Hypnosis??

Has anyone here tried hypnosis for anything? I just have to say that it works. I bought these hypnosis CDs and I listen to them as I'm falling asleep at night. I am bulimic, have been for more than half of my life. I have been unable to stick to any type of healthy eating for more than a couple of days. I'm always feeling completely out of control. But now that I listen to the CDs, I find myself not thinking of food as much...unless I am truly hungry. And even then, I go for the healthy stuff. I have lost 4 pounds since I started this WOE on Monday the 3rd. Being in control feels really good. It's very powerful!!!

I learned self hypnosis from a therapist and found it to be a wonderful relaxation technique. It is wonderful that you have found something that is working one day at a time.

Hmmmmm

I tried hypnosis twice in my life....both times it was to quit smoking.

Once it was a huge seminar in a hotel...it worked for about 3 days...hardly worth it

The next time was with a great woman..one on one, candles and a massage table she even provided a cuddly blanket. I quit for 3 weeks that time, I knew I could go back again to get me through the next 3 weeks but at $50 a whack it was cheaper to keep smoking!

I quit for good on Dec 1, 2003...my son who was 7 years old at the time, said "mommy, please stop smoking, I don't want you to die".....That was it for me. Thank God for my son! I did it for both of children. It was so easy for me not to smoke during my pregnancies because I did it for them.

But I realized that I loved ME TOO!! And I liked NOT getting sick every winter and I liked to be able to walk with out wheezing! you see no matter what the addiction is you have to want to just be healthy! One life to live is soooooo true, don't let it be too late!

Make a date and just do it!

Good luck!

I went to those hypnosis seminars to quit smoking. The first two quits lasted a month each. That last time I went, I was just going to support my husband - I didn't really want to quit. The man who was doing the seminar wasn't all that great. I walked out thinking, "what a crock. I'll be back to smoking tomorrow." That was 4 1/2 years ago and I haven't had a puff since.

WOW!!

I guess hypnosis is different for everyone! Funny how you didn't believe in it and it actually worked for you!! Don't you feel better now that you are a non smoker...especially since they cost like $7 a pack these days!! LOL

Quitting smoking was the best thing I ever did for myself. I just wish I could have done it when my kids were growing up. I didn't think about it then, but now that I've quit, I feel awful that they had to put up with it. Some things you just wish you could go back and change.

I went for hypnosis at age 17 to lose weight. My mom paid for it. When I went in, he asked me what I wanted to change about myself. I said "quit biting my nails, quit smoking (mom had no idea!) and lose weight" - in that order. I guess those were my priorities then. I never bit my nails again! I quit smoking about 15 years later (7 years ago) - not attributed to hypnosis, but a coup nonetheless. I didn't lose a pound and have gained, gained, gained ever since. Maybe I should have reversed the order! But I do have lovely hands!
