and hand.I guess it just comes down to self worthlessness feelings about ourselves. I am trying to get throught this and I know we all can if we try hard enough.

lets get it done!

Pinehurst.....wish I was there!!!!!
