Hi

I would really like to join!! I am new to low-carb and really need to lose 50lbs. I am so depressed like this, I have never been this heavy in my life and I dont do anything except stay at home and watch tv knowing there is a life out there its just why cant I get up and do something about my weight gain? I have decided to make low carb a lifestyle change and I really hope I succeed. I am so afraid of disappointing myself and doing good in the beginning but once I start feeling good and losing the weight going back to my old habits which is what put on these 50lbs. I cant even stand looking in the mirror most of the times. I have a closet full of clothes that I cant even wear and I wont throw them out because I guess there is still the "thin" person inside telling me I will get there again.

Sorry to go on and on but I really want to join something positive and I am very happy I found this place.

*I was trying to post this in the "carb addicts" forum but I guess I did it wrong. Sorry..

I saw your post, why hasn't anybody replied, so I thought I would. I just wanted to say that my impression is that this board isn't that active, so that's perhaps why.

good for you for making this life change. YOU CAN DO IT!!
Seriously, be proud of yourself for taking this first step. ANd accept that it's an ongoing journey, for the rest of your life. There will be ups and downs, just as with everything. ANd you are right, there is life out there to be lived. Check out a weekly volunteer activitiy, get involved with your local church, join a mall walking group, or take a weight lifting class at the local community college a few times a week. Just get out there!!!!

I wish you the best in your weight loss journey. The first step is sometimes the hardest, and at times, you'll be taking those first steps again and again, . . . but you can do it!

Hi and welcome! Congrats on your decision for a better way of eating. After reading your post, sounds like you need to get active! Do some volunteer work (there is always someone out there that needs your help), find physical things to do around the house or get a part-time or full-time job (this really helped me stay on the plan since I tend to eat more at home). I'm sure the extra $ will come in handy too! IMO once you get moving physically the plan will be easier to stick to. Oh, and drink lots of water!!

Good luck!

Thanks

Thanks that is some great advice!!

I was thinking about getting a part time job (need the xtra money). I do need to get out more and do things, I am so not myself these past few years. I used to be a active person and love doing things and I still do but since I have these extra lbs on me I dont feel comfortable at all!!! I really am hoping that I can stick to this but like you said if I fall off I can just jump back on and not get discouraged.

I appreciate your responses and I cant wait to get to know everyone.

Wishing you the best in your weight loss journey. There are lots of challenges you could join to support your efforts. One on this forum is the Carb Addicts Support Thread. I participate to some on the Century Club since I had over 100 lbs to lose.

Preplanning has been an indispensable tool to working this program. I write my food down on paper, commit it to someone, weigh out my portions and I don't eat between meals. My choice. This is the most important thing I do today and where I draw the line. No one can convince me to take the first bite of whatever but me. It is my choice. I only weigh once a month and instead focus on my daily plan. I control my actions not the number on the scale.

Having a God in my life really helps as well. I believe God can do for me what I can't do for myself, but He will not do for me what I can do for myself.
