QUESTION/THOUGHT FOR THE DAY 12/18/04

We spend a lot of time lamenting things that are out of our control, or believing that we can't fix a situation because it is out of our control. The question for today is, What DO you have control of in your life, and about your body?

my answer;
I have control over what I put in my mouth and weather or not I move my body today, even if I cannot control the number on the scale.

I have control over weather or not I spend time with people, even if I can't control what they say to me.

I have control over how many things I commit to doing even if I can't predict or control how stressful each thing will be.

I control my actions and reactions to other people, places and things. I do not control other people, places and things, their actions or reactions.

I control whether I exercise, write my food down, call my sponsor, weigh & measure my food.

When someone treats me with disrespect, I choose how I want to respond to them. I can be disrespectful back, but if I am, I know I will eventually have to make amends for my part in the discourse. Today I try to be respectful whenever possible or walk away from the encounter. It is one way that I use to boost my self esteem. My mama always used to say I don't need to lower myself to someone else's level.

Today I am learning to turn to God for help in dealing with life. The way I look at it is that if I think I can do this all on my own with no help from God, I am only kidding myself.

My doctor (shrink) was telling me Friday that research has proved that those who have a belief system (in some kind of higher power or God) tend to have fewer mental health issues. I am not talking about religion here, but a connection to my Creator and a reliance not defiance on my Higher Power.

I don't feel I control anything about my body, other than what I choose to put into it or how I move it. My weight is a direct correlation to my healthy choices.
