Question/thought for the day 12/20/04

Pick one "negative tape" you replay over and over in your head and reframe it into a postive message.

My answer;

"I am already fat, one more day of overeating won't make any difference"

instead;

"I feel good when I eat well, I feel good when I exercise. No matter what the number is on the scale today, I can feel beautiful and healthy in this body TODAY if I eat right and move "

This is tough to only pick one.

"I keep working out but I still look the same"
Correction would be - "workout to fill better today"

"I'm hungry, I want a snack"
Correction would be- Drink some water. Are you really hungry or bored?

Looking at a skinny girl:

"Man, I wish I looked like that."

Changed to:

"You're getting there. Keep at it!" and "I bet her life isn't roses either."

Hello

I hope this does'nt sound off topic to weight issue, but it's the first thing I thing I thought of as something that plays forever in my head on a daily basis. It's a good analogy for how I feel about myself and continuing to gain weight over and over and look frumpy and grey and try to go unnoticed.

I'm an artist and I work from home. I spend a LOT of time working, and zero time on cleaning and making my home look nice. I sell Limited Edition Prints and originals, and not a SINGLE painting or print in my home! Nothing even in my work room is hanging, it's sold or waiting in a bin to be packaged and shipped.
I like my work LOL...it's pretty!

So my negative thought is-

"My 'home' is ugly, I keep all my art which is such a huge expression of myself hidden away... until it's sold to someone who confirms to me it's worth"

replace with - "I am coming out of my work room and hanging my art which is the deepest physical expression of "me" on my walls throughout my home. I am celebrating my life and who I am, and what I create"

Alisa... who you all may think a bit odd LOL

Alisa, I don't think it's off topic at all -- sounds like you're talking about the same self worth and issues that many stuggle with. And the issues of looking outside ourselves for reinforcement.

I was having that issue this morning when the scale did a bounce up even though I ate well yesterday. I have to think hard about it to focus on the positive internal reinforcement of how good I feel instead of the negative external reinforcement of the scale bumping around.

I know, I know, I ought to stop weighing myself at all.....

LOL, it's not barren really, I have other peoples art professionally framed by me and hung on my walls...but never my own art! I have been asked why when people visit. As a very visual person it just makes no sense why I would'nt DO something about it Sort of like my weight.

Silkasha...I highly recommend tossing the scale! I use my clothes to gauge...it's much more fun, and you get a workout trying things on
