sugar addiction, and laxatives...

I usually do pretty good on my diet. I'm following Atkins, and most times stay away from "goodies"... but, I've been so depressed and discouraged lately, that I've slipped back into a major sugar binge. I am going to admit, I have eaten NOTHING but sugar ladden foods for the last week. Pumpkin pie... ice cream, stuffed cupcakes, chocolates, brownies... etc... No matter how much I eat of it, I can't seem to get enough. I'm so sick, my stomache is in severe pain, I'm nauseous, my face is breaking out, but, I'm still shoving it in my mouth...

Also, I've started using laxatives, daily to quickly purge this poison out of my system...

I don't understand how I got this way. I've been on Atkins for 2 years... and even though, I've done real well with it, up to this point, over night, I've turned into a raving sugar lunatic!!! My pancrease is spasming...

I don't know what to do... I think I'm and addict.. and I think I'm having some eating disorder problems... can someone please offer some help?

This is what has happened to me, and all I can say is, "fake it till you make it". I'm not one to give any advice, since after 2 years of doing great, now every day is touch and go for me. I think the carbs themselves are a problem for some of us, and no amount of soul searching is going to keep us "clean" until we are "abstinent" for awhile.

In other words, if you can get right back on the wagon, that might help a lot. Don't be like me and make up excuses for 2 1/2 years, and gain it all back plus some.

Good luck

The food your eating is comfort food and makes you feel very good while your eating it and even ok shortly after eating them but it has to stop.

Make up your mind soon because you don't want to gain lots of weight or injure yourself with the laxatives.

I don't know what it takes for each person to get to that point of saying they want to change and really doing it but it can start right now. Decisions are made in less than a second and if we stick to them they can change our lives for the better or worse.

Keep posting here. Giving feedback to others may help you help yourself. Good luck.

Please stop taking the laxatives! They don't "clean you" out because the food has been absorbed long before they start to work and you might do irreparable harm to your digestive tract if you continue.
